Carney's feeble project list, BLill as an influencer and more...
Plus, Poilievre keeps pushing back.
Really, what should we make of Mark Carney’s big announcement today about the new list of major projects in the national interest? You would think, based on how these projects are talked about that these were all projects moving ahead.
In the first “tranche” of projects to use the government’s language, it was mostly projects that were near completion. In this second list, it’s a mix and some projects are close to being done and others are not but the government is saying that just because you are on the list doesn’t mean your project will go forward.
“Referring to the MPO, the major projects office, does not mean the project is approved,” Carney said on Thursday.
As I asked in my Toronto Sun column, what is the point of this?
There is an awful lot of theatre involved in all of this which might be good politics, but is bad economic policy.
Spoke with Adrienne Batra and Lorrie Goldstein about these issues in an episide of Batra’s Burning Questions on Thursday.
An influencer by any other name…
I’ve been meaning to publish this for the last few days, but I always found more important issues to talk about. Today though, I just want you to know that you are following one of the most influential voices in online media in this country.
In a study by Oxford University and the Reuters Institute, I was listed as one of the people most mentioned by Canadians for influencing news and public commentary.
I show up at number 10 on the list, the only Canadian ahead of me is Jordan Peterson, which I will gladly take. For all of those who will say this is a BS rightwing list, this list includes left wing Americans above me, so the claim is baseless.
One of the frustrations that I have with this report is that they list me as a co-founder of Rebel News and link me back to them. I left Rebel in August of 2017 for very valid reasons and I tend not to talk about them - wish they felt the same way,
Anyway, I’m not going to humble brag, I will just brag.
Poilievre shouldn’t back down is my view…
You know what the MSM view of Poilievre is going to be, he should apologize, he should wear a hair shirt and sit in the town square in sack cloth and ashes.
Of course, that is not my view.
Poilievre is the focus of the MSM which doesn’t want to talk about the budget as much as they want to talk about trouble within the Conservative ranks. Sure. there are problems in the Conservative ranks but there are also problems in the Liberal ranks which I have pointed out but others won’t discuss.
Here’s my video on that the Carney Liberals are trying to do.

At this point, I couldn’t be more cynical about this man; his govt.
Until I see or hear different this past week of budget and project announcement is just one huge Liberal "dog and pony" show. They are over selling to the nth degree . What is upsetting the most is that there is no "palace revolt", no one in this party can be that naive to believe in this pie in the sky budget. In the past 10 years we have gone from the horror distaste of 20 billion dollar debt to the the projected 80 billion and this Liberal party says this good for the country and Canadians - fantasy land in spades. I will not even begin to outline the downward evolution of our "hypothetical" judicial system.
