I accepted that the liberals won again because they were a minority. However if they win a majority and start implementing more of their progressive policies, I am seriously considering leaving Canada. Everything is in chaos, immigration, housing, debt, health, antisemitism, speech, hate, wokism, and more. How can conservatives and liberals live together as we have such different visions of what Canada should be. It used to be different - we had similar values but now they are polar opposite.
Christine, it sounds as if you are of an age, of an employment type, etc., etc. to be able to successfully leave Canada. I am not of that age (I'm 75) and I am stuck here. Were I perhaps thirty to forty years younger I would be gone. I have advised my adult children that I believe that there is no future here. For the moment, they are here; one has a job that would allow him to transfer and the other has a job but not a type of skill that is easily transferable so is stuck here. Lucky for me, that means that my grandchildren are here but that could easily change.
As I say, I would leave but I cannot leave. I see the future of Canada as being impoverished and debt ridden and run by leeches who want to suck wealth from folks who work hard for it so, as I say, I would leave. My only hope is that my province, Alberta, ultimately chooses to depart this wretched country. I have signed the petition for the referendum and will vote for separation at the appropriate time.

It is incredibly hard to be away from family, but for many reasons we felt the economic climate in Canada was going to impede our retirement. So due to my husband's employment which derives income exclusively from outside the country, we moved to the Caribbean. We found that many places can be expensive if they are safe and have good medical (that is a bit of a trade off). We are currently looking at Panama as well. As long as taxation is low or zero, paying a bit more feels better as you get to control where you spend your money.

My sister and her husband moved to Portugal and they love it there. Will definitely never be back to Canada.
