Provincially, all eyes are on British Columbia as we wonder whether there will be an early election, and as the BC Conservatives continue to purge. You can see my interview with Vaughn Palmer on that issue here, worth the watch - his main message is for the last several decades when the non-NDP forces unite they win and when they don’t they lose.
But while we wonder about an election in B.C. there actually is one in Quebec.
Many people wouldn’t know there is a provincial Conservative Party in Quebec. That might be because there hasn’t been anyone elected provincially under the Conservative Party banner since 1935.
My old friend Eric Duhaime could change all that. Eric was a regular contributor to my defunct TV show keeping viewers across the country up to date not only on what was happening in Quebec but addressing national and cultural issues as well.
He used to write a column for the Toronto Sun back then as well.
For the past several years he’s been working hard to rebuild the Conservative Party of Quebec and it looks like, even though the separatist Parti Quebecois will win the election, Duhaime and his team could have a break through.
It’s one of many interesting threads happening in the Quebec election.
I reached out to Marc-Olivier Fortin to get a lay of the land. He’s a political veteran who has worked with the federal Conservative Party in Ottawa including helping to run the campaigns that kept the riding of Chicoutimi blue until Richard Martel departed for the Senate.
He also writes about Quebec politics for National Post.
We spoke last week about who is up, who is down, the prospects for all the major parties.
Enjoy the conversation.

There won't be much of a change for the Conservatives in the East until people figure out how the media influences them. By using 'mean world syndrome,' the media has people falling 'all in' for cultivation theory, all at the Liberals' behest. The little man with the moustache did exactly the same thing in the 1930-40’s.
One of the things I enjoy about Brian Lilley’s journalism is that he investigates the corners & stories of this Country other journalists fear, or have no in which have no interest.
