There is NO upside to Canada joining up to the EU in any capacity. None whatsoever and what does Brussels know or care about Canada and Canadians other than what we have to offer.
I believe that's what it's all about... what the EU can take from us, and what Carney can get from them for himself. Like MPs are just good for votes, Canadians are just good for providing taxes to finance it all.

It is clear the world is moving in a multipolar direction (probably bipolar). The choices are going to be America and China, nothing else.

Canada doesn’t seem to have the free speech the U.S has. Just my opinion, I have found until a few years ago, some independent news media have banned comments (nothing to do with profanity) that would absolutely be considered free speech in the U.S. Legacy Canadian media outlets have generally moved toward more restricted, heavily moderated, or entirely closed comment sections, rather than expanding free speech.
Mark carney’s dream fulfilled. No one voted for this and I didn’t see anyone campaigning on it. It makes 0 sense, unless you’re Carney dreaming of your next davos designated role. Maybe head of the ECB or even dare I say it the next VdL. Us lowly plebs have been told where we stand and will be told our new rules in due time from Brussels. Rules that no one ever advocated for. I see that the price of inclusion includes giving almost a $1B to Ukraine, digital ID and a plethora of climate regulations. how is that going to help any normal Canadian on the street?!?!
The Europeans will likely suffer in winter as their lack of energy resources will hurt. A serious partner would be planning on helping them by trying to build energy infrastructure as quick as possible to support them. I see none of that and more of bureaucrats sitting in air conditioned rooms aligning new rules and regulations.
Carney can blather about almost anything and the corrupt main media just spin along to make it all sound good. They play the Trump is bad nonsense while ignoring the horrible situation in Canada after 12 years of Liberal / WEF.
These media outlets seem criminal in their intent and reporting and the elbows voters don’t investigate or think it through.
The conservative leader has good sound ideas that come through in his podcasts, along with clarity around his family values and demure. Of course play the narrative that he is mean as they know he will kill the money being sent to the media once he is elected.
Most of what we have available in media is liberal spin with not much questioning or clarity; hardly a word about the conservative platform.
Digital ID would have made it so much easier for Trudeau to contril the truckers in Ottawa. Come to think of it, it's time for everyone to gas up and head for Ottawa, while you still have gas.
Easier student exchange? Oh good. We can get some of those rioters destroying parts of Paris to come here and "study."
I think Alberta made a serious mistake voting not to hold a referendum. In light of this, they might want a do-over.
I'm all for broader ties with europe, we need to diversify.
Canadians also deserve the right to know what is being signed, and not just have the agreement rammed through parliament.

1. Make public the complete proposed terms and obligations of any associate membership arrangement with the European Union before entering into such an agreement;
2. Preserve Canada's sovereign legislative, judicial, fiscal and regulatory authority in any such agreement; and
3. Hold a national referendum on whether Canada should enter into any form of associate membership with the European Union before entering into such an agreement.
Carney has never forgiven the UK for ignoring his inappropriate enlightenment from the BoE pulpit by voting to leave the EU and wants Canada to atone by submitting to the unaccountable rule of foreign technocrat. He has never given up on his failure to engineer a banking cartel depriving the energy sector of financing. He prefers the dead hand of the state to the invisible hand of the free market and what better way to achieve his "values" than to offshore our sovereignty where Canadians will have little democratic say in their future. That the EU won't survive the remainder of this decade is apparently immaterial to the global elites that break bread with Trudeau's mentor and successor. Germany and the UK are in economic and social decline thanks to Carney-esque climate / energy policies. When it comes to "security", the European "leaders" are itching for a war with Russia as a distraction from the increasing likelihood of civil unrest over the economy and suicidal immigration / importation, again policies that align with our WEFer PM. Carney's playing the "Trump" card was brilliant domestic politics but the economic reckoning is coming and Canadians will not feel very smug about it.

Everybody is so worried about losing sovereignty when it's too early to say. Immigration and taxation would not be jeopardized because each EU member country already has their own taxation and immigration policies. Regardless, if this is what we want to pursue, then the Energy-East Pipeline should be resurrected (or a hybrid pipeline) so we can access European markets. Getting a pipeline to the east coast should be the #1 priority.
