Canada works best when rules make sense, but a growing provincial patchwork creates needless confusion. Today, depending on their postal code, adult Canadians face conflicting regulations and uneven access to legal smoke-free alternatives. The goal isn’t more rules — it’s better rules. Federal and provincial leaders must work together to establish one clear, consistent national framework that protects those underage, strengthens enforcement, and supports informed adult choice.
Israel will hold it’s first election in four years on October 27. The last time voters in that country chose a new government was November 1, 2022.
That was 11 months before the October 7 attacks that changed everything.
Yesterday, I had a chance to discuss this election with Elon Levy, a former spokesperson for the Netanyahu government. I first met Elon in Tel Aviv when I visited Israel in January 2024, just a few months after the terrorist attacks.
At that point, even Benjamin Netanyahu’s harshest critics were willing to put off the idea of having another election until after the war against Hamas was over. I remember vividly speaking to one father who was no fan of Bibi saying that his three and five year-old daughters shouldn’t have to know what to do when an air raid siren goes off, but this is all they had lived with so he was supporting the government staying in power.
Is that where the Israeli population is today?
Polling shows they may be ready for a change, but as Eylon Levy tells me in the interview, it won’t be the kind of change that most Canadian and American liberals want. If Netanyahu is replaced, it will be by someone who wants to go harder on the war.
We also talk about the endorsement of Netanyahu by Donald Trump and whether that matters in the grand scheme of things. Trump is not unpopular in Israel, so that’s not an issue, but does it move votes for Netanyahu.
Voting takes place one week from today. Enjoy the conversation.

It is unfortunate our Liberal government still supports a “2 State Solution”. It can never happen when we continue to hear the Palestine slogan “From the River to the Sea…”
Brian! Why do you censor people for speaking the truth? Are we not allowed to say what’s really happening versus the propoganda from the MSM? Id appreciate an answer. Thanks.
