The experience of trying to hire people to do various maintainance , plumbing and heating , construction etc, people began a long time ago to reduce their taxes . Avoiding taxes has become a cottage industry .

This is much too common sense for the elbows up crowd. The bitterness and envy towards ‘the rich’ is sad and frankly embarrassing. We should be encouraging people to be ‘rich’ instead of seeking out endless entitlements. Decades of dependency on the government is self defeating for everyone and we just lose our best and brightest to the United States. It’s called socialism and it creeps in slowly and is bad for everyone!!!!

Stop

Crazy immigration. Stop spending crazy money overseas. Then deal with taxation

Indeed. But lowering taxation will increase prosperity immediately. Short term pain for long term gain. The constant tax and spend by liberals is hurting Canadians - except of course for the favourite liberal elites who are getting rich off the backs of regular taxpayers. Too bad voters are too shortsighted to realize this.

All three are possible simultaneously. Won’t happen.

Brian, it sounds great but far too many Canadians see the solution as taxing the rich right out of the country instead. The more the Liberals consolidate their power, the more they can encourage us to think that way and the less they need to do to lighten our own burden - except to claim that they are going to tax the rich more.

The ugly truth about Canada's politics (and which none of the politicians want to admit because it'd be political suicide) is that you can't solve problems by going after immigrants (as the right asserts) or the rich (as the left asserts), but you could solve it by going after the government itself. Many of Canada's problems could be resolved if we would only downsize government.

Cut the government in half

Liberals are addicted to taxes. Here a tax, there a tax, everywhere a tax, tax. They are simply incapable of understanding that if people have more money in their jeans, they’ll spend more into the economy. But that’s foreign thinking to a liberal. The brain drain is a real thing, it’s on now and the libs have no clue, no plan on how to stop it. Tax the rich… those that is, who don’t have all their holdings in tax free heavens or have lawyers paid to shelter all their assets.
