Mark Carney sneaking out the back door with a grin...
Poilievre has fun in QP, no pipeline veto for American funded CFN and the big drug bust.
Look, Matt Bianco’s Sneaking Out the Back Door With a Grin wasn’t a great song, but it applies to Carney the last few days in Parliament. And given what I know about Mark Carney’s musical tastes, he’s a little bit older than me but has some of the same tastes, he’s heard the song.
Well, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was more than happy to point out that Carney was sneaking out the back door of the House of Commons on Wednesday.
Now, as you watch this video you might get upset if you are a Conservative partisan and you see how the Speaker, Francis Scarpaleggia, is acting. Here are two things to know about the House of Commons, you can’t make reference to a member not being there and you can’t attempt to do indirectly what you are not allowed to do directly.
Let’s just say that Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was pushing the line on Wednesday.
The smile as the Speaker takes away a question tells me that Poilievre is having fun in Question Period.
Is it time to showcase a team…
Poilievre is really good in the House of Commons but so was Tom Mulcair and tell me how that ended up for Mulcair and his party. On Wednesday, most of the questions that the Conservatives put to the Liberals came from Poilievre, it was the same on Monday and Tuesday.
Why does this matter?
Heading into the last election, Poilievre was more popular than his party, now the party is more popular than him. Maybe he and the CPC will be able to turn things around and be able to win the next election, but I think that will require showcasing the team he has around him, his cabinet and government in waiting.
Let the other team members step up and shine, show that the party is about more than Poilievre.
Stop treating Coastal First Nations like they have a veto…
As I was writing in my Toronto Sun column, if you listened to most of the media, you’d think Coastal First Nations was First Nations band. They’re not, they are a not-for-profit based in downtown Vancouver.
Do they have support and some representatives from certain bands and communities along the B.C. coast? Absolutely, but treating this activist group like they have a veto or speak for everyone is utterly ridiculous.
The organization got seed money from the Tides Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund to set themselves up. Millions of dollars poured into the group from left-wing anti-oil foundations in the United States.
Look at the 2008 plan presented by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund to stop oil production in what they called “The Tar Sands” to see how radical these folks are.
Six month drug sweep turns up hundreds of kilos of fentanyl and other drugs…
I’ll have to have Sam Cooper back on for another chat in the coming days or weeks, before Christmas for sure because he’s so good at covering this topic. His write up for The Bureau on the announcement of hundreds of kilos of drugs is the best and well worth the read.
Here’s a taste of what the RCMP said was seized between May 20 and October 31.
386 kg of fentanyl
270 kg of precursor chemicals
$13.46 million in cash
5,989 kg of cocaine
1,708 kg of methamphetamine
Sam gets into more detail in his report including pointing out that this announcement by the Mounties omitted the biggest seizure of fentanyl precursor chemicals seized this year.
These drugs, according to officials, weren’t meant for export they were intended for the domestic drug market in Canada.
Here’s part of my interview with Sam from two weeks ago talking about Canada’s role in the global fentanyl trade.

I cannot stomach listening to pipsqueak Frankie Bubbles shouting his ridiculous non-truths! Why do the Liberals find it necessary to sound like maniacs rather than just talking like normal people? It is pure (and poor) theatrics! They really need to lower their voices and strengthen their arguments.
I love Pierre Poilievre but I also agree that he can't be the only spokesperson for the party. There are so many smart, well spoken intelligent members in the house on the conservative side, they should be given an opportunity to shine as well. The legacy media will do its level best to make them all sound like bigoted, uneducated rubes but maybe, just maybe they might resonate with those in the population at large still equipped with common sense.
