So true both of you… our country has been run by “deconstructionists “this past 17 years, they just don’t care, I cannot fathom that Carney doesn’t have the brains to see this mess, or he really doesn’t care because woke trumps reason.
I think these folks are so ideologically captured that it just consumes and overwhelms any sense critical thinking, unbiased analysis, or prudent reconsideration.
The people I know who can see through this liberal corruption went to private Christian schools, I wonder if the public school system stopped teaching critical thinking skills 60-70 years ago already 🤔I just cannot come up with another reason!
I predict homelessness becomes a greater national crisis under this government’s policies. This government only makes grand statements like this to make it appear he cares about Canadians while the policies themselves tell a completely different story
Canada Strong": as Carney hands us over to the elite globalists at the WEF and UN
"Build Canada Strong" yet, he's built nothing
"Elbows Up": yup, right, giving Canadians a black eye
"Spending less to invest more": but has had the largest defecit yet and invests in foreign countries with our tax payer money, forgetting our housing problems drug issues, homelessness, veterans and seniors
"Negativity won't win a trade war": as he decides to alienate our neighbours and side with communist China
"The world is becoming more dangerous and divided." as he continues to pit Canada against the USA and align with the elite globalists in Europe.
Brian you may not have been spot on when it came to the recent American mid-term election results, but describing Mark Carney's approach -- you are spot on.
For sure Mark Carney uses slogans, and for sure, he will deny it, and even criticize Pierre Poilievre. the reality is Mark Carney has assumed many of the policies initially introduced by Pierre Poilievre, and yes Pierre likes slogan, so why not use them as well.
As for his many references to the world being divided and dangerous, this appears to be an effective ploy to instill fear, allowing him to assure Canadians he can give them the security they need. It worked for Trudeau during COVID, so why not again.
Mark Carney is a manipulator. He is a true Machiavellian character, saying and doing whatever is needed to forward his own self-promotion. He certainly has Ursula van der Leyen wrapped around his little finger. Worked for her. and definitely is working with the Canadian electorate. My concern what is he may be putting himself front and center, but what is he actually accomplishing for Canadians?
Mark Carney for the first 17 months of being Canada's Prime Minister doted on Donald Trump, and then the middle of August, 2026 arrived, and he changed course. Now for some reason Mark Carney has been able to manipulate the Canadian public to believe he has been operating with elbows up the whole time. Yet, we all remember him twice being in the Oval Office tripping over himself with compliments to Donald Trump, and then Carney did likewise at the2025 G7 and at the recent 2026 G7 he jumped up giving Donald Trump his chair because Donald complained his was too low. Embarrassing.
As for his spending of taxpayer debt, is that him wanting to play in the big leagues, but at the expense of the Canadian taxpayers? Somehow he even managed to make the taxpayers' government pension plans part of his government's "investment" cache. How did this happen?
A little less than two years ago Mark Carney's personal friend, Chrystia Freeland, resigned from the Trudeau government because she felt a budget with a $40 billion deficit was unconscionable. Yet, in her recent book she praises Mark Carney, the same Prime Minister who yesterday tabled a budget with a budget deficit which is at least 50% higher than in 2024. Does anyone have any scruples or accountability to the Canadian electorate?
Last, but not least. Mark Carney is an elitist. This is an elitist's budget. Elitists like to present themselves as caring about the downtrodden, and unfortunate folks in our midst. The Liberal government has been great at giving handouts, but not solutions. The recent budget increased by 50% their Canada Groceries & Essentials Benefits and the Canada Workers Benefit for low income Canadians. No programs to assist these lower income Canadians to increase their earning power--only handouts. Then the same government boasts that they earned over an additional $150 billion more than expected due to the rise in cost of oil. That is the monetary gain our government received as a result of the war in the Middle East where thousands upon thousands innocent men, women and children died and thousands of homes were destroyed. How did our government receive this extra $150 billion? Could it be from those Canadians who cannot afford electric vehicles and thus purchase fuel at the pumps where they pay more for their gas?
Just imagine what that windfall from oil would be if, instead of banning pipelines east and west, banning oil refinery construction in Canada, LNG and gasoline port construction on both coasts, actually opening more new mines rather than talking about opening new mines over the past 11 years we actually did it ? Imagine selling our oil and gas and diesel at market price to the entire world - instead of only approving pipelines that went to the US, further bonding us to them. Imagine , instead of selling crude to them at a $ 25 a barrel discount, we sold them refined oil and gas at full price ? How much leverage would we have with Trump just on the amount of diesel we could sell them alone ? It boggles my mind. Instead, the same clown posse that made those disastrous decisions over the past 11 years and defended them vigorously, now want you to believe that they can fix everything - don’t worry about it - it’s just going to cost you an extra $ 60 billion in debt this year , a paltry $ 70 billion next year as well. . Even though the interest on the debt we have now, before you add this new $ 60 billion to it announced yesterday, is close to $ 90 billion a year - more than they pay on healthcare or the military. It absolutely boggles my mind how pathetic the Canadian electorate actually is . They are the most gullible, uninformed, and ignorant population and I am bitterly disappointed in them all. Instead of investing in oil - their government bet - wrongly and they used hundreds of billions of taxpayer money - on EV’s and EV manufacturing in Canada - especially battery plants. How did any of that work out ? Every one of those ventures failed completely and the taxpayers are left to pay the bill. Yet, they vote these same dolts in over and over and over again. Well Canada - come January when those Trump 50% tariffs on autos come into play - let’s see how Elbows Up you feel then. As P.T. Barnum once said - there is a sucker born every minute- and he is right. In Canada we call them Liberal voters.
Elimination of homelessness ten years is pure fantasy on his and governments part. Does this government really think Canadians will believe this? This budget is a game of Craps, and he is gambling with our financial future with our money and none of his.
The good people of London Centre would vote Liberal if a speed bump painted red were to run in the next election.
He was elected in 2015 with the other Trudeau Liberals.
So, MP Fragiskatos is now enthusiastically supporting the very policies he once derided.
Natural resource exploitation? 180 degrees.
Immigration? 180 degrees.
Carbon tax? 180 degrees.
Free trade? Changes daily.
Capital gains exemptions? 180 degrees.
Greener Homes Grant, EV Strategy, 2 Billion Trees Initiative? 180 degrees.
I am tempted to describe Mr. Fragiskatos as a weather vane, changing direction whenever the wind changes, but even a weather vane is attached to something. Mr. Fragiskatos is but a foundationless paper bag blowing aimlessly down what used to be London’s Dundas Street.
Is it really that difficult to imagine that a Country that voted for Justin Trudeau three times in succession, would fall again for the same myths and and be conned by the same ruse?
Imagine a 10 year old who is homeless today. But don't worry, by the time he is twenty according to the Liberals 10 year plan, he will have a home. Hello mental illness, drugs, poverty, crime, and despair while he and everyone waits. I'm not holding my breath.
This budget is a disaster and if I hear “dangerous and divided” one more time I am going to go crazy. I already have to change the channel whenever Carney speaks. Him and his minions are living in their own fantasy world.
The Budget - Marc Lévesque, Former Chief Economist at the Public Sector Pension Investment Board:
"I can't understand for the likes of me how the Liberals can boast about being fiscally prudent and responsible when they chose to spend the entire revenue windfall (the source of which remains a bit obscure), have no plan to balance the budget and will not be reducing the debt-to-GDP ratio at all over the forecast horizon.
It gives the impression that we're back to the Trudeau days with the big spending plans without any regard whatsoever to financing that spending."
The liberals work so hard at accomplishing nothing but spending lots, can you imagine what they could accomplish if they actually had a clue?
Better yet, can you imagine where this country could be if we had turfed the inept liberals after Trudeau's first term? One can always dream, it's better than living in this liberal dumpster fire nightmare! Oh, sorry, I forgot... Affordability is the best it's been in the last ten years! That'll teach me for trusting my eyes and ears.
As Carney points out - “ there is conflict in Europe”. He is most likely referring to the Ukraine, but really, is the Ukraine actually in Europe ? As we see Europe is in the middle of a giant upheaval - in France rioting in the streets has been going on for a month now. Protests that started out over a crowded and underfunded educational system have morphed into protests over government debt, immigration, food and housing prices. Europe itself is a financial basket case - German manufacturing jobs have been decreasing for years now and they are mired in debt mostly due to the failed “ green energy” policies they, along with Spain and Italy adopted a decade ago. Unfortunately they found out that the wind doesn’t blow every day and the sun does not shine every day. Solar and wind power do not produce enough power to sustain the population and industry at the same time and now they have had to reopen mothballed coal fired power plants - which are the worst contributors of carbon and air pollution one can find, to stave off brownouts and blackouts. Yet this is who Carney wants us to crawl into bed with. Well - I will tell you, he is not crawling into bed with them for trade or economic reasons - because in those situations we are very similar. Canada has nothing that Europe needs outside of oil and gas and at present we have no way of getting those commodities over there because the Liberals banned new port construction of oil and LNG terminals on both coasts as well as the pipelines to get the stuff there in the first place over a decade ago. Europe already makes their own steel and they compete with us in trying to to sell it to other nations - especially the USA. They grow their own lumber, their own wheat and grain their own cattle for beef and dairy - the French alone make over 400 different varieties of cheeses. They most certainly do not buy North American gas guzzling autos - they make and export their own and who is their largest customer for all of their products? Why it’s the same as ours - the USA. Whats the difference between us and the EU in dealing with America ? They already have a signed agreement with Trump on tariffs and their tariffs are considerably lower than ours. So - what exactly is the point of us aligning with the EU in the first place when they already have what it is that we are going to try to sell them in order to decrease our reliance on the U.S. in this “dangerous and divided world” ? So we can join the Eurovision Song Contest ? Wow. What an achievement. I note that today according to the New York Times the U.S. created more than 160,000 new jobs in October, and their unemployment rate fell to just over 4%. Their GDP growth for this year is over 3%. Canada and Europe have negative job growth in October …again, the unemployment rate in Canada in October is 6.7% and the GDP growth is yet again a fiat 1% - almost identical to the EU. Putting two failed economies together along with high tax and spend policies that only add to the debt burden without providing any relief to the already burdened taxpayer is not going to make things better, As well, deciding to get into bed with a declining economy simply because you like their agenda on green Energy - no matter how much damage it has done to their economy is simply ridiculous. Yet - the simpletons who vote Liberal are not interested in any of this. Unfortunately by the time they sort any of this out, the damage will have already been done and it is those same uneducated voters who are going to be left holding the bag on that mountain of debt - while Carney quietly slips across the border back to NYC and his portfolio of all American stocks. See ya… those will be his parting words as he boards that private jet with the $ 100,000 catering bill that he will charge back to the Canadian taxpayer - one more parting insult. Keep voting Liberal Toronto.
The Canadians who depend on retirement income, civil service jobs, government-adjacent jobs in health care and teaching, social assistance, or employment with companies that market to government are a very large proportion of our population now.
They do not care about the national debt. Most would not care if government attempted to control the news stream on the internet so that they never need to find out about it.
When things go south, as they must, our vast dependent population of voters will be happy to be told that the Americans are to blame.
Canada's new $501M Journalism Tax Credit recipients first require a government designation via a government board, who are selected by the government. Hitler would be so proud of the Liberal Party of Canada…
Just another, reluctant boyfriend budget. So disappointing. 10 years to cure homelessness? Meetings and more meetings with officials he said, while people freeze. Hes awful.
Theres just no proof of his work, except the handouts. He wants us to drink the kool-aid but most dont like his flavors… he really does think were stupid. Jmo..
I don't think we are stupid, although it feels like that most days. I think we are and have always been apathetic. We're great at getting out and protesting for other countries and their political dilemmas but we rarely just protest for ourselves as citizens of Canada. It's always for a cause far away from us. While that may be admirable, it doesn't take much effort to show up on a Saturday afternoon and protest for the flavour of the month cause. Everyone goes home feeling virtuous and satisfied. Maybe Carney should think twice before turning us into the most non European Europens. Europe is in chaos right now and there are major protests everywhere. Is this the kind of European culture he wants us to embrace? Perhaps we should be looking for tractors a la European custom to launch our own protests. Carney will be so proud. We're just like Europeans.
I like Europe and it people, but you have a point , we protest for everything and everyone except ourselves. Maybe its time. I like Canada and our ways.
Carney's sloganeering often comprises childish throwaway lines. "Elbows up", "Canada strong" (Lance Armstrong anyone?), "Hope isn't a plan, nostalgia isn't a strategy", "Canada's new government".
I have one for you Prime Minister, "Long on promises, short on results".
What came to mind was Pinocchio.
Yes!
And he certainly had mastered his unique practice of "Long on promises, short on results" long before he and his underlings produced this budget!
“Where’s the beef?”
Canadians need to reform their thinking and stop thinking of the government as their sugar daddy.
"Individuals can spend their money more wisely, efficiently and more humanely than can government."
Larry Elder
Well done, my Lord.
May I add a thought?
“So long as opinion is strongly rooted in the feelings, it gains, rather than loses, instability by having a preponderating weight of argument against it. For if it were accepted as a result of argument, the refutation of the argument might shake the solidity of the conviction; but when it rests solely on feeling, worse it fares in argumentative contest, the more persuaded adherents are that their feeling must have some deeper ground, which the arguments do not reach; and while the feeling remains, it is always throwing up fresh intrenchments of argument to repair any breach made in the old.” John Stuart Mill

When Carney talks about prosperity he is actually referring to his own wealth and how it's doing so well... at the expense of regular Canadians.
Carney is the leader of the slogan universe...
Don't forget his favourite word " catalyze".
He's definitely a man of words action though, not so much.

A pernicious man child with an agenda grounded in corruption.
Homelessness increased 300% under the Liberals… he’s now promised to “end homelessness in 10 years”…
Elimination of homelessness ten years is pure fantasy on his and governments part. Does this government really think Canadians will believe this? This budget is a game of Craps, and he is gambling with our financial future with our money and none of his.
Gary, yes, yes, yes, they do believe that Canadians will swallow this swill. After all, Canadians elected them ...
Precisely.

Well, why should they stop trying this tactic when it appears to satisfy incurious Canadian voters?
Stop blaming the Liberals for doing what works electorally, and start blaming Canadians who blindly follow this nonsense.
I agree I still keeping “nagging” mine. May be he will cross the floor. lol lol fat chance of that !!!
Remember he wanted to build small cottages for the price ofa house not too long ago...
Well, if you gotta be in a tent for 10 more years, i wish you a warm blanket.

Excellent post. You nailed it.
Another comment....sadly Canada is well on its way to the EU......as well as the US. Glad I am in my waning years as I don't want to see the ending.
China is facing a labour shortage but will not bring in immigrants, so:
1) Canada brings in loads of immigrants to drive down wages;
2) Canada runs huge deficits to spur inflation and reduce the value of those wages;
3) Canada provokes Trump so Trump imposes crippling tariffs;
4) Canadian manufacturers go out of business; so
5) Joly can ask China to buy Canada's factories; and
6) China can staff those factories with cheap Canadian and immigrant labour.
Voila! We save China. Of course, in China's eyes, Canadians and immigrants have no more right than Uyghurs.
