I like to tease Kris Sims, the Alberta Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation that she was my intern decades ago. That’s not quite true, but I still like to tease her.
The truth is, Sims came to Ottawa to work for a Canadian Alliance MP - remember them? She wanted to try out media and someone set me up to take her out for a ride along - kinda like the police but this time with the media.
We hit it off, we worked together at 580 CFRA in Ottawa and then when Sun News Network launched I helped recruit her - I helped recruit a lot of people.
Anyway, she’s moved from Ottawa to Nova Scotia, to British Columbia, to Alberta and now resides in Lethbridge. Not that you were looking for her address, but the girl knows the whole country and is doing great work for the CTF.
We saw each other in Calgary recently and it was wonderful. She said she was filling in for Candace Malcolm at Juno News and asked if I would join. The answer was an obvious yes - big hint for Candace I will join you too if you ask.
Anyway, we chatted about Carney sidelining pipelines and Doug Ford telling young workers who can’t find work to look harder.
