True, the court confirmed that Aboriginal title cannot overturn private property ownership, meaning 1st Nations must seek financial or land-based compensation strictly from the Crown instead of private landowners. But where does that $$$ come from?!? It comes from us.

In other words, the government messed up and the taxpayers are going to have to pay for it πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•πŸ–•

Wouldn't it be nice if governments actually did something right instead of fking things up so badly that the costs increase exponentially for taxpayers? But because the funds don't come directly out of their pockets, money isn't an issue; they'll just tax us more. The pockets according to them are never empty!!

Prime Minister Carney is a terrible decision-maker.

Someone with his reputation is typically decisive, concise, and has thought out a plan completely.

Mr. Carney says one thing to one group, another thing to another group, and then a 180 degree flip when speaking to a third group.

He is the most disingenuous β€œleader” I have ever witnessed. It is like he makes decisions by tossing coins.

I have only said two positive things about Justin Trudeau: firstly, he is a superb retail politician, and a capable campaigner.

Secondly, I truly believe he is genuine when he espouses something entirely stupid, something demonstrably incorrect, or something wickedly impertinent.

I have not one word of complimentary comment I can share about Mark Carney.

Mark Carney is very dangerous for Canada because he has no vested interest & is now in the position of implementing horrible policies dictated by the WEF & THE UN. Why Canada is even a member of those corrupt organizations is anyone's guess other than they will dictate what Canada is and isn't allowed to do & Carney will wash his hands of every bad policy implemented b'cuz he was "just following orders" from these same entities. He THINKS he's smart but from what I've read, especially from the U.K. he's a terrible banker & economist. He's a phony.

β€œI said in my column yesterday, we spend far too much time fighting with the Americans, poking them in the eye, rather than trying to seek a mutually beneficial deal.”

Totally agree!

Amen! Besides, who wants to be ruled by Brussels? Carney wants us to become part of the EU!! What a ridiculous notion when we have the biggest partner that we share a border with. Trump isn't going to be in office forever & I really don't understand Carney's position on negotiating with the U.S. He's obviously lied to us about how he can "control" Trump. That is so laughable!!

Excellent presentation and answers by David McKenzie. Can you imagine any of the clowns in the Carney cabinet or Carney himself coming up to this level?

Brian, you write, "What this means for the Cowichan case in B.C. or the Kitigan Zibi Anishinābeg isn’t known."

Not nearly enough people understand yet that our federal government is deadly serious about undermining our right to be left alone, unmonitored, in our privately owned space.

The Indigenous claims are simply a tool to advance the cause. If the government cared about the Indigenous peoples, it would be doing many things differently. In Europe, other tools are used.

Perhaps a critical mass of Canadians is past waking up. We shall see.

At least it is nice to see Pierre Poilievre noticing the Cowichan problem.

They are purposefully creating chaos when it comes to home ownership & land rights. That is what socialists do so they can take over.

Denyse I O'Leary's avatar

It may not be official socialism. Maybe it is just a sense that if they had total surveillance and we had no property rights, Canada would soon be whatever utopia they wanted it to be.

Denyse I O'Leary's avatar

What I like to ask is, if this is not their intent, what would they be doing differently?

A little good news on the Supreme Court's response to the Wolastoqey Nation!

Eby and his Cowichan buddies aren't gonna like this decision.

Yup Liberal LaLaLand of rainbows and pixy dust. Mark J Carney turned Canadian Democracy into a CARNIVAL 3 Ring Circus style.

Danielle Smith said this from the start. And she was vilified once again for getting to the solution to the problem before the rest were emotionally ready.

Yep, PM Carney should hurry up and secure that deal for 10% tariffs on everything that Canada sells to the US. That will be great for everyone.

Serious question: suppose if the 14 now-anonymous liberal dissidents all resign from caucus. Perhaps unlikely but bear with me. Would Carney be able to advantageously play that schism to the electorate as a reason to call a new election and thereby purge all the Trudeau holdovers? My understanding is that Canadians have historically been hostile to so-called greedy elections, like the one Trudeau pulled. But, in Japan, when faced with a nationalist wave caused by China, their β€œnatural governing party” the LDP (which btw also has internal factions) was able to call and win an early election bigly.
