I am not sure how old you were so it is entirely possible you do not remember when Canada did not have a homeless population and that would be most of the history of this nation.

Yes WTF happened, besides Trudeau.

Another major policy issue facing the Carney Liberals is that his personal obsession with Net Zero and Climate Change is rapidly becoming off side with the Trump US government as well as political thought leaders like Bill Gates. It is also off side with China, India, Russia and their allies. There is no possibility of trade deals with these global partners unless we have pipes and ports able to move our nations national resources. Carney must be desperate for a majority so he can continue to advance the interests of the net zero crowd before Canadians understand Net Zero is dead.

China is not and has never been a “partner”. Gimme a break. They are gangsters, spies and thieves.

Good reporting, thanks for finding out the story behind the story.

Since MPs can vote remotely nowadays, the "parliamentary flu" trick doesn't give the Conservatives enough plausible deniability.

Linda Keays's avatar

Yeah. I don’t believe for a second, that the Pierre Poilievre Conservative Party will vote with the Libs. This is a new, rejuvenated Conservative Party.

Do you think Carney could prorogue?

Peter Floyd's avatar

If you mean once a nonconfidence vote is held then no. The federal government cannot use prorogation to override or avoid the result of a confidence(non-confidence) vote once it has actually been held.

If the House of Commons has already voted no confidence, the government loses its authority to govern.

PK's avatar

That is good. I intended could he prorogue in advance of presenting a budget.

AS THE PRIME MINISTER HE HAS THE POWER TO SHUT DOWN PARLIAMENT AND RISK A MASSIVE TAXPAYER REVOLT (THAT MAY ALREADY BE IN THE CARDS). SO HE MUST BE CAREFUL WITH HIS NEXT STEPS TO MANAGE THE EXTREMELY ANGRY HIVES OF BLACK AND WHITE HORNETS HIS GOVERNMENT HAS CREATED. HIS BEST BET IMHO IS TO RESIGN AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND RIDE HIS HIGH HORSE OUT OF DODGE.

You make about as much sense as a Russian disinformation bot.

NET ZERO IS DEAD and so will Carnage be. I see very little hope for him to change

Instead of growing the economy Liberals grow the government and the debt.

More like a non-story about a non-story.

Maybe, just maybe, they shouldn’t keep voting the Liberals in. We had a very stable govt under Harper and we can get it back under Pierre Poilievre. Give him a chance. But, wait, with all the immigrants and minorities claims, lawsuits, drugs and crazy boomers nothing will happen. Carney wants an election; he only needs two seats for a majority! If he gets it, all bets are off and this country as we know it will cease to exist!

Boomer here. Female. Also a political geek for over four decades. Tried to talk politics with different ladies over the years. Dumb as sticks. ALL socialists or non voters. I am sooooo embarrassed by my gender. (Though not doing surgery. Lol) ps. I was a runway model for a while. So no one would guess my geek status. Great cover!
