Pierre Poilievre takes Europe by storm...
Runnymede, London, Berlin and Triggernometry.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is having a great time in Europe.
He’s getting some media coverage, though obviously and understandably not as much as Mark Carney is getting on his trip to India, Australia and Japan.
In addition to giving speeches, which you can watch below, he’s also doing media interviews over there and has produced a great video. Far too many Canadians wouldn’t know, don’t know that our Bill of Rights and our Charter of Rights, our entire constitutional and Parliamentary structure owes it’s foundation to the British system and the Magna Carta.
We simply don’t teach this in schools the way we should. For decades governments, mostly Liberal ones, have tried to downplay the British roots of our democracy.
In this video, Pierre Poilievre relishes the history, tells the story in a wonderfully engaging way and brings it alive for a Canadian audience.
Every Canadian should watch this video.
I’ve had the pleasure of sitting in the galleries in the House of Commons, listening to debates but also rulings from the Speaker which reach back to documents like the Magna Carta or the English Bill of Rights 1689 as they have defended the honour of the Chamber.
I truly love what Poilievre has done here.
Are you Triggered…
Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster are the two men behind the Triggernometry Podcast. They are two very smart men who host very smart guests on their quite popular show.
They are also quite funny.
No doubt this interview will expose Poilievre to a new global audience, but also many Canadians. The podcast episodes from Triggernometry quite often reach into the hundreds of thousands and this one will be no different.
Building bridges one interview at a time…
Yes, a lot of Pierre videos today, in fact, all Pierre videos but I think they are worth watching and worth sharing.
Before leaving for Europe, Poilievre did an interview with Peter Mansbridge for his podcast The Bridge. Peter isn’t my style, though I’m told by mutual friends that he’s a very nice guy, but I don’t normally watch him.
I’m sharing this though to show Poilievre getting out of his comfort zone and facing an audience that mostly wouldn’t be inclined to vote for him or back him.
Everyone should remember that politics is about addition, not subtraction. That means you need to reach out to people so that they consider you.
Poilievre doing this interview was a smart move. It will likely have some of those in the Mansbridge audience giving him a second look.
And finally, the speeches…
If you’ve made it this far why not check out the speeches. When a political leader gives a speech on foreign soil, part of the speech is meant for the audience in front of them, and a bigger part is meant for the audience back home.

This man should be PM not the fool pretending to be an intelligent man!
His speech yesterday in England was simply outstanding. It's sad that there are so many who have been duped by Trudeau 2.0. It's amazing how far a nice suit and well crafted, yet hollow, speeches can take you. Canadians could have saved themselves a lot of pain had they put aside their "Poilievre Derangement Syndrome", not cowered in a corner peeing their pants over veiled threats from Trump and have the courage to admit that Poilievre has more to offer than simple word-salad speeches.
