We went from an immigration system that mattered, that worked, that other countries sought to emulate to a total disaster that is still in need of a serious overhaul. Canada’s immigration system was once orderly, rules based and fair and over the last ten years of Liberal rule in Ottawa all of that went out the window.
I had a chance to speak with Jason Kenney, the longest serving immigration minister about what went wrong. Kenney is a believer in a healthy immigration system, but not open borders.
As minister he promoted the idea that when people come to Canada they become Canadian, not treat this place as the greatest hotel on earth.
That vision doesn’t exist under the Liberals, but we could bring it back.

Danielle Smith will be holding a referendum in Alberta on limiting immigration and the benefits given to refugees etc which is long overdue. This is bankrupting our country!
