Carney and Trump forlorn lovers or bitter enemies...
Canada seems to be on a pre-determined collision course with the USA. Plus more on the CBC/Dhanraj files and the stupid bike lanes decision.

The famous break-up line is that “It’s not you, it’s me.” That should be Canada’s line to the United States as we breeze past the August 1 deadline for signing a deal or facing higher tariffs.
Carney and Trump, are to use an old line from a song, lovers in a dangerous time.
Let’s be honest, the problem in the trade talks between the US and Canada is Canada.
Some will take that statement as unpatriotic – though I’ve been reliably informed by progressives that we shouldn’t be patriotic because our country is a horrible, genocidal state. Not that I’ve ever agreed with that, but this is the mindset of the people who run our country.
So, why would a Canadian say that Canada is the problem in these trade negotiations?
That’s simply because I speak to people across all sectors of industry, I speak to people in the United States and Canada, and I speak to people across the political spectrum. When you do that, which few people do, you get a broader sense of what is going on.
Canada refuses to put any issues on the table. We refuse to acknowledge any American trade irritants while demanding they acknowledge ours. As a country, we demand full access to the American economy while insisting that we keep our protectionist measures in place on agriculture, on banking, telecom, media, supply management and more.
We’ve also been the major impediment to trade deals with other close allies, like Britain, where we threw away a trade deal rather than let them export cheddar cheese to our country.
Then there is also the fact that on the eve of a potential deal with Trump, we decide to announce that we will recognize a Palestinian State. Trump’s main goal in the Middle East is to release the hostages and secure a ceasefire.
Our move as a country, as I explain in my Sun column does not help that, in fact it does the opposite.
And while some might dismiss me as simply a conservative commentator, others know that I have a large audience and am someone they should speak to. That means, you aren’t getting one-sided views when you listen to me, I’m speaking to all sides while approaching issues with my own point of view.
So, yes, Canada is a major impediment to reaching a new trade deal, in part because some in Ottawa don’t want to get a new deal. It helps them if there is no new deal, because a fight with the Americans will always be politically advantageous.

Are we sabotaging ourselves...
This was an issue that I raised in my column posted at the Toronto Sun on Thursday morning. Is Mark Carney trying to ensure that we end up in a trade war with the United States because he knows/believes that it will be politically beneficial for him to engage in a trade war.
It’s not crazy to think that and as I point out in my column, we can either believe that, or we can believe that the leadership of our country is incompetent.
How else do you decide to announce on the eve of a potential trade deal with the American administration that you are about to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian State? Trump has made securing a peace deal key to his administration and our announcement makes a peace deal less likely because Hamas now has the support of Canada.
Now, our trade deal with the Americans is in danger.

Stupid anti-Americanism...
I’ve struggled to understand the stupid anti-Americanism that exists in our country. We love to hate them while lapping up their politics, their culture and spending most of vacation time stateside.
I was born in Canada to immigrant parents who never hated the US of A. For too many Canadians, including many immigrants or children of immigrants like me, there is a strong anti-American sentiment.
Why?
Sure, many of the people who initially settled in much of Atlantic Canada, across Anglo-Quebec and Ontario, were people who fled the American revolution. That was more than 240 years ago, and we should be over it by now, but the bitterness remains.
This anti-American sentiment sees us too often cut off our nose to spite our faces and I worry that is what we are doing now.

Bike lanes are a Charter right...
Let’s be blunt, Paul Schabas is one of the worst judicial appointments in the history of judicial appointments. So-called “Justice” Schabas is a left-wing activist lawyer turned left-wing activist judge, and his rulings are an abomination.
This is the guy who just said that bike lanes in Toronto are a Charter right.
This man is an idiot.
He has no concern for our judicial traditions or our legal system. He wants to use his position as a judge to push his own far left political agenda on the public,
Thanks to Justin Trudeau and his then Justice Minister David Lametti who appointed this moron in 2019, we are stuck with him for decades until he retires. What I can promise you is that I will continue to point out the horrible rulings of Schabas, because they pre-date this bike lanes ruling and there will be more to come.
He was the lead judge in writing the decision saying that Jordan Peterson had no claim to freedom of expression as he fought the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
When you are this much of a political activist, you just keep going. From my column on his ridiculous ruling which relied on foreign case law and ideas like positive rights which are not part of Canada’s legal tradition.
The idea of positive rights, that the government must take actions on your behalf, is a relatively new idea by comparison and one upheld by the far-left activists that Justice Schabas has long been associated with.
He cites myriad of cases, some of which he would disagree with if taken to their logical conclusion, like Chaoulli, but uses them to push his point. He even cites American case law to try and make his ridiculous claim there is a “positive right” that obliges the government to provide bike lanes.
Beyond that, Schabas admitted in his own ruling, that certain parts of the challenge didn’t raise constitutional arguments, but he applied them anyway.
“The constitutionality of the current provision was not, technically, challenged in this application, as it was enacted after the case was argued. However, the findings in these Reasons have application to the continuing controversy between the parties and the government’s proposed action,” Schabas said.
Why is this man a judge other than his politics aligned with Trudeau and Lametti. For those who think you are now done with these men, Lametti is now Mark Carney’s Principal Secretary and is advising him on all matters.
We are in a bad spot Canada.
CBC is like Hotel California…
You can check out of CBC anytime you want, but you can never leave. That’s what makes CBC just like the Hotel California in the Eagles 1977 hit.
Travis Dhanraj resigned more than three weeks ago, but they won’t let him leave.
As I discuss in my most recent column, Dhanraj resigned in early July after months of being off the air but they still consider him an employee. This despite him ripping them on the way out the door.

Less than 48 hours before the deadline to finalize an agreement with our largest by far main trading partner and the world’s largest economy - Mark Carney a very educated intelligent man with global experience announces publicly that he will support Palestine(ruled by Hamas) at the UN in September. 🤔Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Canada.
What was the purpose of such an announcement? Will it advance peace in the Middle East? Will it get Hamas and the other Iran sponsored proxies to allow Israel to live in peace? How will such a diplomatic display of utter incompetence help our relations with other countries or more importantly act in the best interest of Canadians. Who authorized Mark Carney to do this? We had a federal election over 3 months where all MPs were elected to represent Canadians and give us a voice. Such a declaration must be debated and voted on in parliament. How dare he and the Liberal regime pull such a stunt. Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative MPs need to be working with each opposition MP to get their support for an immediate vote of non-confidence to remove this pathetic group of globalist fuck ups and disgusting excuse of a government. Canadians deserve so much better. Liberals must go! Now!
Call, email, and write your local MP. Canada will not survive another term with these people in government.
Carney. Idiot. Incompetent. Conflicted. Liar.
We are doomed
