I find it hard to believe that Liberal Canadians buy what Carney is selling. China is a Communist, autocratic, evil and ruthless regime - no-one ever knows what they will do next. America is a Constitutional Republic with the rule of law firmly in place. America is not, nor ever was, the enemy of Canada. That’s the lie Carney is selling.
Liberal Canadians, the perpetually offended crowd, just wants to stick it to Trump. Not smart but then again, liberals are not the smart set, they just think they are.
The word ‘dumb’ is redundant when used to describe Liberal voters. Except if the Liberal voters are Chinese or North Korean communist agents. They are smart to vote Liberal or NDP so they can live in Canada without their families in Asia being murdered by their government’s assassins.
Nope, I'm done with the government picking winners and losers. Who pays for it? ME and the rest of Canadians. If Chinese EVs come in at "best price", I'm going to look at them. I will likely not get one unless the 'trackability' is turned off to my liking, not China's. Curiously Tesla does this same 'trackability' and nobody questions that. Canadians have paid (and continue) through the nose with all parts of the supply chain - dairy, cell phone data, bank fees and restrictions, airline fees and lack of service, beef industry, the GD carbon tax horse sh*t that is merely a slush fund for the Fedgov. I may be conflating tariffs and the reasons for the high cost of living in Canada but only slightly. Yesterday the CBC reported $160million subsidy/grants to Domtar in the pulp and paper industry - huh? why? for what purpose or ROI for Canadians? - further Domtar is foreign owned. If Donald 'reshores' the automotive industry to "America first" how can we stop him? There is no negotiating on this front - none - and the Fedgov (ie. Canadians) should not be subsidizing our cars to sell into the US market. We're screwed on that front. Bloomberg reports US dairy prices are dropping for consumers, that and they are projected to come down more with significant investment of new/more dairy manufacturing - when have you ever heard that about Canadian dairy. If the Fedgov enacted 3 things Professor Sylvain Charlebois has pointed out for the Canadian food economy - we all would be better of cost-wise. Brian you are right - too many Canadians are suffering from TDS however now they use it as a crutch for a lot of the current problems in today's Canadian economy but Canadians have been suffering WAY before Trump 2.0 kicked in. We must fix our own house.
If PM Carney and his Liberal government negotiate a trade agreement with the U.S - they would lose their go-to excuse for the poor economic performance in Canada. Not the ten year liberal government - oh no, it’s a U.S one year president’s fault. 😬
While I’d have preferred Canada to have trade relations with the U.S. over China or for that matter even Europe. It doesn’t look like it’s happening and I believe it was planned that way. Trudeaus cabinet was dodgy on trumps admin from the start, there attack dogs the Canadian ass crack muppet media certainly hasn’t helped. 24-7 Trump bashing while polishing the Carney T💩! Add more sprinkles! Can our relationship with the U.S. be rebuilt? Or will Carney sell off the rest of Canada to China and the Globohomos/ WEF?
I think that western Canadian farmers, who export substantially more canola to the US than China, would rather have the deal with the US. Carney is dreaming if he thinks that he can replace the billions of dollars a day we get from the US with a country (or countries) across oceans.
China is not where the future lies. Trump will be gone one day, China won't be. To hitch our wagon to China would be shortsighted and misguided in my opinion.
Carney is nowhere near as clever as he thinks he is. He's a smart man but not a clever politician. China will walk all over him and he will never know any different.
EVs are rolling computers. Cameras pointed everywhere, always scooping up data, transmitting it 24/7. Add in self-driving capability - this is a HUGE security issue. I don't care about "saving" the Ontario automotive industry - I care about security. I drive a Tesla. I don't understand why Ontario/Canada isn't talking with Tesla. If Carney lets Chinese EVs into Canada, it will be the final straw for Trump, we will be toast.
I heard a pundit today describe Trump Derangement Syndrome as being like an addiction.
Those who spew hatred are addicted to the feeling they get by denouncing Trump. Like addiction, the first big high was the best. Each time they rail against Trump, they're trying to get back to that level so they keep ramping up the crazy (ie: upping the dosage).
They'll need to hit rock bottom before they can recover from this. And nothing we can do or say will make much difference.
Trump’s claim that the U.S. doesn’t need Canadian cars ignores the logistics we consistently see in parliamentary committee transcripts. Witnesses at the House Industry Committee have testified that a single automotive part can cross the border up to seven times before a vehicle is finished. If Washington actually cut off Canadian access it would likely halt the very Michigan plants Trump was touring. The supply chains are too integrated to separate without causing a massive shock to American production.
I just was part of a discussion today where a guy thought Canada should drop the tariffs on Chinese EVs because he thought EVs were the way of the future and were much more technologically advanced than anyone one else. Personally I don’t think there’s enough electricity around or infrastructure to support it in North America. His answer was that if we keep buying them then the infrastructure will follow. That being said China is known for unfair trading practices and these EVs just reek of it. I mean, why play cards with a known cheat?
Canadians do not seem to realize that Canada only has the population of a US state. They do NOT see us on their radar. The government is only using their Chinese style propaganda machine, subsidized Canadian MSMs, to hold a grip on power so they can keep their net Zero crap going. Meanwhile Canada and Canadians become poorer and poorer. They will not be happy until we are referred to, by the US, as the third world communist state on our Northern border. These disgusting traitors should be ran out of Canada. Carney does not even live here. He is a European first, Canadian second or even third. Just disgusting imho.

Some Canadians love and lived to hate Americans it's not rational or reasonable.

BANG on !!!

Well said, Sir.
Every one of those ChiComm EVs will be a rolling spy installation.

You will own nothing, and you will be happy.
So if Trump says that he needs “nothing” from Canada, what would that trade deal look like?

Canada is screwed. Enjoy your Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I think Carney is cosplaying the tough negotiator for Canadians and some Canadians are eating it up. Elbows Up eh?
Carney is nowhere near as clever as he thinks he is. He's a smart man but not a clever politician. China will walk all over him and he will never know any different.
He doesn’t even care as long as he gets rich!

And there goes Carney negotiating with China as its biggest and only trading partner is doing everything to punish China .
The are either beyond Incompetent or are doing everything on Purpose to Self Destruct Canada . I would say Both !!
Both.

I think you have the parties reversed - all of the hate is spewing from the White House.
Clearly you've not yet hit rock bottom. Good luck and I hope you recover soon.
I don’t need or want any concern from you.
Wrong- we are absolutely irrelevant to the Americans.

My sister owns a tuk tuk business and she bought Chinese EV tuk tuks. They didn’t even come with brakes. No thanks!
Bizarrely, too many Canadians see China as a better trading partner than Canada.”
Did you mean America?
