NordVPN has said that they will not be able to offer service in Canada if this bill passes. VPNs would be a covered service and would have to modify their no logs policy to comply. They have said they will exit Canada rather than doing this.
BITD when Alexa first came out it was not available in Canada so I had a USA address. Fast forward and if I register a VPN in say Lewiston NY and access it with Starlink what’s the issue with that ?
That may work as long as your VPN provider does not BLOCK all connection attempts from Canada. Probably depends on how the regulations are written and how risk averse your VPN provider is. Canada is a small country. Some VPN providers may think it is not worth the effort to deal with Canada BS.
Any kind of technological backdoor is a security vulnerability. If the Liberals do manage to push this through, many tech platforms will pull out of Canada rather than deal with the wave of hacks, frauds and exploits.
Use cash, a landline and dump the internet connection. What does this government do then? I remember well how peaceful life was before internet and am willing to do it again.

When and IF government shows accountability for EVERYTHING they do, then my views may change. And they owe each and every Canadian the same respect that they EXPECT to be given. There really is no news anymore, thankfully there are honest independent outlets who faithfully keep us informed , but with this bill passing who knows for how long they will be free to operate, they will find something to criticize them for like being racist or something 🤔.

Behaviour of the past decade of Liberal governments has not been open and transparent. The Trudeau era hosted countless breaches of ethics performed by many in positions of authority. Carney has not shown that he will be less tolerant of playing games designed to minimize conflict when steam rolling his agenda through. Cabinet Ministers are basically the same recycled crew of individuals who failed to protect Canada’s resource ownership, to account for “Covid spending excesses”, to enact legislation against foreign interference or to control immigration. Carney has strutted onto the scene complete with stetson hat and bowed legs, saying “trust me, I am not the former guy”. That trust has not been earned. His tolerance for national debt is double that of JT, his finding a loophole which allows him to spend pension funds breaks a sacred trust with the public, his European-centric vision of where his kingdom resides is not seen through Canadian eyes which really would prefer to see him in the House of Commons earning his keep and answering questions.
