You're a better person than I, Brian. I want to be able to wish the (not new) federal govt well but I believe regime change is an existential necessity for this country at this point. And the only way that's going to happen is for Carney & Co to crash and burn. Sadly, that is the short term pain for any chance at long term gain that's needed now.

As a Canadian patriot I hope that Carney and the whole liberal government will be kicked out of office.

We need more than regime change. We need children. Canada’s fertility rate is 1.3 whereas a country requires a fertility rate of 2.1 to replace itself. To fill the gap, we’ll need to import people from countries that have a higher fertility rate. Our choices are: some South American countries, India, Muslim countries and Africa.

We definitely don't need Muslims or Palestinians because they don't want peace they want to exterminate Canadians and Canadian values. These Muslims and Palestinians have to be deported. Palastians have been at war with the whole world 🌍

The writing is on the wall. It has been since before Carney took over, leaving the same incompetence in place. Not just the government but this country has reached terminal velocity, we will crash and burn. Because of the past decade of incompetence. The problem is, the same incompetence refuses to acknowledge reality and do anything to slow down or soften the blow.

I notice with all the whining about Trump’s tarrifs no one mentions ours. Not to mention the seemingly endless barriers we put in place. We have few conservatives in Canada, certainly amoung the chattering pundits. Then you quote CNN to claim Americans are increasingly against tarrifs? How weak is that? His popularity is at an all time high while Canada becomes more of a laughing stock by the day.

You want Carney to succeed? Are you that clueless that you think he works for our interests? The more he succeeds, the worse it will be for us.

So called conservatives in this country need to stop being terrified of being accused of working with Trump.

Try advocating the end of supply management and other barriers. Try actually compromising and working with him and stop acting like children with TDS. You might actually help this country. Instead, the last thing the world will see of us as we sink below the surface, drowning in our own stupidity, is our raised elbows.

Nice to read Brian's work here on Substack! You are such a good writer, Brian.

Now, let's defund the CBC and repair the damage that has been wrought.

At this point in time there does not seem to be anyone in power who actually has the interests of everyday Canadians at heart. All we seem to have are political tax dodgers and grifters of various shapes and sizes. Last I read there are 2m families depending on food banks for their daily bread. Why is that?

I like your comment on the singing of our national anthem. When the Star-Spangled Banner is sung, people stand, take off their hats, and put their hands to their hearts. I remember at a Leafs game, the singer picked to sing the American anthem, forgot the words, and the fans finished it lustily. The good old days.

Great write up Brian. However I will disagree with you on fixed election dates. Fixed dates give the populace regularity and take the power out of the hands of the political elite. I want them to go further and impose term limits on MPs, Mpps and appointed judges at all levels.

Regime Change, Crash and Burn,

Short term pain, for a chance at long term gain.

Who will replace Carney&Co

Conservatives with Pierre Poilivre and the conservatives.

Good luck with that. We tried something like that in 2015. The result was that Canadians elected an individual, who I believe will go do into the annals of history as the worst Priminister in the history of Canada.

Calling it CUSMA is like saying the firearm confiscation is a buyback program. Using Liberal talking points gives them more leverage than they deserve.

NAFTA was an opportunity for free trade; Canada & Mexico screwed it up. USMCA was the result with the USA leading… and Canada acting like petulant teenagers being the last to sign in.

Our gubbermint negotiate in bad faith and it shows.

I was told by family that places like Germany send cars to America and never see any tariffs, but should an American car be sent to Germany, then the government applies an extra tax on the cars. This in turn makes American cars more expensive and undesirable. So is this a tariff? Isn’t this what Canada has been doing for more than 20 years? If I were a manufacturer in the US and my goods got taxed through no fault of my own other than being American, I would look to other markets and not sell to Canada.

So I’m hoping as the federal government continues to burn bridges, no trading partners pick up the phone to trade with Canada who clearly will burn the agreement in Canada anyway to protect yet another special interest group.
