To my eye, Canada’s biggest mistake in the last decade or so was cancelling the Energy-East Pipeline. We would’ve had access to European markets by now who badly need our oil

Roger Langille's avatar

just think about it, It was a liberal Prime Minister more than 50 years ago proposed the national pipeline system for Canada to be totally self-sufficient in oil and gas.

You can thank the Conservatives & the 🇺🇸 for that! The millions in propaganda lives onto this day. Read the Ripped PP biography you learn all about it! Alberta's distrust of the federal gov liberal lives on to this day!

They still wont open their eyes!

I do not TRUST PM Carney. He has struck a deal with China which will probably include access/ownership to our oil and gas industries.

So far he has claimed to be busy signing all these new deals and improving our lives. I only see 42% of our income going towards the government with no relief in sight.

There is no pipeline coming. The MOU is a lie. The conditions attached to it are impossible. They have become more stringent in recent days. The carbon taxes make the prospect of selling oil through this hypothetical pipeline unprofitable & therefore impossible.

There is one purpose for this MOU:

To string-along Albertans & give them false hope that this country cares about them.

I agree with all that you say, Keith, particularly your last sentence.

You are 100% correct Ken.

I just don’t buy into the carbon capture offset scam. Trying to create a new industry that no one really wants or cares about. Last I checked we have billions of trees which already offset emissions.

Truth. Carbon capture is a discredited scam

" Paul Colborne, CEO of Calgary-based Surge Energy, tells Brian why he’s convinced Prime Minister Mark Carney is serious about boosting oil production, including with more pipelines, and why investors are clamouring to get in on it. He explains why he even sees benefit to the carbon-tax and emissions-sequestering conditions in Carney’s memorandum of understanding with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. "

Feckless appeasers - stop with the capitulation to carbon HS (horse sh!t) - it does nothing but increase costs everywhere. Mr Colborne may be optimistic but but Carney will extract 2 -> 3 pounds of flesh via 'carbon' and indigenous politics - to the detriment of Canada GDP. He lives and breathes carbon HS.

I agree and this statement, "...using resources to get us out of the disastrous, money-printing economic dead end the last prime minister left behind. " He's just as bad, if not worse than Trudeau at spending our money. I don't trust him at all.

If Paul Colbert says he likes a carbon tax and trusts Carney then he’s a traitor to the OAnd G industry. Carbon is the lifeblood of plants and not a harmful chemical and he of all people should remind the sheep of that!

I personally think Carney sees Canada’s resources and infrastructure as his own personal garage sale. Canada won’t own anything by the time he’s finished

Funny, when I started to listen to this, I am thinking Paul Colborne is a Chamber Of Commerce conservative(kind of like Goldy Hyder and not a compliment) so what else is he going to say. Referring to the "right wing" was a tell. Also thought it would be interesting to hear what Adam Waterous had to say. And there he is getting quoted. Try and get an interview with him. Brantford boy and a genius(like his siblings and his dad). He won't pull any punches.

I though Paul offeredsome good points, but as he says TRUST !! goes for him too

Scott Newell's avatar

I’m very surprised by his comments

Until Carney realizes carbon is the basis for all life on earth investment will never come to Canada

Martin Dixon's avatar

Peak oil…peak demand. Round and round it goes. It is like lakefront property, there is only so much of it. Going long on oil has always been a great bet. The one percenter coupon clippers have never wanted the oil patch developed here and carbon emissions was just a convenient excuse. Many of them are more than delighted to see the price of gas go sky high and missiles keep getting launched in the middle east. Wars have always been great for commodity investors. It has been ever thus.

To trust Liberals is plain Libtarded ! Smoke @ Mirrors

Unfortunately Paul you are wrong again. Mark Carney gang just stymied any oil production again. Net zero and tanker bans no new pipelines are in full effect

Listened to most of this podcadt. Paul makes some great points. Trust it seems to be the biggest issue.

Some of the figures hes throwing out are astronomical on investigations and they resulted in barely nothing .

Points about Carney becoming a leader. Left with a 9 year mess. agree. bill c69.

We use to be #2 in the world for safety measures with gas and oil.

Carney has changed his vocabulary. He now says Oil.

So much detail , as im a big picture person.

Great interview.. informative. And believable...
