It isn't too big. Wild fires where nobody lives should be left to burn with no intervention. However in places like Jasper we purposely stop trees from burning which is their lifecycle. Then they get old diseased and out of control fires start that threaten communities. Communities, parks and resorts don't want to lose their lovely trees so they just let them get that way. Fires threatening communities are specifically because we don't manage forest properly and like the pretty trees. If we let the trees burn naturally some parks might lose all their trees until the new ones grow bigger. They don't want that. It's human caused, not climate causes.
No one is disputing controlled burns. I was responding to the dummy above who suggested clear cutting strips across ALL of Canadian forests to prevent fires from spreading, which is a complete impossibility.

First Nations used to do prescribed burns for centuries because they knew that was how to manage forests if you are going to live in them. Fires are natural not climate change. Nature doesn't account for us living in permanent settlements in the forest.
I am from northern Ontario. The forest is so massive they cannot do anything. That being said, NW Ontario has always been resentful of the centre of the universe. They send their cheap hydro electric energy to southern Ontario and get charged a fortune for their electricity. It has always been a problem. Every year there is a movement for NW Ontario to join Manitoba as they have much more in common.
