Lots going on quietly. Most people don’t advertise their departure. Liquidation of assets. But there are many. And Carney knows this too. He doesn’t care. And I write this from Vienna. Which was very similar to Toronto 100 years ago in terms of size and accomplishment of its Jewish community. All but erased. And yes. Vienna, which was a global epicentre of excellence in so many areas, well….

I am surprised at the number of effective people I run into who are trying to leave. They run into roadblocks, of course. Sadly, they don't think it is worth trying to fix things at home but that might be the only real option. First, defund the legacy media so that we can have honest discussions again that are not being drowned out by its noise.

John Powell's avatar

It’s awful. And a direct result of federal government DEI and Chows pandering to Muslim minorities along with most provincial premiers. I hate this terrible antisemitism

John Powell's avatar

Not so Fun fact. Carney said :” Muslim values are Canadian values. “

One of Carney’s current speech writers is a man named Lloyd Rang who serves as a Clarington ward 2 councillor. Owns a liberal PR firm.

Muslim population in Durham in 2021was 7.5 %. It has probably doubled since then.

Unfettered unvetted immigration is the root cause of many troubling issues in Canada.

The biggest problem is that we cannot have honest discussions about WHO is committing anti-Semitic acts and participating in hate marches and WHY they are doing it. If the Conservative Party wanted to be useful, it could begun by sponsoring such discussions.

“The answer” is to deport all the newly arrived people who are responsible for these crimes.

Donald Ashman's avatar

It is not just the newly arrived.

It is in the law schools, the high schools, the academy, and even our public schools.

As Brian alludes, it is endemic in our society; it is truly “who we are”.

Angela's avatar

I'm ashamed this is happening in Canada. I guess "never again" was simply a slogan that meant nothing! How ignorant have we become as a society? I want no part of it.

Donald Ashman's avatar

You put that really well, Angela.

I too am ashamed. These are words I felt I would never have to type.

Canada prefers the new immigrants to the Jews. That is why the situation is tolerated. Perhaps even, dare I say, encouraged.

shelley carrington's avatar

When you have a PM who has shown anti-Semitism, you can definitely expect an increase of hatred towards our Jewish communities! Deplorable and needs to be addressed immediately as this is not acceptable

Donald Ashman's avatar

The Liberal Party flicked on the green light.

Antisemitism became fashionable as a result of the actions of Justin Trudeau, Mark Carney, and the Liberal Party of Canada.

Angela's avatar

Thing is it's really not just about the Jews. Do people understand that? If getting rid of all Jews actually happens, guess who is next?

Donald Ashman's avatar

First of all, Brian, good on you for taking a stand.

I admit to being so naive: I never thought antisemitism could take hold in Canada. I thought we were too civilized, too cosmopolitan, and too caring to ever let such a cancer grow.

I am of the generation that demanded Jewish folks be welcomed to our private clubs, our professional schools, and our elected positions. That we have receded so precipitously should be a source of national shame.

What is the answer? The first step is to declare that this is unacceptable, and that it shall not continue. The second step is to stop the institutional demonizing of Israel, Zionism, and the belief that Jews are the source of all ills in society. The third step is to stop infantilising and contextualising the folks that hold views that are contrary to our common good.

The fourth step is to vigorously arrest and prosecute “protesters” whose motives are antithetical to a civilised Western Society.

Until we are ready to take these steps, might as well buckle up and get used to more of the same.

We have a Prime Minister who felt it prudent to “recognise” a Country that doesn’t exist, and to claim the Israeli President would be arrested if he landed in Canada.

Perhaps we could start there.

Athol Cohen's avatar

And what do we get from our jet-setting Prime Minister Mark Carney? Not a word - only virtue signalling and Muslim Values are Canadian Values! Really?

Denyse I O'Leary's avatar

Has anyone done a study on who engages in anti-Semitic hate marches, defacements of synagogues, or attacks on Jewish businesses in Canada and published the results? If so, we could make that a starting point in deciding what to do.

If not, why hasn't anyone done that? Because the researchers would be attacked for posting honest results - because they raise too many sensitive issues?

This is only one of the many disasters our national self-righteousness is pushing us towards.

If I tried to engage my neighbours in any kind of a discussion of this, the talk would soon pivot to the embodiment of evil, Donald Trump. I am beginning to see how sick all that is. It is a way of NOT seeing what we need to see here and now in Canada.

Angela's avatar

That's why Trump isn't the reason, it's a deflection of what is happening in the country! And people fell for it! Stupidity is a choice!

Nathan Reid's avatar

Cause you know we have a 2 tier Justice system one for immigrants and one for us national born citizens

Angela's avatar

And it's only going to get worse cuz "hurt feelings" are now taken into consideration. How stupid are we?

Liz Innes's avatar

"Muslim values are Canada's values".

Nathan Reid's avatar

And targeting Jewish citizens in Canada I forgot to add to my post

Pat's avatar

Maybe they, the Jewish community (AIPAC) needs to rethink what politician and party they support and vote for.

STEWART SCHNEIDER's avatar

Not if it means being an accomplice to the antisemites...enabling them like the so-called useful idiot "rabbis" who are paid to participate in pro-hamas demonstrations.

Nancy Sweiger's avatar

What does it say when you welcome, with open arms, those who will openly start a "war" with another ethnic group?

Our economy is in the dumpster and now Social anxiety and unrest are on the rise; the perfect storm for someone who is a Globalist and partnering with a Communist Country...........

Christine Barnett's avatar

If Canada was the perfect breeding ground for global transformation, where did understanding of human nature factor in.

The Jewish community has always existed along side Christianity. Relatively amicably.

The situation now is unconscionable.

Personally , I have always admired those that continuously contributed to western societies. This is evident in the financial, judicial, economic landscape and the entertainment industry.

They are very well versed in “money management”, to their benefit and their communities.

Their values are our values. Yes, maybe on different level. But they don’t discount society as a whole. They embrace it.

Why would you fault them for that?

Then we have these acts of retribution?? For what exactly.

There are cultures and ideologies that are not copacetic. They will never integrate. Yet we welcome anyone regardless of their motives.

Why?

Apparently, those that dictate policies don’t have to live by those same mandates. Obtuse behaviour for those proposing to lead.

My heart goes out to the Jewish communities.

Why is Housefather standing in front of the building claiming he cares. The hypocrisy of the liberals is on full display everyday now.

STEWART SCHNEIDER's avatar

Canada is rapidly looking more like Germany in the 1930's than the country we grew up in. Getting worse now than ever before and the Carney Liberals are doing nothing to fix it...they don't want to offend all their antisemitic supporters.

I’m ashamed at the lack of effort to protect this community. The burning continues across Canada.
