To many of us, Elbows Up was cringe from the get-go, an obvious and laughable insertion of a bogeyman into our election campaign to rile that crowd into voting Liberal. As predicted by many of us, it has proven to be a stupid failure, ruinous for this country. Good for Pierre for demonstrating the maturity that was always called for.
And anyone who fell for any of the above will inevitably fall for the next line of propaganda. Sad really. Do they not teach 1984 and Brave New World in high school anymore?
As an aside remember the liberal ad re: Steven Harper “men with guns in the streets”? The fact peaceful protesters in Ottawa during the Freedom Convoy were assaulted by “men with guns” was actively celebrated by the chattering classes.
Apparently they don’t. I met a TEACHER in her early 40s in 2020 who had never HEARD of 1984 nor Animal Farm. Our great education system has dumbed done the nation well, making them ripe for propaganda.
I stand corrected! The last 11 years of the insanity of these Lieberals has had me wishing for harper to return the sanity we had before this nightmare
I guess Carney finds it too tedious to deal with ten provincial and three territorial elected premiers, he prefers to deal with a deferential bunch of appointed judges. Call it democracy the liberal way.
If the Premiers were smart, they would have held their own separate conference to loudly denounce the Federal Liberals for trying to amend the constitution without employing the amending formula.
Elbows up gagged me from the beginning, just another glib Liberal slogan to mask their damaging policies and actions. And, the Eastern elite public buys it. The fact Carney is up in the polls makes me feel absolutely powerless as a western Conservative voter.
I don’t believe the polls. I joined Angus Reid polling and put as my primary polling as
Political. I have received numerous surveys on anything but politics. I suspect I should not have answered Conservative when ask if I belonged to a party. Is this an anomaly, hmmm…makes me wonder. I have sent them an inquiry about this and have yet to hear back.
Incredible that he’s up in the polls‼️—I thought I had heard everything until a husband & his wife, both with their PhDs (former profs @ U of T) thought Carney was doing a good job as was NY’s mayor, Mamdani, but that Trump was not‼️
Keep it up, Brian! You good sir, are what I call Canada's most trusted news network. Not those self-proclaimed networks that are paid by the Communist Liberal Party of Canada
Elbows Up was an absolute embarrassment from the second it was released!!
Anybody who voted for Carney were complete Trump Deranged Socialists who had no care for Canada ever trying to correct the Complete Destruction by Trudeau and the NDP !
Elbows up? Sure liberals were and are up to their elbows in the Canadian cookie jar. Any who believed them are up to the shoulders in their own asses! Worse is they have even corrupted our democracy by enticing conservative http://M.Ps to cross the floor without triggering bi elections? The country is now on the brink of divorce basically and that is not going to change without a change in government and parliamentary seat allocations. The west has lost 100s of billions in resource revenues and Eastern Lieberals are entirely to blame. Western Canadians demand a voice and a vote something that has been denied us since confederation.
I think you folks have discounted the extent and depth of the difficulties you will face and overemphasized the positive attributes that Canada affords.
Having said that, I am far more sympathetic to your cause than you might realize.
I have often cited that I don't want Alberta to leave Confederation, but with each day that passes, I understand better why she might.
Donald, I thank you for your sympathetic comment; you clearly don't want us to leave but you seem to understand why we would want to.
Now, having said that, I think that you perhaps don't appreciate that so, so, so many of we separatists have publicly said that there will be difficulties, including great difficulties, in the process of separation but that we will get through those to that much better place for our children and grandchildren
From time to time I utilize fora such as this one to comment and when the topic is one where there is opposition to we in Alberta leaving I typically ask such an opponent just WHY we should stay in Canada. The answers typically take on a form of a) emotion such as "We love you" and so forth; b) scorn and arguments to the effect that "You just don't know 'X' ..." whatever dire thing "X" might be; c) threats such as "If you leave ROC will never .... / will always ..." whatever the threat might be on a particular day; d) a recitation of various claimed attributes of Canada such as "We have freedom of speech ..." or "Think of the wondrous scenery at [claimed geographic feature], but there is no consideration that we in Alberta already have the claimed attribute and will have it after independence; and so forth. Put differently, I have not seen any - I mean, not any, proper responses to my question but, rather, I have only seen things that suggest that the respondent simply does not understand their own response and how we already have that thing or don't value it or presumably would be able to access it after independence.
So, my request of you is to see if you can offer something that actually entice me - as a self proclaimed separatist and a self proclaimed representative of others with that thought process - to change my perspective and choose to remain in Canada.
You would be better off in the long run in a properly run confederation than going it alone.
That is my answer; no tears, no emotion, or laments.
Separatists as a whole have soft-sold the difficulties an independent Alberta would face. I respect the that fact that you yourself acknowledge this, but how many others understand the same?
I was recently in Calgary for the Conservative Convention.
I would stagger into a bar, or an art gallery, or another bar while I was walking the streets of the City.
Of folks who actually live and work in Alberta, no one I met was enthusiastic about separation.
So, are we to believe the polls that say “28-30 per cent of Albertans are open to separation” or do we listen to the polls that suggest “support drops off quickly when some of the difficult questions are asked”?
Suddenly, we find ourselves at 15 per cent.
So my question becomes, respectfully & without malice, who are we?
A much easier & less costly path, one also supported by your terrific Premier, is a “sovereign Alberta within the Confederation of Canada.”
Constitutional reform is a less costly and more sustainable, fruitful path to sovereignty than is offered by separation.
The enemy of Alberta is not Canada, but the Liberal Party of Canada.
Hmmm ..... "properly run confederation"... "constitutional reform " ...
And where, pray tell, would one reasonably - note that I asked "reasonably" - expect to find these concepts in Canada within the next twenty or thirty years?
You are right about elbows-up. It was a one trick pony to win an election, but now produces grimaces. or pained expressions. X had a meme of about fifty old timers, who were probably paid, doing the dance and looking like inmates at an insane asylum. As Newfoundlanders say, "it was shockin".
The farcical "Elbows Up" slogan was nothing but a performative election stunt. Of course PM Carney didn't believe it, he just used it to get elected. It appealed to the dyed-in-the-wool reflexive anti-Americanism that is intrinsic in the Liberal Party brand (and its supporters). However, Canadians are nothing if not smug and sanctimonious, and IMHO, too many of us would rather cut off our nose to spite our face. We are getting what we deserve.
Elbows up became fear-mongering politics again. That is the liberal number ideal politics game during elections.
Example for pot or against legalizing pot, for climate change against it, for vaccine mandates against it. Now for fighting our number one trading partner or against fighting our number one trading partner. If you viewed it from the l historical viewpoint that eastern elites want the common man to be scared during elections so they vote for thier party. They make up the orange boogie man, this time it is Trump.
Elbows up was always cringe ...a farce, by someone who was born in Cda, BUT identifies as European. Why are we wasting Canada's future on this elite globalist who will be gone from Cda the minute he's done feeding his ego & Cda is in further shambles.
Every part of their platform is cringe. The voters don't care because it's an ideology and they have become tribalist goons who handwave everything away as partisian complaining The RCMP is a gestapo. Mike Deworm is the biggest, most obese failure of our generation. Ryan Wedding, TD Cartel Laundering, Chinese Triads, Iranian bounties in Ontario and now Hezbollah operating in BC. None of which was important to investigate because all their resources are tied up being a gestapo. This country has fallen

My mask protects you
Safe and effective
2 weeks to flatten the curve
We are all in this together
Elbows up

Just an observation
Apparently they don’t. I met a TEACHER in her early 40s in 2020 who had never HEARD of 1984 nor Animal Farm. Our great education system has dumbed done the nation well, making them ripe for propaganda.
So true Irene.
Yeah I rememberber Harper. He was the guy with the hidden agenda.🤣🤣🤣
And what might that be! cut the BS and provide proof.
I was just kidding l, hence the laughing emojis. I remember so many, including relatives, who thought he had one. I'm still waiting for it to appear.
I stand corrected! The last 11 years of the insanity of these Lieberals has had me wishing for harper to return the sanity we had before this nightmare

Something will have to give at some point. The liberals under both Trudeau and Carney are acting like authoritarian monarchs.
Well, we in Alberta are holding a referendum in the fall ....
There’s nothing democratic about anything Carney is doing.
Elbows up gagged me from the beginning, just another glib Liberal slogan to mask their damaging policies and actions. And, the Eastern elite public buys it. The fact Carney is up in the polls makes me feel absolutely powerless as a western Conservative voter.

I have had the exact same experience with Angus Reid.
Well that is really interesting. I thought I might be becoming a conspiracy nut, lol . Thank you for letting me know you had the same experience.
Incredible that he’s up in the polls‼️—I thought I had heard everything until a husband & his wife, both with their PhDs (former profs @ U of T) thought Carney was doing a good job as was NY’s mayor, Mamdani, but that Trump was not‼️
PhD profs from Toronto would literally have no clue. They would be contrarian indicators.
Diana, I think being educated doesn't mean you are smart or have common sense. Ah yes, U of T, why am I not surprised.
Which is why I will vote for separation in the fall.
I never trust any of the polls. I put them in line with the MSM. Truth and numbers are what they are told to project.
Keep it up, Brian! You good sir, are what I call Canada's most trusted news network. Not those self-proclaimed networks that are paid by the Communist Liberal Party of Canada

I have oft suggested to Alberta Separatists that, respectfully, their best bet in the long run is a constitutionally reformed Canada.
"We tried it: constitutional reform is impossible" they cry.
But look!! Shazam!!
Constitutional reform is easy!! You don't even need a majority government.
You just need four of nine Justices to wave a robe-covered arm and PRESTO!!
Constitutional reform is achieved. This game is easy!!
The liberals are paid way too much deference by the institutions that are supposed to look out for Canadians.
That is no way to run a Country.
But you missed one major point.Who appoints the 4?Canada’s ruling party-the Liberal Party does. They appoint their own!!!
And we need to start electing conservative Conservative Governments and start doing the same.
Thank you for your sarcastic suggestion but I am quite convinced that we separatists are on the best path forward.
I think you folks have discounted the extent and depth of the difficulties you will face and overemphasized the positive attributes that Canada affords.

If you help me elect a Conservative Government.
Not a stewardship government like Stephen Harper’s, but an “agent of change” government with Pierre Poilievre as our Prime Minister.
You are right about elbows-up. It was a one trick pony to win an election, but now produces grimaces. or pained expressions. X had a meme of about fifty old timers, who were probably paid, doing the dance and looking like inmates at an insane asylum. As Newfoundlanders say, "it was shockin".

How do you fight fear-mongering politics?
First phase informs the electorate that they are being played!
Second talk about the options of a new Canada without fear-mongering politics. Repeat the Liberal lines!
The third phase uses fear mongering in opposition to fear mongering.
“If the voters allow thier vote to be manipulated by fear-mongering your government will always be playing you! “
