Well even from here in Ontario I can see that talk is cheap and although I know Canada is cooked without Alberta blocking their freedom to have their say isn’t winning anyone over. MOU ‘s are more of that cheap talk and until Carney puts up ie removes the actual anti- development laws he may as well shut up because I seriously doubt anyone is buying what he’s selling ESPECIALLY Albertan’s and any potential investors!!

I am so sick of Carney!

Imagine the poor folks in the UK who had him for ten years and the UK just announced the bond market crashed. Guess we should feel lucky he isn’t the banker anymore just the tyrant destroying Canada. But hey don’t see Canadians do anything but whine and complain. There is only one thing politicians worry about is what their voters think , not that we know who really voted for him in our corruptelections, but a guy so vain and full of himself will consider back talk as bad as a dagger

Allan Matthews's avatar

From your point of view, all those who voted for Carney are either stupid and/or corrupt, and those who voted against him are wise and forward thinking. Precious. 🙄

Claudette Leece's avatar

Do you know how many people never even look into one policy, some have no idea what the candidates history is. What pigpen they roll around in or with who. Some ask me who should I vote for. And ask them the history of the person they are giving their future and their kids. Unless something affects them personally , there is no shortage of ignorant voters. They totally believe anything the msm tells them, they dont even dispute one thing. And in Canada the majority have no idea what their big brother has done over the years. So I should have said many, not all but you get the drift. If most Canadians have no clue the corruption and evil is dancing around with the British government.

Boy if I was to write a script that detailed how to increase support for Alberta separation top of the list would be to have a liberal appointed eastern judge tell the Albertan's they can't have a democratic vote. As far as this indian thing goes, enough already. We have patted them on the head so long they believe they run the place.

Abner Gunderson's avatar

As long as the Liberals are in power…

Claudette Leece's avatar

You can get a Liberal AB judge, we see it all the time when they refuse to jail rapists, murderers, can’t have them deported now, might need them to kill someone else and sorry the majority of them are bleeding heart women

Very hard to dial back but I hope you are right

Why can't we have a proper conservative instead of Doug Ford? One that believes in values and in common sense, and not bending to the woke bs? Is it too much to ask?

Penny Leifson's avatar

And Dougie’s backer/right hand guy, Kory Teneycke, is now pushing Caroline Elliott as the B.C. Conservative Party Leader. I’m afraid she’s likely to be Doug Ford in a dress with him as backer.

There is nothing more democratic than a referendum & the judge is just plain stupid if he doesn't understand that. Besides, even IF this holds, Thomas Lucuszk (sp) also had a petition for people to sign which states that Albertans want to remain in Canada. If that one is approved, it doesn't matter if the other one cannot go because Lukaszuk has made a referendum a sure thing and people will STILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE YES OR NO. ALL ALBERTANS MUST HAVE A SAY & WILL GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO. Why the East is so riled up about this is laughable & kind of sad really. They're scared they're going to lose their golden goose!!

As someone who thinks that Alberta should not leave Canada, I very much want a referendum.

Here's the problem if you don't have one: Anyone within earshot of a mike can blather all he wants about why Alberta should separate. Talk is cheap and opinions are free. Enough of that and everyone thinks Alberta wants to separate.

But now let's have a vote. We will make sure that all interested parties are free to present their views beforehand and all interested campaigns witness the count in real time.

Then we shut off the mikes. We have a ballot, yes/no to an agreed question. No opinions. If you are a citizen of Canada and a legal resident of Alberta, mark your ballot, put it in the box, go home and wait.

I suspect separation would get 20% of the vote - if it was all consequences and no grandstanding. Even if separation got 40%, that is NOT a majority.

If my assessment is reasonable, judicial activism to prevent a vote is harmful because it creates the impression that far more Albertans want to separate than really do.

Abner Gunderson's avatar

Judicial activism is harmful because it proactively prevents the elected government from performing its function in creating, passing and executing laws and the will of electorate and citizenry. It is a tool of authoritarianism.

Denyse I O'Leary's avatar

Judicial activism is that. But, in this case, it is more than that. It is using the figleaf of Indigenous rights to prevent a needed confrontation. No longer need separatists articulate a viable plan for a post-Canada Alberta. They need only claim (truly) that they were prevented from calling a vote by judge-made law. That can only advance the separatist cause.

Alberta's place in Canada will be decided by Albertans. Carney may have been born in the NWT and raised in Alberta, he is 100% pompous, out of touch, condescending Laurentian elite. As far as I'm concerned, his opinion on Alberta is worth as much as a rusted out old toaster. I don't yet know where I stand on Alberta's status within Canada but I sure as hell don't need or want Carney's opinion on the matter.

Carneys never clear about anything. When you’re obsessed with power and money, everything you see is cloudy. While he barks about foreign Interferance, it’s funny he failed to mention Israel $300,000 donation. Wonder how much Warren Kinsella got?

Oh yeah, hurry up and secure that awesome trade deal where Canada gets hit with 10% tariffs on everything it sells to the US.

The podcast interview with Keith Wilson was stellar Canadian journalism.

I definitely recommend the folks interested in clear, concise answers listen to this fine piece of work.

Komrade Karney and Dani Smith have their carbon deal done and a pipe deal to the Pacific. Alberta will stay now . No worries.

Oh...forgot about WannEby and his Injun Chiefs. Now they want out of Kanadastan. Lol

Angela's avatar

Carney is a con man & the MOU he made with Smith is laughably vague. She bought into his pathetic statements that we'll get an oil pipeline & then the very next day told everyone that it was contingent on B.C.'s approval and the First Nations. Smith was basically lied to. After everything she's done, this will likely be the breaking point for separatists. of which I am one.

KZwick's avatar

I started my separation by not doing their census. Already had a text from them. Don't know how they cross referenced to get my phone number. Weird. Lol
