"If the courts and federal government are going to change land ownership and title in the name of reconciliation, I’d say they should be be open and up front with the Canadian people."
This is the sleeper national unity issue that nobody is taking about. Everyone is focused on Alberta or Quebec but you can not have a functioning democracy/economy without well defined private property rights.
The BCNDP and federal Liberals are playing with fire and this issue will not end well for BC or Canada as a whole.
Unfortunately, Canadians do not have property rights so this plays right into the Federal governments plans pre the WEF: We will own nothing & be happy. When the constitution was being discussed, there were those who wanted property rights included but it was quashed, thus we are where we are. No property rights thus at risk for losing a property that we've spent our lives paying for. Aren't our governments great??
“One thing Carney didn’t do while in India was take any questions from the media travelling with him.” When was the last time anyone from the Liberals were asked or responded to an unscripted question from any journalist, or opposition MP? I was home and down with the flu the past few weeks, and made the mistake of tuning into question period from parliament on CPAC. Conservatives and other opposition MPs asked specific questions with facts on the broken immigration system to the minister and other Liberals, and what was the plan to fix the damage. These are all points that affect Canadians in terms of safety, health care, and affordability. Liberal after Liberal rose in the house insulting every person asking questions with a pathetic word salad that never came close to an acceptable response on anything. This cannot continue. Canadians need to start pushing for answers and lobbying their MPs for a non-confidence vote ASAP. Canada cannot go on with an incompetent unaccountable government much longer.
Being open and up front is not a liberal strength. They are sneaky and stonewall orders in council to make it secret. I do not trust them as far as I can throw them.
Who did the Uranium deal with India? It was Cameco or what did Carney have to do with it? In the past 3 years India has imported virtually all of their uranium from Cameco supply world wide. This must just be an extension. Nothing for Carney to brag about.
Kowtowing to Aboriginals is the biggest threat to Canada that exists. Especially given that the definition of an Aboriginal doesn't exist. The racism going on in this country is abhorrent. I think it will destroy the country in a very short time.
When decisions this big are made behind closed doors, uncertainty fills the gaps — and uncertainty is what erodes public trust faster than anything else. Transparency isn’t a luxury in situations like this; it’s the minimum requirement for stability.
Clear information calms people. Silence does the opposite.
Brian, do you think Carney's promise to invest more than a 100 billion dollars of our Canada Pension Plan in India sweetened the deal? Why weren't Canadians allowed to know what business leaders Carney met with during his India trip?
The uranium deal will benefit investment banks who own Comeco & their clients & France who owns the other one one of the two big mines. Why didn't Carney have somebody from the companies sit in or did he?
I don't really get why HE is dealing with this rather than the companies themselves...don't THEY usually negotiate their OWN deals?
If they take the house and property in Vancouver it will set a precedent for others.. its similar to the govt expropriating your property. Seems nothing is safe any more..
Carney making deals with India as I read was to fix the mess from Trudeau. A good thing . No?
Yes a tyrant is gone.. trump i.m.o. would never attack if he didnt think he could win.. so far he is. So are the Iranians!!!
Great coverage. Clear point of view in regard to India was worth reading. I was responsible for some aspect of last two visits of Harper to India (KPMG Business Corridor) and know exactly what you said here. He had truly built a great start along with Stuart Beck. CPP and Teachers joined in too. Pension fund investments (CPP/Teachers) started immediately after that. Nearly 15 or 16 years I think. Was completely destroyed in the last 10 years. I listened to the entire podcast yesterday, including the detailed discussion on the security issues. It was incredibly thorough, insightful and well-structured. The depth of analysis, players who spoke and balanced perspective made it both informative and engaging from start to finish. Truly terrific and comprehensive work. Valuable discussion. Thank you.
I guess that puts Canadians on the same level as their government because in this government, no one seems to know anything about anything. Sadly, that’s A OK by the elbows up brigade.
We are governed by a cabal of underachieving dolts, supported by a gullible, uninformed sheeple.

I agree, it’s a JOKE here in parliament!!
We've been too apathetic for too long & it may well be too late before people wake up!! Alberta has, Quebec has - what about the other provinces?
Being open and up front is not a liberal strength. They are sneaky and stonewall orders in council to make it secret. I do not trust them as far as I can throw them.
Sneaky sneaky bastards.

Check out Melanie from Saskatchewan’s Substack recent post.
Melanie from Saskatchewan is one very intelligent woman.

I thought he couldn’t influence the investment of our pension money
Reportedly, one of the managers of the Canadian Pension Plan is a pal of Carney’s. Influence??
Our pension money should never be allowed to be touched. Much less by a liberal. Everything they touch turns to shit.
The only thing Carnage did was make a nuclear supply deal that enriches him Thru Brookfield

Exactly my thoughts.
Carney trying to take credit for something long in the works.
Wouldn’t be the first time!

Great read!
Immediately not one more cent of tax payers money should go to these bloody so called Natives !
Then immediately all money to all Natives must be repaid with interest to all Tax paying Canadians over the past 50 years!!!!!

The weird part about sharing revenue with the FN is that they don’t share in the cost of any upgrades. It’s time they paid taxes.
That's what liberals do Mike. Generally they avoid questions by calling people racists, homophobes and other disparaging words.
