With the United States and Israel now bombing Iran and Iran fighting back, I reached out to Canada’s former Chief of the Defence Staff General Rick Hillier, now retired, but very much still active.
We talked about the start of the joint American-Israeli operation in dealing with Iran. We discussed how long the Americans can or would want to sustain this, the need for regime change in Tehran and more.
Towards the end, we even talked about how senior military officers need to explain the political impacts of their advice and the decisions leaders make before decisions are taken.
