What cops ‘covered up’ about the Nova Scotia massacre
A Full Comment Podcast on that dark April of 2020
I thought this episode had been automatically uploaded to the website, but I’ll be honest there are so many things going on, so many pieces of content going out and so many internet gremlins that things go missing.
Just over a month ago I spoke to journalist and author Paul Palango about the Nova Scotia Massacre of April 2020 and why he thinks there is a police cover-up. He’s written a book titled, Anatomy of a Cover-Up: The Truth about the RCMP and the Nova Scotia Massacres.
There are some pretty explosive allegations within it.
Palango is the type of journalist they don’t make anymore. The man is like me, from Hamilton a city where everyone has an angle and you’re trying to figure it out.
If you don’t grow up with that, maybe you don’t get it and you likely never will. I grew up with guys who had an angle on everything, seeing that makes you more skeptical in life, which is a good thing for a journalist.
If your life is too coddled, you won’t look past the answers you are fed.
Anyway, Paul and I had a good chat about his book and the explosive allegations in it. I have no reason to doubt him and every reason to doubt the RCMP given their handling of this file.
Paul is one of the people I looked to early on for reliable, on the ground reporting on this matter.
Enjoy the episode, and if you do, buy the book.
Below are the official liner notes for the episode.
There are many lingering questions about the two-day killing spree by Gabriel Wortman that killed 22 people in 2020 in Nova Scotia, even after a joint federal/provincial commission wrapped up its inquiry. Investigative journalist Paul Palango joins Brian to discuss why he thinks all signs point to RCMP covering up that Wortman was working undercover for them before his rampage, as he exposes in his new book, Anatomy of a Cover-Up. He explains that it’s why police did nothing about reports that Wortman had illegal guns, and why the story of Wortman’s eventual killing by cop, and the account of his girlfriend, don’t line up with the evidence. If he’s right, then Canadians have been fed a lot of lies by officials — and we finally deserve the truth. (Recorded June 12, 2025)
