GM have been inexorably pulling out of Canada for at least 25 years. The past ten years the Canadian federal government has not concentrated on industrialization or technology.

Instead we have had ideology and overreach. Inflation. Debt. Anger. Division. Deception. Propaganda

Trump is looking after the USA.

Carney is looking after his ideology . Like Trudeau. Canada is just a Machiavellian reality for these politicians.

Canada has become a herd of sheep. massively over immigrated.

Agreed. Trump promoted Karney knowing he'd be weak. There is no contest in leadership styles. He even had Jewish families who lost loved ones on October 7 in the Oval Office when Karney was there. It wasn't about trade or tariffs at all. It was about humiliation.

Very investing information. But, how can one know this is factual? I hope it is.

You're right about that old curse, "May you live in interesting times".

And these times have become far too interesting. A short ten years ago, who would ever have thought to say that about Canada?

Every so often, I step back and review my posts on various topics ... a self check, to make sure I'm not over reacting to the politics of the day. (I can be a little too intense at times)

But i'm not over reacting. There are a frightening number of literally existential things to write (rant) about, and they appear to be snowballing.

As I age - this Friday will mark my 81st year on the planet - one would think that you gain a little more peace and acceptance of the things you cannot change. (Or, put another way, start the process of leaving the world behind, and prepare for the upcoming and inevitable loosening of my mortal coil.)

But that's not the case. There are too many horrible things happening at the same time - most of them in this country that I love - and I simply cannot avert my eyes or my mouth closed.

I still have something to say.

Speaking of “the mysterious backstory surrounding the CIB’s $1-billion loan to BC Ferries — a deal to purchase four vessels from a Chinese shipbuilder” - where is the Hon. MP Chrystia Freeland these days?!Last reports were she was sent to aid in the rebuilding of Ukraine, odd since it’s still at war. 🤔

I, too, wish things weren't quite so interesting but, to quote Gandalf the Gray, "... and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Typically off base on the use of the justice system. Clearly TDS clouds judgment. The Dems weaponized it. Using it for accountability for criminals who weaponized it is justice.

That’s true. The latest wiretapping of sitting us senators is scary.

Why?

Because in Canada the RCMP have more sweeping powers than anywhere else in the “free world” to surveil citizens.

“Weaponized lawfare”.

Try the Lich Barber injustice. How can the judge ruling on the mischief charges refer to the emergency powers enacted at the time without recognizing that the Supreme Court ruled that the emergency powers enacted were illegal ?

C2/C8 in its current form is totalitarian

Show me a way out, short of death.

Canada has not been a fair trader for decades. China is the worst. But Canada has been weaseling along, protecting Eastern interests against the West and against the US, which protects us.

Trump has the right to do what he wants with his economy. It isn’t an economic WAR. He wants to eliminate taxes for the average family and he wants to bring back manufacturing. Don’t fault him for that. We should be doing the same.

And Canada has belittled Trump and the US for a long time. The latter for decades. So, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Sadly, most people I talk to want to retire outside of this naturally beautiful country.

That leaves the Pronouns and the Liberal Replacement Population. The Liberals can grift until the cupboards are bare.

Here you go and blame Trump for our miseries....why dont you blame Carney? He has fail miserably...or is doing it on pupose for his benefit. Stop blaming Trump...he is not the problem...it is Carney and the Liberals...and their voters for the mess we are in!

It's become a trade war because when trump put down his first "card", canada chose retaliation, instead of negotiation. Canadians still talk in terms of war...when will they decide to negotiate a deal that works for both canada and usa? And why do canadians not wish they had leaders who wanted to make canada great again? Why is that term referred to so snidely by canadians? Very foolish in my book. I remember when canada WAS a great country. Not anymore why doesn't every country think: let's be great again!!..and it's very true....your seniors want to retire elsewhere and your young people are leaving in droves to create better lives....who will be left to feed that gaping maw of govt greed?

It’s so funny when Canadian leaders like Doug “Jingo” Fraud talk of trade “war” and blame President Trump. They know as much about war as a jobless teen playing Grand Theft Auto in his mom’s basement.

US Tariffs are all about protecting American jobs from unfair competition. Especially the deliberately weak Canadian dollar and subsidies of manufacturing etc. If Canada wasn’t so overregulated by autocratsand overtaxed it would attract investment to become more efficient instread of driving investment to the US.

The auto manufacturing sector in Canada could be done if Trump has his way. Short term, very bad news. Long term, the end of tax-payer funded corporate welfare for the auto sector is a positive and cheap Chinese autos would benefit Canadian consumers. Its worth a debate.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer projected that capping the beer tax indexation at 2% for two years would cost the federal government \$119 million in foregone revenue. This trade-off between predictable revenue and industry relief is clear.

Peace in the Middle East.

Both sides don't have a great track record in the peace department, but fingers crossed.

Now, if Trump will stop arming Ukraine (it is no longer Biden's war, with endless weapons support, it is Trump's war), we will have peace there, too.

Trump has done little to end Ukraine conflict.

Yes, he has sat down with Putin yet he continues to arm Zelensky. Ukraine (as with Israel) is nothing without the US.

So, stop military support. This is not rocket scientist stuff. End support, end the war.

And as Trump has noted, Ukraine is a US proxy war with Russia.

It is now Trump's war.

I have always said the Trump wants peace. He has commented in the past, "why are we fighting all the time?"

This is why: as Putin has noted, "every President comes in with great intention, then the men in dark suits and briefcases show up".

This is Trump's war. Trump CAN end it.

Trump has to shut the door to the men in darks suits.
