Carney is the living image of Peter Sellers in "Being,There". Dumber than any of us ever imagined..but looks sharp in his Banker's costume. To me, he is a " little man"..making Canada a " little country" and us, a " little people".

What does Carney gain from recognizing Palestine right now, at this particular moment in time ? Things are different for Australia - who also made this same move - they decide to strengthen their economic ties with China in light of the Trump tariff issue. They are a minor trading partner for the US anyway. Britain has inked 2 new trade deals with Trump in the last 6 months - the most recent was last week after he was feted by the Royals so they can pretty much do as they please now, they have their deals. Canada has no deal with either Britain, the E.U. and most importantly Trump - it’s largest trading partner and this is the wrong move right now. It’s actually really stupid as all it’s going to do is anger the US and make our position in trade negotiations with the US even worse. Carney is looking to inch Canada closer to Britain and Europe. He has been catering to their defence needs and he calls Canada the most European of the Non European nations. To me that is his motivation here - trying to please Macron, Starmer and the rest of the EU in the hopes they will “accept us” into their cabal so he can push us away from the US..There are a lot of problems with that. Europe is broke and some of its stronger member nations have bern in a recession now for a couple of years. Secondly to trade with them will be quite expensive. To buy one Euro you will need $ 1.60 Canadian, and to buy one British Pound -it will cost you $ 1.70 Canadian, so a 70% exchange rate. This is the wrong policy at the wrong time. You wait to get a deal fine with Trump then you make a move like this. Once again Carney has shown that he is clueless as a strategist and as a negotiator. Regular Canadians are going to pay for this and that is sad - but then regular Canadians keep electing the Liberals and they are still favoured in the polls, so you get what you bargained for.
