Polls: I believe number one that when they say “Canadians” is an outright misconception or lie, whatever ya want. It should always read “Canadians, of the 1000 polled” ! Number two is that poll was taken in what targeted zone of the province or city. Eg; Northern Ontario, Sudbury, Regina or wherever. Why do they have to deliberately try to fleece the public? There should be a law against it period. We don’t need a poll, especially when the pollsters may have been paid off, have a relative in the game, have investment In the outcome in some manner as in another cultural area etc. you get the point here. Abolish polls completely. They are entirely misleading, intentionally. When they start off with a lie”Canadians” yu should know right away something is wrong. OR poll every 41 million of us then say Canadians polled.
Mere snapshots in time those polls are, ones that take the collective breath away of the paid talking heads littering the sets of political news talk shows pumping out the same talking points. We remain stuck in neutral, slowly rolling backwards as those cheerleaders continue their practice of 'splaining away and heaping effusive praise the federal government's supposed actions, while dismissively holding the opposition to account.
Anyway, there's nothing like the results of the only polling that counts, the one where voters cast ballots after listening to the parties directly without the talking heads telling us how we should think. Under those circumstances, I think the much ballyhooed Mark Carney will have a hard time telling us what he's accomplished in his time as Prime Minister, other than securing us a spot on that cheesy Eurovision singing contest.
One can only imagine what life will be like for us if we find the Canadian version of Heino belting out some tune in Strasbourg...
What exactly qualifies a few thousand people to supposedly speak for millions of voters? Polls can measure the opinions of the people they actually surveyed, but presenting that as though it represents how an entire country will vote is a pretty big leap. That’s why I take these polls with a very large grain of salt.
I’d actually be interested to know how they come up with these numbers and confidence they are actually accurate. I've heard how they do it and I realize they can’t poll everyone, but I don’t know anyone who’s ever been asked to participate in one of these polls. Makes you wonder who they’re actually reaching out to come up with these alleged numbers.
I am more interested in how the questions are phrased. If the question is phrased to get a desired agreement or gently push towards a specific response the poll cannot be called valid.
These polling numbers don't surprise me at all given that TDS is even more rampant in Canada - including among *many* conservatives (particularly the older ones, it seems). However, what is currently the Carney & Co.'s greatest (really only) strength has a shelf life. I've noticed over the past year some fluctuation in the polls. Every time Trump gives Carney an opportunity to go elbows-up his poll numbers jump. But when Trump isn't front and centre, the numbers start to dip. Now, that hasn't happened for a long enough stretch of time yet to see real downward movement but it indicates that the Libs are pretty dependent on the "Trump factor" to maintain support. That literally cannot last forever. And Carney may have painted himself into a corner. He's whipped up anti-Americanism to such a fever-pitch that, yes, he may have a tricky time selling them on one. But if he never gets one and the economy starts taking real hits that even his supporters feel then they may start to turn on him for that. Canadians have recently shown just how feckless, shallow and immature they really are. Polling shows the majority supports Carney walking away from a deal (despite none of us having seen what it actually was) but that they're unwilling to be financially/economically impacted by it (taking even a $500/yr hit for it is too much for a similar majority). The populace at this time isn't just emotional, the bulk of them are currently outright unhinged.
Doesn’t say much for the collective capability of liberal voters when it comes to a critical thought process around which party would actually govern Canada effectively. Cheered on by the corrupt main media.
Carney went ‘elbows up’ to win some by-elections and will not seriously try to help Canadians until the Quebec election is over in October. Meanwhile, in a break from calling and spending dollars on calling Albertans traitors, the advertising dollars are now being spent on ways to disgrace the Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon. Carney and the liberals are spending lots of tax dollars with the stay in Canada ads for both Alberta and Quebec, so Carney might keep ‘elbows up’ until after the Quebec election, but Albertans aren’t really in the elbows up game.
So, I expect that after October 8th, there will be a miraculous deal made with the US, the Keystone Pipeline will be approved and the ads calling Albertans traitors will end and ads suggesting that Canada is on Alberta’s side will begin.
I could be wrong of course, but I am not sure how many Albertans would bet against me. We have seen this plot many times before.
I would like to know who the fools are and the area they live in because out here in the west I don’t know a single person who would vote for Carney or any liberals

In reality the polls are fairly reliable. I may not like the results, but sometimes life stinks, and we move on.
Yes, how can you get an accurate polling of over 40 million people when only 1000 are asked their opinion? It also depends how you ask the questions.

Edits: - TDS is more rampant in Canada *than the US*.
- Carney may have a tricky time selling people on *a deal*
I really wish you could go back and edit comments on here.

So here is the plot...

Polls are not meant to reflect outcomes. They are meant to influence outcomes
