Doug Ford is a buffoon. I voted for him because what other choice did we have but let’s face it, he is not the brightest card in the deck. I originally thought he was a sincere guy who really cared. Yes he made stupid mistakes and said stupid things but his heart is in the right place. I am not so sure that this is the case any longer. He raves and rants in front of the cameras but there is zero follow through. Look at the example of that guy who woke up at 3 a.m. in his own place only to find a career criminal with a crossbow rifling through his stuff. He gets up and hears for his kitchen, is struck across the head by the crossbow and in his own self defence he stabs the intruder with a kitchen knife. So what happens - they charge the homeowner. Next thing you know Ford is on TV praising the guy for defending himself and ranting about him being charged. But… who charged him ? The Provence charged him. The Crown Attorney in that district charged him. And who do all of the Crown Attorneys in the Provence report to. - the Attorney General of Ontario. And who appoints the Attorney General …. The Premier of the Provence. In other words Doug Ford. So instead of ranting and raving why did Ford not call the Attorney General and say “ fix this…now”. He did nothing. Then we have the case of gaggles of thieves walking into LCBO stores in broad daylight filling up huge sacks or shopping carts full of booze and walking right out the front door- AND THE STAFF WATCHES THEM DO IT - and they do nothing. In one case a customer intervened and started throwing haymakers at the thieves and you can plainly hear the LCBO employees telling him to not get involved sir, leave them alone. Rebel News has done a lot of looking into this and I don’t care if you like them or not, they are right about this story. They uncovered that the staff are under orders to not do anything and in fact, if they do intervene they are subject to dismissal because if they injure one of these crooks, the LCBO can be sued. What ??? Rebel News reports that the last time the LCBO released theft stats - they claimed $ 70 million dollars of theft in one year and that was 5 years ago. This is going on all across Ontario and guess who is covering these losses ? You and I, the suckers that pay full price for this stuff. Ford got in front of the cameras and raved on about this issue as well. Then he did….. nothing. Apparently the LCBO do not even contact the police when these thefts occur. This is ridiculous. Why are there not armed police or security in every store with the mandate to get involved. Surely that would cost less than $ 70 million a year in theft. But Doug does nothing but buffoonery on TV. It’s pathetic,

As for Mark Blarney going down to Washington, a lot of people are speculating on exactly what it is he is looking to achieve there. Is he there to sign a trade deal? Is he going to give up on supply management? What other concessions is he going to make to the United States? Does he have a plan that he wants to pitch to get the steel and aluminum tariffs lowered ? David from the podcast Moose on the Loose has a theory that makes a lot of sense to me. He is postulating that Mark Blarney has no interest whatsoever in negotiating a trade deal. The reason for that is simple, as long as he can keep the liberal voter focussed on Donald Trump as the bad guy, the guy who wants to take over Canada, that will keep them distracted from the real issues going on here that Blarney has done nothing about - housing, food inflation, energy inflation, unemployment, homelessness encampments in every city, huge budget deficits, a crumbling healthcare system, not one trade deal reached with anyone, not just the USA. The minute he signs a trade deal with Trump, is the minute Trump ceases to be the bad guy and and the focus shifts back to domestic policy. The liberals do not have a leg to stand on on that front, and they know it. That’s why Poilievre was 30 points ahead of them before the last election, he was focused on domestic issues and they were getting killed. When the Liberals shifted the focus from domestic issues over to Trump - “ Elbows Up” - It worked. They are betting that since it worked for them then then they will double down and they are going to keep that ball rolling on that front for as long as they can milk it. Unfortunately even some Liberals are beginning to see that there is not a lot of substance going on outside of all of the Blarney that Mark Blarney spews. They’ve destroyed the economy. David thinks that Blarney is going down there to sign a missile defence deal that’s going to cost the Canadian taxpayer, in other words you and I, billions of dollars that we don’t have. Now why would Mark Blarney be so interested in a missile defence system right now, all of a sudden , that is so urgent that he needs to take care of this before he negotiates what we really need - a trade deal ? The answer is simple- Mark Blarney owns a bunch of shares in Lockheed Martin, and what does Lockheed Martin do? Why, they make missile defence systems. So Mark Blarney is going down there to sign this deal so that his stock portfolio will grow even richer while he still can. In other words, you and I pay for this with our taxes and Mark Barney gets richer on our dime .It’s a win-win ……..for him, not so much for the Canadian taxpayer, So let’s see what comes out of this meeting. And if it’s a new missile defence system, don’t say you weren’t told.

Thank you, D B, for writing what troubles my heart and mind. I wonder if Liberal voters have taken notice yet of the Blarney. You named him appropriately well.

Thank you for your thoughts as well. Hard core Liberal voters are almost cult like. To me, they were brought up with the philosophy that if you were a “good” person, you voted Liberal, as they were both progressive and passionate. The Conservatives meanwhile were these traditional nasty people who only supported business and cutting social programmes. They looked at it from the point of view that -“ I am a good person and good people vote Liberal”. Now that may have been true even up until about 10 years ago, but since that time the Liberals have shifted and they have become more and more dogmatic, and highly authoritarian- but that’s OK Canada because we are doing it “ for your own good. We know what’s best for you even if you didn’t”. The Liberals have left the moderate left position they have traditionally held under Pearson, Chretien and Martin and veered off to the extreme left as we saw under Trudeau and now Mark Blarney, The Conservatives had a big problem- while most Conservatives were centrists as well, leaning to the right - they had this faction within that was ultra conservative- anti abortion, anti gay rights etc and to become the leader of the party you had to appease them. So the last few years Andrew Sheer and Erin O’Toole - just to get named leader of the party, placated to that conservative faction to secure the nomination. The problem was they then had to run on some of the policies that they promised those ultra conservatives to get the position, which did not reflect the views of even the majority of Conservatives and it cost them the election over and over. Poilievre is the first one to convince the Conservative Party that they were losing elections because that fringe of the party was waging the dog not the other way around. Poilieve has now moved the Conservatives into the middle ground that the Liberals abandoned but unfortunately a lot of voters in Canada do not pay any attention to what the leaders say or what the platform of each party is, they vote by their old preconceived notions of what a Liberal was and what a Conservative was. Essentially they vote by “ brand” and to them it’s “Liberal -good, Conservative- bad”Just give the Liberals more rope to hang themselves. This country is an economic basket case and Mark Blarney is all talk, zero substance. He is only making things a lot worse. Give them another 6 months to a year. A lot of moderate voters are going to realize that things are bad and a change is needed. I have hope. Poilievre is a once in a generation politician. The man actually cares. He is not in it for money which one cannot say for Mark Blarney, he actually in it because he gives a damn.

Allan, it’s not the Fucked Up Liberal hard core voters the Conservatives are going to need. It’s the politically detached voter who does not follow politics. They are the voters the Conservatives need to sway. And how do they do that ? Simple - just let the economy keep going down the tubes. Food keeps rising, job insecurity keeps rising, utility bills keep rising, rents keep rising but wages are not, and the dollar drops. They will decide hey, we need a change and I will vote Conservative this time because I voted Liberal last time and nothing happened. The Die Hard Liberals are not going to look at reality, they are content having the leaders of their party and it’s mouthpiece the CBC manipulate and lie to them - they are totally fine with that because somehow they feel that they are morally superior to the rest of us. So, that’s cool - let them get used and played, If they accept everything they are told by the backroom Liberal elites like Gerald Butts at face value - shame on them. They are only hurting their own pocketbooks.

Maybe Doug Ford's dream job is CEO of LCBO. Why doesn't he quit his current job and send them the resume.

If Doug Ford takes away my Guinness, I swear to God I will start a revolution. He can dump all the Crown Royal he wants, and anything else on that list.

But don't mess with my last remaining vice which is sent to us by the Irish Gods through the holy St James Gate in Dublin. The source of that wondrous and magical elixir.

I am an anti vaxer. No mRNA for me. I was anti COVID right from the start. We began meeting with groups of people in 2020 and continued right through the vax rollout. People who knew Ford staffers personally (I don’t) said Ford wasn’t vaxed. His family weren’t. And he advised his staff not to be. Yet he made the whole province take it.

IF TRUE. And I have no personal knowledge. But if true he isn’t a njce guy. His heart isn’t in the right place.

"Carney has so far failed to deliver with Trump."

He has made things worse. Counter-tariffs and sh!t-talking have just made Trump angry. Smith negotiated like an adult and got O&G tariffs down to 10%. She is the far better politician.

Ford is an example of being corrupted by the power of office and why leaders should be limited to serving 2 terms. Plus he’s been acting like a Liberal Party of Canada operative since 2020.

Ontario is sorely lacking in ethical, smart leadership.

It should stand up great for NATO service in eastern Europe , Iran. or even Venezoola.

“You know what you can still get?

You can still buy Chinese booze at the LCBO despite their trade war with us, their tariffs on Canadian goods, their kidnapping of Canadian citizens. But thankfully, I can still buy whatever this is on the shelf at my local LCBO.”

All this, from “buck a beer” Ford and his redneck sycophants?

Brian, the piece about Ford as a deranged union leader is really funny. Fourteen million people in Ontario with really important issues and America bottled booze is the thing he keeps coming back to. Regarding Crown Royal, the distilled spirit comes from Ohio corn and an Indiana distillery before aging in American oak in Canada. Seems rather zen for it to return to USA for bottling.

Rye whiskey isn't made from corn.

I can't think of a single well-known Canadian-made Bourbon. or corn likker

You got one?

Crown Royal is a blended whiskey. So the alcohol can come from a variety of grains. Crown Royal Northern Harvest is from rye mainly and perhaps completely. Who knows what Crown Royal Peach or Salted Caramel or Blackeberry are made from.

Lilly's bar preferences are driving his Red, White and Blue perspectives. He doesn't mind hewing wood or drawing water but I'd be he's never done either as a day job. Putting Canadians out of work to Make America Great Again isn;'t great for Canada and it ISN'T going to work for the USA. Who's going to buy all that US-bottled Crown Royal? They are!

It was ALWAYS for the American market. Now it still is.

The Brits (DeoGeo) international consortium will make the profits.

Personally I always preferred the taste of Alberta Ryes.

CR is still brewed in Gimli, Man - and trucked across the border duty-free?
