Carney's pattern: Cave, rinse repeat...

His track record shows that the man who sold himself as good in a crisis is anything but.

We all know that Mark Carney caved to Donald Trump on the deal to open the Gordie Howe Bridge. Whether he had a choice is a matter of debate.

What he had a choice on was whether to be open and honest with the Canadian public.

He chose to obfuscate, deny, some might say lie.

As I was writing in the Toronto Sun yesterday, this is part of a pattern for Mark Carney.

On Friday, as I discussed in my video on Sunday, Carney’s government announced that they weren’t going forward with the expansion of the Billy Bishop Airport. Then on Sunday, he announced the byelection for Beaches-East York, a riding on the Toronto waterfront where the airport expansion isn’t popular.

As I’ve been calling it, this is Carney’s Operation Coward.

Fauci’s fame virus…

It’s clear that Anthony Fauci loved fame, it’s also clear that he wasn’t very facts during the pandemic.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul released all 1,141 pages of the diaries via a Google Drive. It’s a fascinating read, but a long one.

Fauci spent a lot of time, energy and political capital in the early days of the pandemic trying to undermine the idea that the virus had leaked out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He maintained the virus emerged naturally and worked to discredit those advancing the lab leak theory, now considered a “most likely” explanation by officials including a U.S. House committee panel.

“Now we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier. Having said that, somewhere the virus jumped from animals to humans,” Fauci wrote in his diary on Jan. 26, 2020.

A few days later, on Feb. 1, 2020, Fauci convened a call with other leading public health officials and scientists to discuss the issue of the virus’ origin. He described how there was not a consensus with some arguing that the virus originated naturally. “The rest felt that deliberate insertion was possible and given the fact that Dr. Zheng-Li Shi at the University of Wuhan has been working for years in GOF in coronaviruses.”

Musk takes on media framing about right wing politics…

Elon Musk did a long form interview with Zanny Minton Beddoes the editor-in-chief of The Economist. Most of the interview focused on the issue of AI and the future it will create and how it can be contained.

The interesting part though came at about the one hour mark when the topic turned to politics. Musk pushed back when Beddoes accused him of supporting “far right” politicians and policies.

I’m glad Musk pushed back.

Too often the media throws around terms such as “far right” but apply it to everyday conservatives. Meanwhile, socialism is given a pass in our media, rarely are people described as “far left” and people like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani is held up as an example for Canada’s NDP.

And people ask why I believe Canada’s media tilts left.
