Defund the CBC. A complete restructuring will not happen under this current government. I can come up with better ways to spend all that money, as I'm sure a lot of other people can too.
I think the move is not to defund the CBC per se, but place their funding in a cultural and news funding pool that is distributed by some kind of polling mechanism of citizens. Maybe even a game show where people present Canadian media projects for funding. One option could be to pay down the deficit instead. The CBC probably won't have much success in competing
I think a fair portion of swing voters have positive feelings towards it. The Liberals also seem to find it useful as a wedge issue to energize progressives who might prefer to vote NDP
Shifting their funding to a citizen controlled pool defeats the political usefulness that the Liberals can wring out of it and may be seen pretty positively by centrist voters
Should the PMO not be charged with interference of democratic reporting, promoting lies in the media, and interference in the election process because of the misinformation provided to the public. They should not go unscathed in this.
The CBC is self-serving and abusive. I was quite disgusted that the "public broadcaster" seemed unable to cover the important work of the citizen's initiative, "The National Citizen's Inquiry." This group held hearings in 8 Canadian cities, focusing on what happened to people as a result of the government Covid policies. Since the government itself could not be bothered to evaluate the impact of their Covid policies, the NCI research is a vital resource. Most people I know are not aware of it, and I guess that was the intention of the CBC and the government,s but it is a shocking disservice to the Canadian public. I completely gave up on watching or accessing the CBC after this neglectful and politically driven decision to ignore the NCI. Just outrageous in my view.
If the Commie Broadcast Corporation covered the NCI, it would have to report the TRUTH about the Plandemic, its failed policies which were not based on science and the irreparable harm it caused the whole country. This cannot be allowed to happen as the Marxists in Ottawa just agreed to the WHO and it's new Plandemic Treaty. So when the next fake crisis happens, be it viral or climate or both, all the sheeple will gladly mask up, lockdown and rat out their neighbours just like 5 years ago.

My sunday school teacher would be appalled that parts of the bible is deemed as hate speech. Sunday school n the 50s was love and fun with games and treats. I have not read any of the koran, but the way they yell and scream in front of the American consulate, there must be some hate speech in it, too. I like your comments about the judiciary. This issue or issues can only be resolved by a complete flush out and a whole reconstruction of well-qualified journalists who have the same talent, vision and drive that this man has. I have not trusted the news from CBC for at least the past 20 years, and I was once a journalist, albeit not in the field of politics, and have seen & heard and lamented the deterioration year after year.
Funny. I read about these issues in Toronto and it feels like a distant foreign country. Hopefully Alberta is successful with this referendum and we actually make it so. Cannot wait to just not be associated with or having to fund these problems in the near future.

We have family that watch CBC and CTV. As a result we try to keep away from political conversations when we get together. They also think the Toronto Sun is "a rag". I subscribe to the Sun so I take great exception to that.😡
