I hear from Carney voters all the time, they accuse me of never saying anything nice about him and want me to get behind him. It’s not true, I’ve said plenty of nice things about him, especially on domestic issues, but on international affairs from Israel to the USA, I think Carney is a disaster so far.
The latest column I wrote for the Toronto Sun generated the typical response of so many Carney voters, defending him tooth and nail.

I wrote about the crazy story broken by Blacklock’s Reporter where the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. hired a firm run and dominated by Democrats to help them understand American conservative messaging and right-wing media in the U.S. of A. The embassy paid $6,000 USD or $8,300 CDN for a three hour session.
It’s utter madness.
A publicly available presentation deck posted on Signal’s website advises clients who want to understand Trump and his team to read the Wall Street Journal, watch Fox News, and follow the online news site Breitbart. These are things that embassy staff should already know and shouldn’t have to pay for, not based on the salaries they are getting.
There is no mention of major influencers in the American conservative media landscape such as Megyn Kelly, Glenn Beck, Matt Walsh, Jordan Peterson, Benny Johnson, or Ben Shapiro. Instead, there are vague references to Newsmax, the Washington Times, and The Spectator.
I think I could have done a better job given that I have contacts with plenty of American media folks, know them and understand them. As my friend Stephen Taylor has put it in the past, any of us who have gone to CPAC in Washington have more Republican/MAGA contacts than the Carney government.
Conservative MP Michelle Rempel-Garner said that hiring this firm would be like hiring Trudeau’s former Chief of Staff Katie Telford to give you advice on how to understand the Poilievre Conservatives.
Well, being critical of that saw me get responses from the Carney crowd telling me to be nice, or it doesn’t matter, but this email from Mike Neilly sums it up.
I’d say that Canada is in this mess because Trump is unfit for office, he is irrational. He’s declared trade wars based on the ridiculous notion that nations must buy from one another in equal measure! This is like me buying a car from Ford and expecting Ford to buy goods from me equal to the sticker price. So much for the free market.
If you want to understand the ambitions of Trump’s Republican Party, you’d need to go back to the 1880s: No New Deal, no social security, no women’s vote or even control over their own bodies. Basically it’s the law of the jungle, survival of the fittest, virtually any service provided by the federal government is an “overreach”, except for the army and post office.
Look, you can dislike Trump all you want, but that is not an accurate description of him or the Republican Party of today. That’s a drive by smear, but for Neilly, it makes him feel better and then he doesn’t have to deal with Trump.
The trouble is that Trump is President of the United States until 2028 and the Republicans could very well keep the White House after that. Is our strategy to wait until Democrats are back in?
By the way, Joe Biden tried to take away our auto industry with the Inflation Reduction Act which offered all kinds of EV subsidies. That’s why the Ontario and federal governments matched them, to try and keep some investment here.
Democrats aren’t our friends on trade either, they just smile while slipping the knife in.

Anand met with Rubio for less than a cup of coffee…
Want more proof that Canada doesn’t matter in Washington these days - a position we have put ourselves in.
Carney’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand flew to Washington to meet with Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio. She was supposed to hold a news conference after but that was cancelled and she rushed out of Foggy Bottom - one of the nicknames for the State Department - and rushed back to Canada.
In total, CBC, the official broadcaster of the Carney Liberals, said the meeting lasted 20-30 minutes. I’m guessing it was on the shorter side rather than the longer side.
Here’s the statement on the meeting from Rubio’s office issued in the early afternoon.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio met today with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Washington to discuss efforts to support Haiti’s security and overcome Hamas’s ongoing obstruction of peace in Gaza. Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Anand also discussed peace negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war and mechanisms to strengthen our hemisphere’s response to China’s coercive activity.
Anand’s office didn’t release a statement on the meeting. Between her not issuing a statement, the meeting being so short, her cancelling her press conference and rushing home, I’m guessing it was not a good meeting.
She did sign onto another statement condemning Israel, maybe that is why she had to rush back home.
Here is CBC dancing about the whole meeting earlier today trying to make it sound good. This isn’t analysis, it is government spin.

Hatred for Jews continues…
Maybe you heard about the story last week of a guy walking around and threatening to kill Jews in and around their homes. He was arrested, charged and is now back at it again.
Here is the man identified by police as Sid Ali Tamrabet while he was harassing people last week.
Based on his accent, I don’t think this man is originally from Canada. Based on his views, I don’t think he belongs here.
Leviathan, another great account to follow on X has the update on him.

Doug Ford got roasted…
There was a guy who showed up at Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s news conference on Thursday and roasted him. Lots of people cheering for the guy online, especially among Ford haters of which there are many left and right - but he keeps winning and polling well.
Anyway, Ford was in Sarnia to announce $400,000 for the City of Sarnia through the province’s Building Faster Fund. It’s not much of an announcement for the Premier of Ontario to fly out to Sarnia for, so Ford does deserve some criticism on this, the announcement was weak sauce.
Enter Nathan Colqhoun from the Sarnia Journal.
A few thoughts on this.
Ford deserves criticism for such a weak announcement. The total given to the city for building homes faster is less than the price of the average home in that area.
You don’t send the premier out for that.
That said, a few problems with Nathan from the Sarnia Journal as he introduced himself.
He called the Premier of Ontario “Doug” in his first interaction with him. I’ve known Premier Ford for about 12 years or more and I won’t call him Doug in a public setting like that.
The same went for Stephen Harper when he was PM, Justin Trudeau as PM or any other politician that I know. You are addressing a person who holds an office that demands respect, and even when I dislike the person and the policies that they are putting forward, as a journalist, I show respect for the office.
Secondly, while every criticism of the announcement was warranted, the question itself was rather aggressive. There is no need for that from either side.
Now, if Nathan from the Sarnia Journal has asked a question and Ford was an absolute dick to him, then give as you get is my view. I feel the same way about politicians hitting back at journalists, if the journalist is an idiot then I don’t care if the politician responds in kind.
And let me tell you, I’ve been on the receiving end of some dressing downs from politicians at all levels. Unlike the kids today, I didn’t run to social media to cry about it.
Have you listened to this week’s podcast…
I know I promoted it once, but let me promote it again.
This week’s podcast looks at Dief the Chief.
John Diefenbaker was a Canadian political rockstar. At his height, his popularity dwarfed the Trudeaumania that would come later.
Thanks to media bias in this country though, you wouldn’t know that and would mostly know that Dief killed the Avro Arrow.
Don’t believe the hype and what you have heard. Listen to me as I chat with author Bob Plamondon about his book Freedom Fighter: John Diefenbaker's Battle for Canadian Liberties and Independence.
Bob is a great talker and has written several historical books on Canadian PMs and Dief is a great topic.
Here are the official show notes for the podcast.

Before Pierre Poilievre, before Brian Mulroney, there was one leader who made federal conservatives an electoral force to be reckoned with. Before John Diefenbaker, Canada had begun to resemble a Liberal one-party state. Bob Plamondon, author of the new book Freedom Fighter: John Diefenbaker's Battle for Canadian Liberties and Independence, talks with Brian about how Dief became a political sensation bigger than any other prime minister. How he stood against Soviets, while standing up to America, and championed equality before it was fashionable. And Plamondon explains how the three-time prime minister created the blueprint for the common-man conservatism that animates the party even today, turning the Tories “from a party of losers into a party of winners.” (Recorded June 26, 2025)

Canada is a mess. Deport, stop all immigration now. You are not wanted here. Liberal, Tory same old story. Decades of this now. Most boomers are programmed, brainwashed, greedy and delusional. Just look at what they have done to this country over the last 40, 60 years, sick. The charter is the problem. Yes, Canada is broken, but why? Xenophobic - bigoted – Marxist - Commie - kebek controls the nation, Ottawa. $ 100s of billions stolen out of Alberta and Sask., BC, Ont. since the 1960s, 70s... Equalization (money laundering into kebec) became entrenched in his commie charter = Proud kebek communist Pierre Trudeaus constitution of 1982. Since then, 25 years of Liberal governments have made things worse. 18 years of 'Conservative' governments, the exact same thing. Kebeks Charter = 10s of billions stolen out of Ottawa yearly and funneled into quebec and other metis (they are not french) – towns and companies, all across the country every year, all disguised as grants, subsides, equalization, transfers, bilingualism - (code for french) – only outside quebec while kebec bans our language, history = bills 22, 178, 101, 96... multiculturalism - (only outside kebec), massive government growth, mass immigration, gov’t control, surveillance, censorship, high taxes and massive debt. Canada now just liberals masquerading as conservatives, the rest, communists masquerading as liberals. ’French power’ in all provinces. They are revising, eliminating our BNA history all over the country as they rename all things English, Scottish...sick. Election fraud? YES, guaranteed. Why? Well simple, they lie about everything else. Xenophobic = Bigoted = Socialist = kebec runs the nation. This IS the problem, and No party, NO ‘leader’ will touch it. ‘Cons’ Poliver, Ford ? Nothing, not a word. “First quebec, and Ottawa and then the entire country…” ‘french power..." PET. $ Seriously, how do we get these lying, crooked, corrupt greedy metis bigots out of Ottawa, Queens Park...?
I was looking for a new book to read, I think I found it.
Don't Be Canada: How One Country Did Everything Wrong All At Once
A shocking, darkly hilarious exploration of how Canada, a country once admired for its stability and moderation, became a global cautionary tale.
Drawing from real headlines, deep research, and extensive interviews, acclaimed journalist Tristin Hopper uncovers the bizarre missteps and policy experiments that have helped Canada set new global standards for disfunction. The examples are legion: the real estate bubble that never bursts, Orwellian internet regulations, harm reduction policies that escalate harm, official health guidelines that recommended the use of glory holes in a pandemic, and a runaway euthanasia system that inspired the Wall Street Journal to declare, “Welcome to Canada, the Doctor Will Kill You Now.”
As sobering as it is comic, Don’t Be Canada examines the cascading consequences of extreme policies and tells the tragic story of a country that took its wealth, tolerance, and functionality for granted.
