First off - I have not listened to podcast Brian has posted today - however, I will. I was never a fan of Mark Carney - I did not like the way the Liberals jammed him through to their leadership convention, how they kicked Ruby Dahlia and Chandra Arya out of the party because they had the effrontery to run against him - then they stripped Arya of his safe Liberal Ottawa riding seat - a seat he had held for well over a decade and the party just handed it to Carney instead. That was a sham. So right off the bat, something smelled. That scent unfortunately has lingered. I was, like Brian Lilley, willing to be optimistic however - I was willing to wait and see what he would do in office. My patience has long since run out. Carney is the master of talking but not doing. He tells the west one thing then he tells Quebec the opposite. He flies all over the globe - pretends he is signing meaningful trade deal's only to come home with great fanfare from the CBC and CTV and The Toronto Star while only clutching meaningless M.O.U.‘s- documents that are not worth the paper they are written on. He has in reality not signed one trade deal with anyone while his medla lapdogs have somehow convinced a sizeable chunk of the Canadian population that somehow all of Canadas problems are due to Donald Trump. Meanwhile - Trump rolls into the very countries that Carney has just left and leaves with multibillion dollar trade deals - including oil and gas, yet somehow Trump is portrayed in Canada as the unreliable one, the guy who is not willing to negotiate with us. The facts do not support that assertion. Carney has announced not one new pipeline, not one new LNG facility, not one new refinery, not one new port. He has offered nothing to the Canadian auto, steel, aluminum or lumber industry other than loans. He has instead cozied up to China and their auto and steel industry instead. Heb has failed to deliver on housing and on food prices - all of which can be easily solved by getting rid of taxes places on this economy by the Liberals themselves - and at this time of rampant unaffordability in this country - the most hated tax of all, The Industrial Carbon Tax is about to go up from $ 95 a metric tonne to $ 110 a metric tonne on April 1. The Liberals are saying nothing about it. When that impacts fuel and groceries and clothing and everything else that is manufactured here, transported here, warehoused here and retailed here, driving the costs up even higher - who benefits the most ? The government because the higher the prices go:- the more they collect in GST from the price increases.
Carney does not care about Canada or Canadians- he cares about one thing - monitizing carbon credits. He is only interested in setting himself and his uber wealthy WEF insiders up at the center of a new Marketplace - where carbon credits will be bought and sold. First he needs countries to follow him into buying into the whole carbon credit scheme - he will sell it to them as a revenue stream - carbon producers will need credits to stay in business and they will get these credits from governments or low carbon producers who have credits to sell, and where will all of these credits be available for sale - why in the new carbon marketplace - and who will be at the center of this new carbon marketplace - why Mark Carney, Michael Bloomberg, Brookfield and their uber wealthy WEF friends who they have let in on the scheme. This is where Carney and Brookfieid see themselves and that is why he came back to Canada after his private initiative to do the exact same scheme failed ( GFANZ) and his reputation amongst the international investment banking system was sullied. Taking over as a leader of a country gives him a new angle and some credibility and that’s what this is all about. That is why he travels so much and has not done a damn thing for the Canadian economy- or trade - he could care less, he has bigger fish to fry and Canada is only a means to an end to getting this thing off the ground. Unfortunately Canada - and the Liberals who support him the most, are the ones who are going to pay in the end.
Great comment. Lots of us knew Carney was really bad news before he was elected, but he managed to fool enough voters that the Orange Man was going to take us over. And now, like Trudeau, we can't get rid oh him.
First off I agree fully the thrust of your comment but I’m prepared to frame it somewhat more gently. I suspect that Carney, his family, and his international colleagues in the WEF and elsewhere, truly believe that by pushing the “transition” they are making the world a better place. I imagine if you'd asked Carney two years ago how net-zero zero might affect the country he grew up in, he would acknowledge that such a move would be tougher for Canada than elsewhere but net-zero is a necessary condition for humanity’s long-term survival and the sooner all countries get on board the better. In fact thanks, in no small part to Carney himself, “getting on board” was exactly what western democracies and institutions were doing until the election of Donald Trump. Carney’s last job was running Brookfield’s Transition fund where presumably investors are trusting fund managers to turn a profit promoting and financing “clean energy.” Now thanks to some clever maneuvering by the Liberal party with help from Donald Trump’s tariff threats, Carney leaps to a much bigger job as PM of Canada. Canada is in the midst of a self-imposed productivity crisis that may get a lot worse with Trump’s tariffs and Carney got elected by successfully selling himself as the person to turn things around. For the vast majority of Canadians the first and most obvious step in that direction would be to build a pipeline to get more of Canada’s most valuable export into world markets and in so doing set aside the net-zero stuff. Although that would obviously be in Canada’s interest, it very much conflicts with the interests of Carney’s former clients, colleagues, his family’s investment holdings, and his personal values. From what I’ve observed so far he intends to pretend to be open to a pipeline but will not use his Federal authority to overrule various special interests that oppose it while at the same time imposing increased carbon taxation and carbon sequestration conditions that will likely render expanded production uneconomic. What he needs to do is maintain this deceit until a new administration takes hold in the U.S. and steers the world back onto the net-zero pathway. That would save his investments, those of his former clients, and in his view, help “save the world” by keeping Canadian reserves in the ground. Unfortunately rather than save the world Canada will help turn hostile regimes like Russia into indispensable suppliers of oil&gas while at the same time becoming poorer relative to the rest of the world.
Great stuff Clayton and I agree with most of what you are saying. I agree wholeheartedly that Carney is intentionally dragging his feet on pipelines, refineries, ports and LNG facilities- although I think he likes LNG a lot more than he does oil. I think he is hoping that for now - the midterms bring some restraint on Trump by getting a Democratic majority in the Senate and/or the House.
I however disagree with you in your assessment that Carney is acting out of altruism for the planet. I think Carney is acting out of altruism for himself and his wallet. You are a pretty intelligent individual and I do not want to come off as some condescending zealot here - but let me ask you how familiar are you as far as Carney’s involvement with the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero - GFANZ ? For others who may not be aware of this endeavour- let me give them a brief synopsis. GFANZ is a failed financial alliance put together by Mark Carney, Michael Bloomberg - the billionaire former mayor of NYC , and a few other WEF insiders. The aim of GFANZ was to form an alliance of all of the most powerful banking houses and investment houses in the world - Goldman Sachs, J.P Morgan- Chase, Bank of America, Deuche Bank, Vanguard, Blackrock and oh yes - Brookfield among others.. The idea was that they would all band together and they would only lend capital to countries and companies that had a net zero plan in place. No Net Zero plan - no money would be leant to them unless they came up with a Net Zero plan and this would involve the buying and selling of Carbon Credits which GFANZ would be the central marketplace. Unfortunately world events intervened - Covid mostly and one by one the banks and investment houses started pulling out as the GFANZ administration started making up rules as they went along and some of the decisions were not in line with the original intent of the organization. And who was in charge of GFANZ and who was responsible for a lot of these inconsistent decisions ? Why none other than Mark Carney. One by one all of the banks and investment houses pulled out, leaving Carney out of a job and his reputation in tatters. Then, guess who came calling ? Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party. This part of the narrative is skipped over by the Liberal party and the MSM in Canada who are intent on “selling” him as this successful central banker. So this is not Carney’s first kick at this Carbon Marketplace - I think this is just a different tactic. We differ in this one area my friend. I think Carney is motivated dreams of fantastic amounts of money and influence that will make his role as the Prime Minister of a lousy “ Middle Power” look insignificant. Its power and wealth Carney craves and carbon is the vehicle he is going to use to achieve it - if he can pull it all off. Thats a big if. Unfortunately he is dragging down our country and our economy in the process through his complete lack of attention to what he was elected by the Canadian people to do.
Agreed 100%. I wonder how credible Carney would look to his admirers if they knew his complete background and connections. The GFANZ failure would be a good place to start. 😉
Darryl, In 2020 upon leaving his role at the Bank of England Carney accepted a role as UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance while also becoming Vice-Chair at Brookfield Asset Management. I'm familiar with the fact that Carney was the man behind GFANZ and assumed the primary idea was to shift financing away from oil&gas endeavors towards renewables. I was not aware of GFANZ's role in carbon credits but I don’t doubt what you’re saying. I'm inclined to believe that creating GFANZ was consistent with the role he took on at the UN as it came into existence shortly afterwards in conjunction with the Glasgow meeting. I thought American banks pulled out because the U.S. justice department felt they were violating anti-trust laws and others saw the writing on the wall as the Trump administration was pulling the U.S. out of war against CO2 emissions. That Trump policy shift would have been very much to Canada’s benefit had the last election gone differently. You've dug into GFANZ more deeply than I have and your description of how carbon credits were handled sounds more nefarious than I had imagined but, as I said, I think he would have viewed it as consistent with his UN role. Both of your comments are informative, and I suspect, correct. Please don’t worry about offending me if you take issue with what I’ve posted. Carney’s motives can be inferred but are difficult to pin down. The purpose of framing my first comment as I did was to make it clear that no matter what anyone thinks of Carney he’s not going to relent on net-zero. He has way too much invested personally from both a financial and reputational perspective to do that. As long as he’s PM Canada’s prosperity will fall further and further behind that of other nations. I would like to dig into his role in the carbon credit scheme. Can you recommend a source?
Clayton, I have just finished watching today’s posting of Moose on the Loose on YouTube. It is titled “ Had the rug pulled out” Oil CEO CONFIRMS Carney’s policies are BLOCKING new pipelines”. I would seriously urge you to look at it. He goes into great detail about what Carney is doing and he has solid evidence to back up his assertions. He does get into Carney profiting personally from carbon and he is taking credit for projects that he has absolutely nothing to do with. I would urge all of you who read this to go on YouTube to take a look at this - it’s eye opening and the information he is presenting is quite credible and he does provide proof sources.
Clayton, thanks for your response. I take no offence to your thoughtful and reasonable approach to this. Having a conversation over these issues is heathy and educational - there is nothing wrong with listening and considering the thoughts of others - although that is something that is getting harder and harder to do anymore.
I wish I could point you to one source of information on GFANZ and Carney’s involvement and mindset here - because frankly at this time I am not sure there is one. I have picked up bits and pieces of information over the years from various sources - The New York Times, The Toronto Sun, I have even been able to review the files that the U.S. Congress has on GFANZ - it is in the public domain and frankly Mark Carney”s name is very prominent in those files. The U.S. Congress is investigating GFANZ and Carney as well due to his activities and involvement in this organization. There is also a lot of information that you can pick up on independent media as they will look into things and report things that the MSM will not touch. One guy who is particularly detailed around Carney’s conflicts of interest and GFANZ connections is a guy named David Simieritsch who has a podcast called Moose on the Loose. He has a YouTube channel and he is on X and other platforms. Now - David can sometimes get a little biased on some of his conclusions and opinions - so you have to keep that in mind while listening to him - but for the most part he is quite credible. He has a very detailed chart that is considered to be very very accurate - the gold standard - as to all of Carney’s investments and his contacts around the world as well as his myriad of conflicts of interest. This chart is available to anyone I believe on his X account (I do not use X - I watch him on YouTube). There is a lot of information there, in fact it’s mind boggling. I also like Jasmine Laine - she is a rising star in the Conservative movement and she is very thoughtful and logical in her approach. I find her to be most credible. I also really like Marc Nixon - he is a data guy - he will dig for data and present it and he can be very eye opening - plus I Iike his delivery - he reminds me of an old ABC radio newscaster who was very popular in the 1960’s - Paul Harvey. These people have looked into GFANZ in the past and they have presented some enlightening information. You are a very bright and well informed individual Clayton and I have enjoyed hearing from you. My very best wishes to you moving forward. I wish I could be of more help here to you.
Absolutely agree! This is evilness on many levels. To drag this country into doom and gloom first by Trudeau and carried on by Carney all for the almighty power and wealth for a few is treasonous to say the least. This man and the party need to be taken down, and you Liberal voters out there that think this will not come to your door are delusional
Gentle framing is commendable, but still, the picture you paint is damnable and Canadians of all stripes will continue to be taxed to death for the sake of his green agenda. 📔
It's even worse than being taxed to death in my view. Canada is a cold sparsely populated country where abundant, portable, and inexpensive energy has allowed Canadians to live in relative prosperity while providing the world with much the resources and products it needs at competitive prices. We have the 4th largest oil reserves on the planet at a time when additional oil is desperately needed on the world stage. Our Prime Minister along with a majority of the Liberal caucus are dedicated proponents of net-zero both for ideological reasons and in Carney’s case, for personal reasons as well. As a result, not only are we depriving the world of our much needed reserves at a critical time, but the industrial transformation Carney plans to engineer with a combination “regulatory guidance” and borrowed money will have to be net-zero compliant, or as Carney says “climate competitive.” In other words it won’t be cost competitive, further undermining our lagging productivity.
So true Judy. If Carney fails to renegotiate CUSMA - then this country will be in very bad shape economically moving forward. There is only about 15 weeks left until the CUSMA review should be finished - that is not a lot of time and unlike the Mexicans who are at the table right now hammering out their deal with Trump, Carney is MIA. I personally think that he has no interest whatsoever in getting that deal done and the reason is more domestic politics than anything else. Carney made a pledge to Canadians that he would negotiate a deal with no tariffs whatsoever. Unfortunately no one has gotten a deal like that out of Trump and since we pretty much have a deal right now that has zero tariffs - outside of the sectoral ones placed on Autos, Aluminum, Steel and softwood lumber - if he renegotiates a new deal that includes new tariffs then he will face a lot of criticism, even from his own party. He wants to avoid that at all costs. Secondly - if Carney was to negotiate a deal with Trump, then the whole “ blame everything on Trump” campaign that the Liberals have been running on since the election and was successful enough to get them elected as a minority government - that goes totally out the window. How can you criticize and blame the guy you just made a deal with for all of our problems when … you just made a deal with him ? If a deal is made, the spotlight falls off of “Trump” and back to domestic issues. Remember late 2024 when Trudeau was PM and Poilievre was ahead by 40 points in the polls - do you recall why Poilievre was so far ahead ? It was because of our economy. Taxes were too high, the nation was running up ridiculously high deficits yet no one was seeing where the money was going, unemployment was up, rent through the roof, a shortage of new homes being built to accommodate the influx of new immigrants, grocery prices climbing consistently, homeless encampments in every city, food bank usage skyrocketing , crime rising , jobs and investment pouring out of the county . Then along came Trump and Carney and all of that was ignored by the Canadian voter - it was all about showing the U.S. we were not going to knuckle under. Poilievre though, kept talking about those domestic issues and he ignored Trump and that focus on domestic policy cost him the election. Carney knows this now - and this is why he cannot possibly renegotiate a new deal with Trump because that will be his death knell. Once he does that the focus of the everyday Canadian will shift back to the domestic issues that are the exact same problems we had back then. Carney knows the Liberals cannot run on that lousy record, they WILL get killed. I think Carney avoids a deal like the plague, gets as much money and legislation as he can in place to get his Net Zero aspirations off to a good start, then he bails and moves back to New York where he came from, He could not give a rats behind about Canada and Canadians - this is about using his position as the head of government here in Canada to enable him to influence government policy that will help him create vast sums of personal wealth for him and a few WEF cronies who he worships. Canada will be left broken and bankrupt - I liken Canada in 10 years to what happened to Venezuela some 40 years ago. a once very prosperous nation with the largest oil reserves in the world, that was driven into the ground and into bankruptcy by decades of bad government. The biggest losers will end up being the Boomer A - Holes - my generation - who have continually and blindly supported the Liberals, no matter what. When the economy completely collapses in Canada after CUSMA falls by the wayside and the country slowly goes bankrupt. - the pension money runs out and property values and therefore their nest eggs sink to 1/10th of what they were pre Covid - those blind idiots are going to reap what they sewed. I hope I am wrong but that’s my vision of Venezcanada.
Yes! I agree, Carney is a snake and the delusional fools that think he is magically going to bring Canada back better wake up. Fancy talk and no action is all we will get from this grifter.
Absolutely. He is only interested in setting up his Carbon Capture facilities that are owned by Brookfield - this is the Pathways Project he and his old Goldman - Sachs protogee, Energy Minister Tim Hodgson have been touting practically daily ( unfortunately Carbon Capture is mostly a theory that has only been tried 2x - once in Saskatchewan and that thing is only running at 46% efficiency despite pouring a billion dollars into it, and they tried a big one in Texas but unfortunately it used more carbon to operate than it actually captured so they closed it down - it was totally unprofitable. In fact the experts agree that none of these facilities will be able to operate without government subsidies- so get ready Canada because those subsidies will be going directly to BROOKFIELD then into Carney’s pockets once they are up and running). His other major initiative is monitizing Carbon through the Carbon marketplace he and his WEF cronies have been trying to set up since GFANZ. This idea has not taken off however but if he can get even a small one off the ground here in Canada he will hope to expand it to other countries. He just wants the Canadian taxpayer to pay for it all. I think getting some consideration on potential carbon pricing and offsets with these foreign governments are what is contained in all of those MOU’s he signs but refuses to reveal the actual contents of to anyone. He needs other countries to agree to setting carbon targets and setting up penalties for those who produce carbon over a level that he and his marketplace will determine. The carbon offenders then will either pay a fine to the government of the country they are located in ( provided that that government plays ball and joins in which is what he HAS been working on - setting up buy in ) OR they buy carbon credits off of companies or countries that are below that set carbon threshold to avoid the fine. The local government of course gets a portion of the sale of the carbon credit and Carney’s Marketplace gets a commission on both ends of the transaction - from the seller and the buyer - making them fabulously wealthy., when you get it scaled up globally..That’s what he is really working on and why he flies around so much and comes home with absolutely nothing - and he does absolutely nothing on the trade front or to deal with all of the domestic issues we have in Canada. He is pressed for time and he wants to get this rolling as soon as possible without any interference - which is why he is so desperate to get a majority government. Without opposition- he can cut debate on bills and ram through any legislation he likes. After those bi-elections and those idiots in Toronto elect 2 more Liberals yet again back to Parliament - he will start it all in earnest and all we can do is stand on the sidelines and watch the beginning of the end of Canada as we knew it and our decline into Venezucanada.
His real goal is to make as money as he can for himself and his investment companies. He will use Canada and it's people to accomplish this, otherwise we are just in his way. He is proving everyday that his rape and pillage of this country is undeniable
Carnage is a globalist. His agenda is to economically wreak Canada. As a puppet of the City of London he is doing exactly what he set out to do. Transfer as much wealth from Canada as he can into his account with Brookfield.
Brian, your headline asks, "What happened to the Mark Carney who promised to make things better?"
I offer three things to ponder: 1) He is a Liberal; 2) He lied about his ability to do things; and 3) Options one and two are simply different ways of saying the same thing: incompetence and falsehood, mendacity and dishonesty.
What happened? That Mark Carney never existed, it was just the usual LPC gaslighting. That’s what they promised: what they delivered was lipstick on the pig.
I just listened to it! Thanks for the heads up. The interview took place just before Carney’s election and Truss assumed Canadians would elect Poilievre and choose a more prosperous path than the net-zero disaster that decimated Britain's economy.
I was watching her new podcast a month or ago. I can't remember who she was talking with but she was asked if she'd ever have Carney on her show. She responded if I ever see or speak to that man again it will too soon!
Carney is not pm for Canadians, he is pm to create wealth for himself, his backers & his business partners. Do not expect anything from him other than photo opts, meaningless MOUs & continued fear mongering.
With 91% of his assets in USA, he wants USA to succeed, not Canada
PM Carney is working for China. The influence of the CCP goes far beyond election interference, espionage, and control of the diaspora. The CCP controls many, if not all, of the Liberal MPs to a far greater extent than most Canadians are aware of. Carney is making it easy for China to invest in Canada and thereby control it. Here is evidence of his contact with CCP operatives.
1) Federal security officials (SITE Task Force) confirmed in April 2025 that a Beijing-linked online operation targeted Liberal Leader Mark Carney on the social media platform WeChat.
Intelligence reports traced these posts to the "Youli-Youmian" account, which is linked to the Chinese Communist Party's central political and legal affairs commission. The task force noted the operation spread both positive and negative narratives about Carney, intended to influence Chinese-Canadian communities. Conservative leaders pointed out that when this foreign interference was revealed, Carney did not directly condemn Beijing's actions, nor did he explain his past connections.
2) From the Jiangsu Commerce Council (JCCC), documents surfaced, exposed by the Globe and Mail. They suggest that Carney attended a JCCC-sponsored event in Toronto. The JCCC has been identified by intelligence sources as a pro-Beijing lobby group with the CCP's United Front Work. Carney denied knowing the group, stating he "never heard of this group and certainly did not have a setup meeting with them". Critics, including Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, highlighted that while Carney was a senior executive at Brookfield Asset Management, the firm received a quarter-billion-dollar loan from the state-owned Bank of China in late 2024, shortly after a meeting involving CCP officials. Carney visited China in 2024, participating in high-level meetings with Chinese officials, which critics say conflicted with his later political leadership in
3) A 2024 report by the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) alleged that some unidentified MPs and senators have "wittingly" or semi-wittingly assisted foreign state actors, including the CCP. Critics argue that under current leadership—which Carney seeks to continue—the Liberal party has failed to remove members suspected of involvement in foreign influence schemes. The Liberal Party continues to face criticism for its handling of nomination processes in ridings flagged by CSIS for foreign influence, such as Don Valley North.
I find this podcast discussion interesting and somewhat confusing. We have a Federal government that has most of if not all of the responsibility for Personal & Corporate tax rates, fiscal policy, federal government budgeting, Canada's international competitiveness , creating an environment for attracting foreign & domestic investment, approving large nation building projects in 6 months not 10 plus years, hiring 10's of thousands of public sector workers that aren't needed and negotiating tariff free agreement with our largest trading partner. All of which were described as going the wrong way. If PM Carney attends meetings on time & is impatient with the speed that things are getting done, great. But that is not what responsibilities of the job should contain. At the end of a year you sit down and get measured by your manager against your responsibilities and how you moved things forward. The fact most economic metrics are worse, after a year when he took over , should mean an "F" rating . But in this case PM Carneys, manager the Canadian voters are saying great job, that is what I find confusing. Until that changes expecting things to get better or change is a fools game.
Carney is a con-man, wolf in sheep's clothing. His WEF based ideology and ties to corporate entities make him even more of a globalist with little regard to what's best for Canada. Perfect example of his china deal.

Will do! Thanks!
Great stuff Clayton - it is excellent work.
Well stated. 👌
100% correct Clayton. Bang on.
All very true. Time will tell where Canada stands…or falls.
Agreed except for one point. It’s not just Carney’s followers who will suffer…WE ALL WILL.
So well said especially “ Carney cares about one thing—monetizing carbon credits”. That’s what this is all about.
His real goal is to make as money as he can for himself and his investment companies. He will use Canada and it's people to accomplish this, otherwise we are just in his way. He is proving everyday that his rape and pillage of this country is undeniable
It certainly seems that way.
He is for Brookfield & himself ‼️
My thoughts exactly!
Carney as a central banker?
Well, look at what he did to England and the U.K., they'll be decades before they get out of his mess.
He is a chronic liar and very immoral. He is carrying out the destructive plan he always had in mind. WAKE up Canadians.....
I find Carney exactly as you say but also more he is a very Rude person especially to Women in the Media which I find intolerable.
His grade🤔—F-
It would be an excellent interview if you could get former British PM Liz Truss, to talk about Carney.
Lilley already did that. It aired about a year ago. Very eye opening.
I 100 % agree. Carney does not care if Canada is prosperous as his assets are in the US.
Canada is just where Mr. Carney parks his car.
D- is his grade after one year.
Sorry, but no one in Canada fails.
Correction: half of Canadian voters blindly support him and he ignores and denigrates the other half.
Carney is a con-man, wolf in sheep's clothing. His WEF based ideology and ties to corporate entities make him even more of a globalist with little regard to what's best for Canada. Perfect example of his china deal.
