I am not sad that americans find canada irrelevant. I am very sad though, that canadians are so propagandized and uninformed that they think big mark is gonna make a positive difference...they are completely sunk. And as good little polite canadians, who don't want to complain, they do not see that they are now third world and going south fast. 2 generations of kids were not taught critical thinking skills, literature nor history. Life was made cushy. Soft laws, lots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances, no judgement. I remeber being at a DC think tank event years ago where panelists discussed northern routes and resource access for twenty minutes without saying 'Canada' once. It wasn't hostile, just genuinely not on thier mental map. The challenge isn't getting them to care more, its recalibrating how we approach diplomacy when the baseline awareness is basically nil.
