Melanie Joly is threatening to sue Stellantis. That should really help Canada attract more investment. 😬

John Powell's avatar

Mike “joly” good joke! Quote:”This overhaul will diversify the automaker’s capacity to meet growing consumer demand for low-emission vehicles”

“Growing consumer demand “? Pure fiction.

Ford has no understanding of conservative America. Idiotic ad strategy.

I would venture to say that most canadians do not understand the mood of americans. You can love trump or hate him. He was duly elected and a majority of the country fully approve of what he is doing. You might not like to listen to him ramble on...but my guess is that most people in the middle east are pretty happy today...and most americans are relieved to have a closed border and ice getting rid of the illegals...don't expect CNN or MSNBC to tell you this...but go to america and talk to americans....or if you simply won't go down there..fine...stay home and make canada great again...but don't hold it against trump for wanting america to be great...ask yourself why your own leaders don't want that for canada.

Exactly. When my premier, Danielle Smith, wants to build a pipeline or two to make the whole country rich, then it’s no more working together for Canada. It’s oh we can’t do that it’s bad for the environment! All lies.

Good points, Julia. Trump loves his country. I wish I could say the same about Carney. And lets not even talk about that piece of garbage Trudeau.

julia payne's avatar

Sadly, my observation is that canadians have not loved their country for a long time. They complain bitterly about all of it but re-elect the same people over and over. apologize for being of a certain skin color or ethnicity, as if they could do anything about that! They only dragged out the "recently-hated" flag in response to trump. They are new to "buying canadian"...(.ie don't buy american) .really, there's not much to buy that is made in canada..they buy chinese...even though the chinese have way bigger tariffs on canada than the usa does...

100% agree with you. Sad state isn't it?

carnage is an even BIGGER P.O.S. than his predecessor!!!!

Unfortunately, and dangerous because he is smarter and sneaker.

He’s really lost. He’s lost the plot completely. Also, the Conservative vote.

There needs to be a Leadership review.

John Powell's avatar

Agree 100%. Stellantis are broke. Sales are in the dumper. Ford is against tariffs as he says he wants to protect Canadas EV manufacturers. Really ? Yet he will

Not agree to dropping a 100% tariff on Chinese EV to protect canola producing farmers.

Huh?

What is Ford protecting ?

There is no EV auto manufacturing in Canada currently. Stellantis ? No sales. GM ? No. CAMI produces the “ bright drop” EV van. Production paused. No

Sales

It’s such a bunch of crap.

Canada is doomed. Ontario is lost. Toronto a parody

K Brooker's avatar

We are doomed under the idiots currently running the place!

John Powell's avatar

Mr Cobb I can hear Brian Lilley now :” Ford will survive a leadership review”

There are some things I want to believe in Ford. I did vote for him. I agree with you. I’m frustrated beyond belief. We are in an echo chamber here.

Problem is: no opposition party in Ontario.

No leadership conservative candidate to match Ford.

Bigger issue? The incredible federal government corruption . Carneys tyranny.

SMH

The corruption is real and it appears to have ensnared Ford and the Provincial Conservatives. The New Blue is deserving but sadly not yet sufficiently on the radar screen.

I was a Ford supporter previously, he changed. He used to laugh as hard as any of us at Trudumb before the China Virus then sadly Chrystia and crew turned his head too easily - Tits Up eh!

No more corporate welfare. Period, end of story. We have been playing this losing game far too long. To save a few jobs in ONtario we bail out the autoworkers, but when farmers and oil field workers in Western Canada lose their jobs due to decisions in Ottawa, it's oo bad. The Hub is covering this properly.

Doug Ford is a fucking clown liberal

Grace Turner's avatar

Ford has not held Conservative values for a very long time. If he runs again, I will not be voting Conservative in Ontario. He would rather scream with the “never Trump” crowd than look to learning how to negotiate, and see the value in standing with Canadians and Canadian businesses. How many more companies will say “No!”, to investment in Canada? We will not have to worry about a takeover by Trump, we will hand over the bankrupt mess on a silver platter.

That just it...Drug Fraud is a contemptible, lying, corrupt, juvenile, performative...FRAUD!!!

Susan Bushey's avatar

Ford is a Jerk.i would never vote for him.

Hansard Files's avatar

Ford’s frustration over Brampton’s Stellantis plant overlooks a core structural issue: Canada’s auto sector depends on U.S. market access, not provincial incentives. According to the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, 85% of Ontario-built vehicles are exported south. No amount of provincial funding changes that continental dependency.

Given the way tax dollars are thrown at greenies with reckless abandon, I find it hard to believe they only got conditional tax breaks.
