My concern and I believe, the CPC’s main concern re the MOU for a “pathway” to a pipeline to the NW BC coast, is that the Liberal gov’t is still choosing winners and losers rather than project proponents who deserve a reliable and consistent system of gov’t review to determine acceptability for any major project. Instead, the decision is pure politics and misguided ideology over science! It didn’t used to be that way, and it shouldn’t be today. Carney doling out select approvals for projects based on his personal ideology is fundamentally wrong! And like a king issuing Earldoms or the like to those who genuflect and meet HIS wishes, he ignores the rights of Canadians to expect Science and sound practice to rule over HIS views!
There is also the fact that Brookfield Asset Management is very much invested in energy infrastructure, including pipelines, in other countries. If this comes to pass, chances are that Canada and Alberta may win, but BAM will probably win bigger.

Firstly, concerning the potential deal between Ottawa and Alberta, I say full speed ahead. Let us not not forget there are a substantial amount of "progressive" Liberals and their MSM mouthpieces (step forward Toronto Star) who want this deal to fail and will do their underhanded best to sabotage it. I didn't vote for Mr Carney, but he is a damn sight better than his predecessor and Canada needs this deal to be a success. So I would advise the CPC to state publicly that in principle they understand the need for the pipeline, and they applaud any effort by the government to do something the CPC has spent the last decade saying needs to be done. Saying that, I would qualify my support by indicating that the CPC expects that PM Carney to commit to ensuring this is first and foremost the main priority for his government, and not just window dressing. Concerning immigration, of course you are right on Brian. The NDP have become irrelevant, so who cares? Mr lewis can become Canada's version of Mr Mamdani and continue to make a fool of himself.

And that pipeline is almost full, Paul. Remember that any suggested pipeline is realistically, perhaps, seven or eight years until completion so "almost full" now means a lot of restrictions on that pipeline by the time a new pipeline is actually commissioned.
A real problem is that any pipeline as contemplated for export to Asian markets would require far larger tankers than could now be accommodated at the Burnaby shipping terminal. Of course, that terminal could - theoretically - be expanded but the shipping channels are much too shallow for the required tankers.
You could argue that the channels could be dredged but the resulting opposition from the usual suspects over, oh, additional shipping in an already congested area, environment, yada, yada, yada [all the things that can be adequately protected .... but, that is never a guarantee against the opposition of those folks], etc. would make such a project highly dubious.
My point is that, yes, there are some tanker loads going to Asia from Burnaby but of limited tanker size and limited sailings. Therefore
