Cold comfort for Michael Rousseau, victim of political opportunism and political stupidity in this country. How low Canada has sunk to think that the issue of him being unilingual overshadows the loss of the two pilots and the trauma suffered by the passengers, emergency truck operators at LGA not to mention the air traffic controller whose life will also never be the same. Shame on Carney, the legacy media and the rest of the perpetually offended pearl clutchers in Canada.

truth. A supposed business genius thinks it’s a good idea to shame a real business genius who has brought Air Canada back from the precipice and tripled the revenue. When in fact he himself I believe was graded a 2 out of 10 last year in french fluency. Ethics and integrity and any kind of common sense have left the building.

Very true.

Yes very sad. Not something that needs to be politicized for sure.

No but the libs just can't resist.

If Air Canada CEO has to resign so should the governor general and Mark Carney for that matter. Neither speak French.

We are truly “cooked” as a serious country with this PM and government!

Will it be necessary for the CEO of any company doing business with the federal government to be bilingual? Seems we are heading that way. How many anglophones are fluent in French? Quebec knows how big an advantage they have.

The message that firing Rosseau sends is quite clear: At the top, being useful to the Liberals (byelection) and bilingualism matter and competence doesn't, not particularly. That is why so many competent young Canadians are heading south. Gradually, our top posts will get filled by people whose qualifications are simply checked diversity boxes.

Realistically, many Canadians vote for this stuff because getting the top five percent to head south improves the chances at the top spots for the others. They don't think it out but they do sense it.

A few more bellows of Elbows Up! and everything is fine.

We have become a punchline.

I wish I was surprised that our PM made the tragedy about him and the language police, but I’m not! It is another sickening affront to the two young men that were tragically killed doing their jobs!

There you have it. Carney throws Rousseau under the bus while defending Michael Ma.

At least we know where his allegiances lie.

Mark Carney is supposed to be a devout catholic, as a Christian myself I am stunned that the man seems to have no principles whatsoever and will not make any decisions based on any morals I recognize as a Christian. Shame! Shame! Shame!

This is the NDP's motto: "If you pay more taxes, then you'll get more free stuff."

First of all, Carney's comments regarding Michael Rosseau just piss me off, it is disgusting that the prime minister wades into this just to make political hay for the upcoming by elections, there is so much wrong with the way him and his liberal party are running the country into the ground it's hard to believe that people rally around him and his sheep like followers! In as far as the NDP is concerned they are acting like the socialist rejects that they portray, they need to go back in history and look at the rise and fall of their form of socialism, if they got a hold of Canada, we would be finished. The liberals are also going down that path with Carney's cozying up with communist China.

About the NDP delegates: The party knows it will never govern. But it can often hold a balance of power, right? If its major strongholds are universities and a vast and growing civil service, we should ask, do the antics bother those people? Probably not. So you are right to rethink the assumption that they are losing. They can wield enormous influence without wielding power and they plan to. They can keep insane policies in place indefinitely as they hold the Liberals in power.
