We wouldn't be having this vote if Quebec would pay their own bills and the Energy-East pipeline wasn't cancelled. Ten years of Trudeau mismanagement led to all of this...

I voted yes to the nine , and option 2 question 10

DS has it backwards

Vote option 2 and have leverage and get changes

OPTION 1 = NO CHANGE and MC does not have to do anything. And renders the other 9 questions pointless. MC s laughing at DS for being played.

Angela's avatar

Exactly. If we show weakness, nothing will change & we'll be taken even more advantage of. I currently doubt the MOU signed with Carney & Smith will actually come to fruition.

Carole Saville's avatar

I doubt that too many Albertans believe in another interestingly timed Liberal announcement. The MOU is bird cage lining.

Judy Jackson's avatar

Exactly, what are people in the Option 1/No camp not understanding? Do they not want a say in the future of Alberta?

Doug Stephens's avatar

We've got our share of the snake Carney's Elbows Up gang of Fools in Alberta as well.

IMO Albertans have been allowed to vote on a political hot potato ! Smith has done a fine job getting us the referendum ! Carney needs as much pressure on his policies and agenda that can be applied. Canadians need to stand up to him ! One province at a time if that is what it takes !

Voting option 2 on question 10 is the only one that makes sense. I’d the option one folks get their vote then it’s whatever Carney wants from Oct 20th on. At least with option 2 we have leverage against anything Carney or god forbid another liberal prime minister might make.

Danielle is a smart woman but she’s going to regret this one

Carney came to Alberta and instead of making a pitch for Canada, he did his usual fear mongering about a divided and dangerous world blah, blah, blah, blah.

I’m by no means pushing for option two but if you want Albertans to feel part of something then make the case for it. Carney can’t because he just doesn’t get it. He may have been born in the NWT, raised in AB, he’s 100% out of touch Laurentian elite. None of those people have a clue what goes on outside the bubble. Fear mongering about a dangerous world won’t convince anyone that Canada is a good proposition.

Canada without Alberta is screwed, not sure the other way around is as true but I’m pretty sure Carney didn’t convince anyone with his chicken little routine.

I love all the prepared scary words that all the liberals are spewing "divided and dangerous world" - give me a break.

I voted yesterday & I said yes to the questions 1 - 9 and Option 2. Sorry Brian, we have to start taking our future in our own hands. It doesn't look good for the future in Canada & while independence won't be easy, we're an entrepreneurial province with people who prefer to handle their own affairs & not rely on government. We need a healthy Option 2 to get the attention of Ottawa because if we don't, this will not stop here. It will be an issue much like Quebec - not satisfied with the status quo! I would encourage everyone to vote Option 2.

The future of Canada (and won't it be wonderful having 170,000 pages of regulations from the EU) is pretty dark.

According to the Fraser institute, Canada has very real (and alarming) debt problem. I want to stay in a county that is turning into Venezuela. Who will invest in Canada - a high level investment meeting is a meeting. An announcement is just an announcement. Carney is good at spewing words, not so good at actions - unless of course it is to form another department and hire his wife and friends.

Vote option 2 on question 10 and a pipeline is still on the table. Vote option 1 and it'll be slow-walked and eventually forgotten.

I disagree with our premier stating that Carney is attempting to better the relationship with Alberta. MOUs mean nothing and the restrictions make projects unfeasible, which then means governments need to use borrowed money to build infrastructure and pipelines. This in turn raises the interest taxpayers are on the hook for, and instead of declaring bankruptcy, they print more money which devalues our currency. Lise, lose, lose.

Carole Saville's avatar

Carney and the liberals probably want to nationalize everything they can, like good little communists.

We agree to disagree Brian. There is ZERO benefit to remaining in Canada. It’s a broken, socialist-minded quixotic (Canadian flags issue for just the most recent mental disorder of political progressives) country that changes its mind on important issues far too frequently. Even our “opposing” party in waiting can’t decide whether they are conservatives or mishmash middle of the road, change by the day, spineless politicians. I’ve taken the black pill on Canada as a country, too many braindead progressive ID10T’s for my liking.

However, if Alberta separates, we’d move your application to join to the front of the line.

He’s not wrong. Two entirely different cultures, yet Alberta’s largesse funds theirs. #WTF???

Danielle Smith wears a “Canadian and Alberta pin. Carney only ever wears “ the Order of Canada pin”just shows how much of a proud elites he is. Are there any Conservative Canadians that have earned the OOC pin? Seems to me they are all Liberals.

this October 18, vote for democracy. Vote for *voting*

I would love the opportunity to vote on these questions in Ontario. Then Doug Ford could address our issues too.

Jerry Grant's avatar

I'd rather rural Ontario separated from Golden Horseshoe.

Colin Pratt's avatar

Sorry Brian - Option 2 on question 10 or nothing. Carney will just walk away if Option 1 gets a big vote

Judy Jackson's avatar

For heaven’s sake Question #10 is a referendum vote on a referendum. It’s a do we want a Referendum vote on Separation. Option #1 is voting not to give Albertans a choice and Option #2 is giving Albertans a referendum on leaving or staying in Canada. Why would you not want a choice in choosing the future of Alberta regardless of your opinion?

Colin Pratt's avatar

The option 2 may not win, but the bigger the number the bigger the sentiment is. I am not a born Albertan, I am a "moved here and love it" Albertan and seen how Ottawa just shrugs at Alberta. Option 2 for me
