When I'm defending Mark Carney then things are weird...

Plus, the deadline has passed and now we know what a disaster his gun buyback program is.

Prorogation is not a dirty word, yet the left made it one to attack Stephen Harper and now they can’t use this valid Parliamentary tool.

There was a story in The Globe and Mail that Mark Carney was considering proroguing the House of Commons if he gets his majority on April 13. In my view, it’s not a question of whether he will get a majority but by how much.

I think he will win all three by-elections which will give the Liberals a majority plus 2.

So, as I explain in my Toronto Sun column there are many reasons for the Liberals to prorogue the House of Commons. Read the column to understand why, if I were on Mark Carney’s team, I’d be pushing for the House to prorogue.

I don’t think Carney owes anyone an apology…

I promise this won’t become a habit unless he starts listening to what I say and acting on it, but when it comes to this call for an apology, I think it’s nuts.

On Monday, Carney was holding a news conference on housing with Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Protesters aligned with the Grassy Narrows First Nation showed up and tried shouting the whole thing down.

At times it was chanting, at other times it sounded like singing.

Regardless of what it was, the noise was incredibly disruptive to the whole event. At times Carney was being drowned out and people couldn’t hear what he was saying.

The disruption ebbed and flowed and once when it picked up again, Carney said, “I can outlast her.”

Now the activists are making a fuss and demanding an apology.

“I am disgusted with the prime minister for saying ‘I can outlast her’ because our people are dying prematurely. Shame on him for laughing at people who are sick and bullying a woman, and shame on those who laughed along with him,” Grassy Narrows First Nation Chief Sherry Ackabee said in a statement.

They want you to think Carney was saying he can outlast a woman who is ill from mercury poisoning.

Give me a break.

They are also demanding a meeting. Well, then ask for a meeting, don’t try to disrupt him at other events.

It’s not like this government isn’t open to Indigenous issues.

The gun “buyback” program is a disaster…

By some estimates there are more than 2 million guns in Canada that are covered by the ban and the government “buyback” program. I know that the government never owned the guns so they can’t buy them back, but it’s what they called the program.

We have the official results and just over 67,000 guns have been declared and registered with the government.

They had been hoping to collect closer to 150,000 and that’s what they budgeted for on payouts to gun owners. Getting so few gun owners to register shows a high level of non-compliance and a program that was clearly ill-thought out.

MP’s get a pay raise and that beer you are crying in just got more expensive…

A few things went up today, including the industrial carbon tax.

Also increasing, MPs pay and the cost of booze. Once again, the anti-democratic escalator tax hike on alcohol went up by 2%.

It shouldn’t be happening at all as I explain in this video.
