Until I see or hear different this past week of budget and project announcement is just one huge Liberal "dog and pony" show. They are over selling to the nth degree . What is upsetting the most is that there is no "palace revolt", no one in this party can be that naive to believe in this pie in the sky budget. In the past 10 years we have gone from the horror distaste of 20 billion dollar debt to the the projected 80 billion and this Liberal party says this good for the country and Canadians - fantasy land in spades. I will not even begin to outline the downward evolution of our "hypothetical" judicial system.
Politicians keep proving to us how gutless they are and make a stand and us voters know it, so stand by you feckless politicians we will show you how it’s done
Just like the dam with a missing brick, that trickles out until the pressures too much and it destroys the structure. A lot of people in Canada anyways have thrown the brick away and want action.
The Butts contrived liberal strategy to smear Poilievre with a compliant propagandized MSM to deflect from the horrible liberal budget appears to have worked initially.
Cost of food and mortgages and gas ( gas up 25 cents / litre this month) is biting
That should resolve some of this.
But you will notice ( paid?) liberal posters pretending to be conservatives asking for a conservative leadership review , and offering liberal talking points are on line everywhere. Even here on your substack.
Sadly working stiffs don’t have time and energy to sort through this liberal chaff.
I read your columns in the Sun Brian and I find you to be extremely fair in your writings. It is seldom I disagree with you. I think the liberals are scared shitless of Pierre Poilievre and that's why they want him gone. He is a voice of common sense and reason, something they know nothing about. Congrats on being an influencer.
The Liberals are not "scared shitless" of Pierre Polievre. A friend who is a staunch and well connected Liberal says they actually prefer PP because they know they can beat him. The CPC has to develop a team of experienced campaign operatives who can think outside the CPC box and turn some of the LPC's dirty tricks against them in a guerilla war style campaign instead of just campaigning on fiscal responsibility. Gerald Butts was good at this, surely someone in the CPC can manage to do the same in response. And Conservatives, for god's sake quit bitching about d'Entremont crossing the floor, it's happened 80 times in the last 25 years, 300 times since Confederation. The more we yell about it, the better the Liberals like it. It's over. Note that NO Conservatve government ever changed the rules to prevent floor crossing, they like it just as much as the Liberals when the crosser comes in their direction, ie Leona Alleslev.
CarbonTax Carney's list of major projects from the major projects office is merely a lip-service attempt to show Canadians "...see, I've got some sh!t happening". Under his breath though, he's muttering, "...this should keep silly Canadians busy thinking I'm so progressive and on top of things - now I can get back to my climate agenda subterfuge". These 'projects' are a bunch of underwhelming duds injecting nothing into the Canadian GDP....now about those EV mandates
This MPO is a major con - allowing the PM to have a big say as to what projects move forward or not! Why not improve the regulatory and assessment process (remove uneccessary barriers, including FN consultation barriers) and let the proponent figure out if the project is worthwhile taking further. PP is correct - remove the barriers and let current and future investors decide the merits of making a major development happen. I challenge the reader to look at the past 10 year chart of the Canadian dollar versus any other currency - it doesn't look good. Canada needs a serious wake-up call in my opinion.
If what’s going on at the moment $80bn deficit as I predicted before Freeland walked, doesn’t waken Canadians up, nothing will. But then, so few bother about such trifles as the economy until their welfare cheque stops.
Indeed - that is the worrying part! Sadly, it's going to take something significant (like some good investigative journalism - if it exists), to expose the corruption and major conflicts of interest at high levels of government OR a huge scandel of some form. David at "Mooseontheloose" has made a start at this on www.moosechart.ca. This requires detailed assessment to follow the money. Maybe this might offer the beginning of a wake-up call??? Likley not, sadly.
Just saw that ridiculous GS banker, Hodgson, babbling away again on P and P with football analogies about today’s announcements. These are not serious people.
It's stunning to learn that the Liberals would blow out political capital to announce a second round of Super Duper, nation building projects and then state that just because they made the cut doesn't mean they're approved.
Huh? That only makes sense if some projects were late add-ons to provide bulk and the optics of busyness, when the real story is just a typical slower than molasses Liberal government program.
At the presser, they hauled out Jean Charest's Trilateral Commission BFF, Dawn Farrell, who somehow got the gig to run the major project's office after presiding over Transalta while it lost almost half its' value. Where do they find these people? So many questions.
I’m not sure why you are so concerned with the Liberals trying to undermine the Conservatives - PP does that every time he opens his angry mouth. Besides, that story is so last week.
If I hated Canada then I would support PP. Conservatives need to get a new leader who doesn’t constantly spout anger and who actually wants to build something rather than just tear down. And this is coming from a former Conservative who voted that way in every election except for the last one.
No one is afraid of PP. He is his own worst enemy. If CPC wants to reaffirm his as leader then so be it. But if they actually want a better chance at ever forming the government then they should find someone with a more positive message. And ideally they should pick someone who has actually accomplished something other than political criticism.

At this point, I couldn’t be more cynical about this man; his govt.

So keep writing Mr Lilley. Thank you
It’s not just them but those lying msm, that these politicians keep kissing a…to
As soon as a sniff of possible election the spears and arrows come out against Pierre it’s so obvious

The Conservatives need to use AI!
Congratulations on being an influencer. Much deserved.

Nailed it - 100%💯
That's right Jimmy. A lot of who shot John but nothing of real substance to help us out.

How do you wake people out of a coma??

Rebel News, in my view, has changed significantly in the last few years. They've matured, they are doing good journalism.
Way better than any msm, including the lying Edmonton Sun, what a rag
Just saw that ridiculous GS banker, Hodgson, babbling away again on P and P with football analogies about today’s announcements. These are not serious people.
Congratulations, Brian! .....your next stop...reforming the CBC !
Most Conservative voters are behind Pierre. We stand with him and won’t change our minds because Carney is the same Liberal bullshitter as Justin was.
Piece of 💩 trying to gaslight Canada.. pretending to put national projects in place 🤬
It's stunning to learn that the Liberals would blow out political capital to announce a second round of Super Duper, nation building projects and then state that just because they made the cut doesn't mean they're approved.

Big ups to B Lil lol

He is the opposition you know Kevin.
You must hate Canadians and Canada because you want us to continue to fail under the Liberals. Either that or you’re a troll.
If I hated Canada then I would support PP. Conservatives need to get a new leader who doesn’t constantly spout anger and who actually wants to build something rather than just tear down. And this is coming from a former Conservative who voted that way in every election except for the last one.
Kevin, a lot if us are angry just like Pierre when we see what has become of Canada in the last decade.
Shut up! There is nothing wrong with Pierre. He is the most brilliant politician we have!!!
If that’s true then the CPC is in serious trouble.
Is that why the Libs are so afraid of him??? Because I can tell ya Carney looking worse with each passing day!!
