Sigh, I like Rubio’s view of the world far more than our globalist technocratic Prime Minister’s. But I am a small minority in this silly country

andersm0's avatar

The standing ovation further exposed Carney's weak foreign policy strategy based on anti-American resentment and vindictiveness.

John Powell's avatar

Marcie, more share your views than you think

Trevor's avatar

He’d like you to think that but I do believe you and I are the majority for NOT liking our technocrat authoritarian

Terry Reynolds's avatar

Not a small minority at all ! TDS is what is keeping Carney up in the polls

Verna Scott's avatar

Damage control for Trump. Carneys only flaw..green energy.

Mary Lucas's avatar

But Carney's Green focus comes from his globalutst perspective. I am not convinced he puts Canada first.

Verna Scott's avatar

Well you do know germany is using solar for fences.. what else. Globalist..im voting pierre if he doesnt change c69

Stalantis had suggested they might come back to make the hybrid.. sales were so bad in the US. Politicians lie. They are all globalist.. it was Carney that helped hsrper in 2008 weather our financial crisis..

A wait watch and listen for me

Cheers!

In fairness, it was mainly Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, not Mark Carney that pulled Canada through the global financial crisis. Mark Carney has been rebuked by several people for trying to steal the entire credit. Flaherty developed fiscal policy with Carney cooperating on monetary policy.

Verna Scott's avatar

Oh ok! Not what came up when i checked.. Jim Flaherty was a great MP. Tks for that.

Verna Scott's avatar

Despite the 2025 critism of Harper, of Carney, as i googled.. Harper was previously impressed with Carney and offered him the job of Finance minister in 2011.. how does that fit in.

I guess Carney was becoming competition for the conservatives as he won the job of PM and not Pierre..fair is fair.

andersm0's avatar

Carney was perfectly capable as BOC governor. Correcting the record to recognize Flaherty does nothing to diminish that. Harper felt compelled to speak out when Carney tried taking full credit. In the military it's called stolen valour.

I listened to his speech three times it was so inspiring. Trump must use Rubio to speak for the US as he was brilliant in his words, diplomatic, and so much smoother on the pitch than Trump.

Martin Dixon's avatar

A lot of folks up here like to write off anyone associated with T. Which is nonsense, of course. but on brand for the Carney groupies.

Verna Scott's avatar

Lol. I like Rubio. No matter.. hes foing damage control for Trump. Jmo ..dont forget midterms

Secretary Rubio is a very fine Statesman. The Americans are done cow-towing to the rest of the world.

Be strong, be independent, honour our civilization; and, GROW UP!!

We Americans, are doing this ourselves if necessary; however, together we can do greater things than we can do separately!

That was my take from Secretary Rubio's speech. He didn't mince words.

Carney needs to listen and learn!

Cheers.

Unfortunately Carneys ego will stand in the way of accepting an ideology that is not TOTALLY in step with his own. As usual Canada will be the last to accept common sense and the first to chastise other countries.

Jerry Grant's avatar

Ego or conflicting loyalties?

Carole Saville's avatar

Good point. Sam Cooper at the Bureau strongly suggests that Carney is beholding to the same people in Montreal that Chrétien and the Trudeaus were/are beholding to.

Tony Cannataro's avatar

It's not just his ego but also his globalist overlords that he bends the knee for and directs him.

“ what we have inherited together is something that is unique and distinctive and irreplaceable, because this, after all, is the very foundation of the transatlantic bond.”

I think Prime Minister Javani and President Rubio will get along just fine.

Carole Saville's avatar

Did you read the bit from some liberal toady telling the world that Javani was too ugly to be successful? I think Javani has a good shot at being a PM after another 4 years of learning in parliament.

Remember when the Liberals ran against free trade in 1993 and won? That was so cute. Oh and they broke that promise...but I digress. Now, to be fair, most of the mad cow addled elbows up baby boomer supporters of the current version of the Liberal party have likely forgotten that fact.

Verna Scott's avatar

Who'd leave carney when they are constantly referred to as mad cow elbows ups boomers and.. i mean it would be a F# vote..no? Im not voting liberal this time. It's all our country! No? My concern. Bullying doesnt work here. Policies do if they understand them. Jmo

All I can say is Amen Brother. Great speech

I absolutely love Marco Rubio. He is my new hope for a strong future in the US and all Western nations if only we could stop listening to the haters trying to undermine our democracies and that includes our Liberal Party.

andersm0's avatar

Rubio is the best Secretary of State the US has had in my lifetime following US politics. A complete change in tone seeking unity rather than Trump's threat and insult that was driving allies away. I trust Trump approved the speech because it presented Rubio as the greater man. And we know Trump's ego.

Edward Beauregard's avatar

We can all agree on Trump's ability to make ignorant comments. But our media should be paying some attention to other members of his cabinet who, in two years, will be vying for the Republican nomination for President. In that respect, I was pleased and impressed to see the following line in Marco Rubio's speech yesterday to the European Security Conference in Munich:

"And we have bled and died side by side on battlefields from Kapyong to Kandahar."

Both are battlefields where Canada achieved great things. Ka'pyong was where, in 1951, the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), supported by U.S. and New Zealand units, stopped the Chinese advance on Seoul. Kandahar was the site of Operation Medusa in 2006 where Canadian and allied forces smashed the Taliban offensive.

It is time to ignore Trump and look beyond him. I haven't seen this comment of Rubio's mentioned anywhere in Canadian media - which indicates to me that pulling out the ragged and torn Trump doll to beat on it some more has entirely a political purpose.

Mending fences is what this speech was all about IMO....a polar opposite of Mark Carney's doom and gloom speech from a few weeks ago...this gives me hope.

Not going to happen Brian the EU especially the UK spent every moment trying to destroy Trump with their phony Russiagate, so this is Trump revenge term. One by one he will expose the crooks and thieves in the UK, the worst of the bunch, and France and Germany. Well blowing up Nordstream and forcing Germany to buy expensive energy from the US accomplished that. They deindustrialized there manufacturing leading to their car industry to collapse. The UK is all about corrupt bankers and infected with WEF. And France could not have voted in a more pathetic leader. Their economy is in the toilet too. He has them pulling their hair out, trying to guess what hes going to do next and he loves every minute of it.

Trevor's avatar

Now ask any Liberal to explain a government policy. Not only will they fail, they’ll gaslight you along the way and insult your intelligence with liberal talking points that in no way match reality.

Kevin O'Mahony's avatar

A truly great speech, unlike Carney's.

Now, will Canada get behind the rejuvenation of the west or follow China and the same old pitiful grovelling to every woke cause?

Freedom from communism and it's CRT varients.

Start by banning antifa as a bunch of masked thugs only interested in anarchy.

Rubio/Vance 2028 could be a game changer.

Two highly articulate men explaining US policy in better terms than mean tweets and hyperbole.

UncleMac's avatar

Brian, you seem to be assuming King Carney and his ilk want a trading deal with the USA. At this point, that doesn't seem a safe assumption. Trump makes too good of a target for the Liberals and too many Elbowzo Boomers are conditioned to the Orange Man BAD narrative.

Marco Rubio's speech was an excellent and more urbane presentation than JD Vance's speech last year but the themes were pretty much the same. Rubio didn't make the German organizers cry so that's a good thing, I guess?

Janice's avatar

Is it only me who’s noticed that Canada is never mentioned in global strategy discussions? It’s as if we don’t exist

Trevor's avatar

Like JD Vance, all these guys understand the vision their government has and backs it because it actually makes sense.
