The Liberals are not "scared shitless" of Pierre Polievre. A friend who is a staunch and well connected Liberal says they actually prefer PP because they know they can beat him. The CPC has to develop a team of experienced campaign operatives who can think outside the CPC box and turn some of the LPC's dirty tricks against them in a guerilla war style campaign instead of just campaigning on fiscal responsibility. Gerald Butts was good at this, surely someone in the CPC can manage to do the same in response. And Conservatives, for god's sake quit bitching about d'Entremont crossing the floor, it's happened 80 times in the last 25 years, 300 times since Confederation. Why not improve the regulatory and assessment process (remove uneccessary barriers, including FN consultation barriers) and let the proponent figure out if the project is worthwhile taking further. PP is correct - remove the barriers and let current and future investors decide the merits of making a major development happen. I challenge the reader to look at the past 10 year chart of the Canadian dollar versus any other currency - it doesn't look good. Canada needs a serious wake-up call in my opinion.
