I am in Panama this Canada Day. This country is not perfect, but regulations are few, taxes are low and people are friendly and happy - and their beef tastes great.
Panama reminds me of the Canada I lived in for the first 50 years of my life on the prairies. The 'get 'er done' attitude that actually got things done.
We aren't that place anymore. We have ceded our country to a government whose ideologies are very much closer to communism than democracy. A few more 'internet safety' bills will have us with North Korean internet standards.

No disrespect to Panama, but according to US News & World Report’s quality of life report, Canada is ranked #13 in the world while Panama is ranked #57. So they can go ahead and live in Panama, totally free to do so, but quit complaining when Canada is one of the best countries in the world to live in.

So its that a few weeks ago Carney again hopped a jet and this time flew to B.C. to announce the federal and B.C governments would use taxpayer debt to bail out the condo developers while helping Canadians purchase homes. How? Ah, details to be provided in September. Lots of announcements, all with few specifics. “The devil is in the details”, in Carney’s case, the lack of details is the concern.

Does the U.S. need Canada more or does Canada need the U.S. more? I sense the latter. But if CUSMA is not ratified, Carney's Liberals know that the Canadians who keep them in office will simply be pleased that he is *showing* Trump.
They will see the rising prices and falling dollar and blame Trump, or his successor. If a Democrat succeeds him, they will blame the U.S. generally.
These types of problems are not fixable from the outside. They are visible symptoms of a slowly failing society. The failure is slow at first but then starts to speed up "unexpectedly" when critical weak points are reached.
There is a caveat that continues to be under-reported in the press and that is that Trump doesn’t support CUSMA in its current form. The last bit is important - in its current form.
It means let’s negotiate something else.
Waiting for the mid-terms or for the next President will not guarantee a better deal. Remember Biden immediately adopted America First policies. Time to quit fooling around and deal with it.
