I really don’t understand what the hullabaloo about HSR is all about.

The Government that can’t build a pipeline, can’t acknowledge the business case for LNG exports, can’t plant a bunch of trees, buy a few airplanes or implement a computer pay system should have zero snags with building a HSR system on budget and on time.

“Canada is Back!!”

Our HSR will principally be used by Laurentian Mafia members: MPs, MPPs, consultants and "recognized" journalists. They'll expense their tickets and crown over the experience. Some may quietly wonder why they stopped in Peterborough. The elected will store HSR-comparo stories to share at their next UN/G7 junket.

The rest of us will look at our ballooning interest payments and wonder whose dumb idea this was.

Carney has no idea how to run our economy !!!!!!.the people he has chosen to do it have no idea what they are doing. So no wonder we have horrible ratings in all markets . No one is doing anything correctly

The bullet train to nowhere outside of PQ and ONT is a massive waste of money that the Country does not have.

Thanks as always for the legwork on government grift Brian. I have to give Carney credit for one thing, he is consistent with his promises. He makes these grand announcements (when they serve his purpose, as this one does, to keep his base happy) then promptly moves on to the next lie, er promise. When will Canadians realize they are in an endless psyop loop?

Carney has not explained the benefit of HSR. How will this help the economy? How will he balance such an enormous expenditure with some equal nation building project in the West. I believe the project is ego building for Liberals, rather than nation building.

It's more than an oversight that Private Property Rights were excluded from Canada's Constitution and Charter of Rights. To this point I have yet to see a any reference to a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis to support the ALTO project. Simple comparisons to European HSR; or past nation building projects such as the CPR and St. Lawrence Seaway are typically ill informed and designed only to promote a fanciful project that will benefit few Canadians (think Laurentian Elites) at the expense of us all. The Frankie Bubbles conflict only scratches the surface (think Brookfield's massive investments that are sure to be involved).

Apart from “the Liberal economic buddy system”, apart from massive continuously soaring unaccountable deficit , do any Liberal politicians have ANY economic acumen…at all!! Self serving magicians at deceit .

Have a good time down in "enemy" territory! And of course Franky Bubbles is in the middle of a conflict. It would only be news if there wasn't some Liberal at the tough. There was an angry TDS infected guest on PBS last night by the name of Rachel VanLandingham. Normally they are pretty good about providing an alternate view but they let her bloviate for a few minutes about how T's comments about next steps(not the steps-the comments) in Iran were war crimes and did not present an alternate view. Her frothing at the mouth did not strengthen her case.

I heard California has a kilometer or so of high speed rail track for sale cheap. Karney should talk to Newscum.

lol. Some good posts here. I’ll be dead and won’t be around to see this ALTO project fail.

What a mess.

Think about it. California, which historically leads North America with enterprise and iniatives is failing. Silicone valley diminished.

Their high speed rail project a failure, after a decade and similar billions of dollars wasted. No railroad. No train.

As for Canada it will get worse before it gets better. Our political system is a liberal fraud.

Have a nice vacation Mr Lilley. You earned it.

If only Premier Ford had better advice. He could have asked you.

I doubt anyone plans to actually build HSR, or a 401 tunnel, or the Grey's Bay Road. These announcements are tactics to stir up patriotism among the masses, create new bureaucracies and shovel a bunch of money into favourite consultants.

Speaking of which, how on earth did it take until Christmas for the HSR group to announce that they were looking at a second Ottawa-Montreal route. You'd think a $4B planning budget would allow for some parallel processing.

And The Laurentans wonder why Alberta wants out!! This BS has been going on for over 100yrs. I am familiar with Canadian history, and I am not convinced that this Country works any more, for the West!!
