I beleive Pierre Poilievre

I believe Pierre, I am quite aware of Carney resume and find ut would be most valuable at the bottom if the bird cage. Results is what we need. I am also New Blue in Ontario. Done with Liberal Light Ford.

Whenever CBC wanted an economist for their "At issue" panel they would tap Jim Stafford, chief economist for the CAW (later UNIFOR). Which is to say, you can have a degree in economics, and be an economist, without having a bloody clue about how the economy really works. I'm pretty sure Carney is that kind of economist.

The smart ones will believe Polievre, the rest will believe Carney and won't realize their mistake until they live his economy. I hope there is a Canada left to save when that happens.

Sadly for Canada I agree with you, Brian that on the economy (and much else besides) Pierre is right and Carney (& co) are wrong but the people want to and will believe Carney. Canada has become an over-degreed (not the same as educated let alone intelligent) populace that puts too much stock into credentialism. You're absolutely right that in a battle of resumes alone (and not looking at actual job performance) Pierre can't win against Carney despite the fact that his work experience actually qualifies him for PM-ship far more than Carney's. Canadians are going to have experience Carney's job performance abilities (or lack thereof) for themselves.

well..One year with Carney, and look where we are... if they can't see THAT.. and what his true agenda is, they never will..

A $67B deficit doesn’t exactly scream fiscal prudence. Add to that another $25B for his “sovereign wealth fund” and this country will remain stuck in the mud for a long, long time. Credentialed and connected doesn’t make the man a responsible manager of a national economy. I’ll take Poilievre any day with or without the fancy education.

The proof is in front of our eyes. Anyone not seeing what Carney is doing needs to attend public school again just for math!!

PRAIRIESUN615530's avatar

and for ETHICS TRAINING AS CARNEY AND HIS CABINET DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE THAT MOST IMPORTANT SKILL.

I’d believe Poilievre over Carney any day. Carney is a Euro-WEF man through and through. He is crashing the economy deliberately, leaving many of us impoverished and trying to understand what is happening to Canada. Mark is getting us ready for whatever is planned for 2030. Poilievre has the answers that the Liberals don’t want anyone to hear, because economically he could turn things around quickly in Canada and also put an end to the corruption that has become rampant in government under the Liberal Party

JAIL WITH NO BAIL FOR THE CARNEY AND FREELAND AND HIS CABINET...ROBBING TAXPAYERS AND STEALING WORKERS CPP FUNDS IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR RCMP???

"Admittedly he came close and if the campaign had gone another week without a Trump eruption, I think Poilievre might have been able to win"...

I would add: and if the media wasn't so heavily biased and if there wasn't any foreign interference. Just saying...

The Modern Mantuamaker's avatar

The media is well past biased; at this point it's flat out bigotry and intentional election interference.

Al B's avatar

You know what's strange? Lately the media have been subtly dropping the truth, like their liberal pail of water has a small leak. Giving Poilievre credit without actually saying his name.

Excellent interview with Brian Peckford. Where have leaders like him gone?

Lord Chancellor's avatar

“Are Doug Ford’s poll numbers falling?”

Doug didn’t win the last election based on merit. He won because the other candidates sucked. Sad, but true

Carsten Hatorp's avatar

Hopefully Pierre as I do!!

Mark S's avatar

Believe? There’s only ONE truth, and you’d have to be a total idiot not to see it.

Mike Blew's avatar

Ark, that means over 50% of Canadians are idiots and I agree with you.

Toronto and Ottawa being the centre of the universe and all - they can keep their credentialed politicians to themselves.

Brian captures the situation concisely: "Right now, most Canadians don’t see Carney as doing bad on the economy and they are still blaming pretty much everything about he economy on Trump even if he’s not to blame. That gives Carney a get out of jail free card so to speak, which means that it doesn’t matter if Poilievre is right, people aren’t ready to believe him."

So (calculating, calculating...) getting rid of Poilievre is NOT the answer for the Conservatives. It doesn't matter who is in charge of the Conservatives as long as Canadians can Dump on Trump and thus escape facing hard realities.

But in January '29, Trump leaves office. If a Dem replaces him, the Libs will have an awkward time blaming him (her?) in the same way. The Lib voters instinctively support Dems. If 48 is GOP (say, Vance or Rubio), the schtick will still wear thin because neither of them is Mr. Evil. And, more to the point, it will be evident that the Libs have no useful strategies to stave off continuing decline. That's the best case I can think of for Conservatives just hanging in and waiting.

The Modern Mantuamaker's avatar

Yup! And something occurred to me today - conservatives are now doing way too much navel-gazing while Libs do absolutely none. We're in danger of repeating our own worst tendency - tearing ourselves apart. It's the other side of the double-edged sword of being more inclined towards contrariness and independent and diverse thinking. We need to stop henpecking our own and rally together.
