One thing many of us talk about is "respect" yet quickly fall into juvenile gas lighting. Like the gentleman referring to Trump's "felonies" (a kangaroo court judgment propogated by those who hate). And to call him a "huckster" is no different. At the very least Trump puts the US first, as should any leader of a country. Meanwhile we elect and support those who put us last, again by being and acting juvenile.

Correct! Lilley is playing the same old media hate game. “He’s a huckster. He’s bombastic. He’s unpredictable.” I, otoh, wish we had Trump or someone as smart, crafty, and patriotic as Trump leading Canada. Lilley minimizes himself as he uses CNN/CBC hate words.

But Trump is bombastic. He’s a New Yorker , tough. Uncompromising and totally , not “ couth”. He is also good for his word. Genuine in his love for America and true to his friends. And while he does enjoy hyperbole, he doesn’t lie and deceive like PM Carney. What you see is what you get.

I don’t have to be a “Trump supporter” (which is irrelevant as I’m Canadian) to see he is considerably smarter than Carney (who doesn’t appear to have a clue!!) The point and topic is Carney and the incompetent Liberals who started this whole fiasco with a ridiculous tax, not Trump (who will not tolerate the Canadian liberal nonsense that started with Trudeau!)

Pure speculation.. fun if no one gets angry. But....

I prefer to stay away from the personalities of political leaders, but consider their ideologies and actions. While I wouldn’t say I “like” Trump there are many things I agree with him about. Your example of supporting Israel is one, and I could name at least 6 other things (but that’s a discussion for another time). I’m not “angry” but I would say I’m frustrated with Carney (again I could list at least 6 issues). But on the issue at hand, CST, I would say he handled it poorly, embarrassed himself and by extension, Canadians. He had opportunity to think through the issue, as Trump suggested, but he humiliated us by not even considering that option. This is just one of his blunders, and just because he’s our PM doesn’t mean we should blindly follow or agree with him. I think it’s important for every Canadian to think through issues in a thoughtful, reasonable manner.

You must keep in mind that there are two houses engaged in trade. On the one hand, Trump seized the chance to assemble his team from individuals who have previously negotiated significant trade and business agreements. Donald Trump also "sits in" on some of the talks. In contrast, Canada sent a banker and individuals who had previously held positions unrelated to trade, commerce, or managing an essential component of Canadian commerce. Who are Carney and his cabinet working for, though, given how clear it appears that the US negotiating team is acting in the interests of the American people? If they are all playing poker, their strategies seem defensive and reactive, which is a sign of weakness.

The lead negotiator on the trade deal team is a lawyer out of Quebec; offhand, I do not know her name. But apparently she has a mind for details and bogs the negotiations down by digging into the weeds. Trump's team prioritizes signing a high-level agreement before delving into the details.

In looking up the profile of the lawyer, I found that over the course of her professional career, she has never done any deals of the high-profile nature. I would think to be assigned to a role, a person should have an understanding of economical manufacturing and what Canada actually trades and can offer as goods or services. I think the only reason she was assigned was she was the assistant to a lawyer who was active in trade in Quebec. But then who is she representing, Quebec or Canada?

There are countless other people I would have assigned to act as trade negotiators for Canada who have lifelong experience with trade, making deals, and working to the betterment of their organizations. And frankly, neither a banker nor a lawyer does any of that.

I sense your a conservative..i am this time. Libertarian mostly. The negotiating team , im not sure whos on it. But really does it matter.. carney, maybe knows that because Trump broke the ladt one he negotiated and signed. Like willy nilly.. gone.. has done what ever the heck he wants.

So we throw in a tax and he losses his mind and wont negotiate. I don't think at this point Carney cares. Jmo..

Its not about negotiating for Trump but winning. Will Pierre be any better. Maybe...maybe not..

Canadian born, used to be proud of this country that my father died for, sadly no longer because of the incompetent running of this country by the Liberals since 2015. It is the destruction of a country formerly respected on the world stage now laughed at. Canada's negotiating skills are disastrous and it is no wonder that Donald Trump takes advantage of this. We used to be great neighbors, the decline is solely caused by Liberal mismanagement. We can only hope for a change in government, sooner than later. Next mess will be the supply management issue, God help us.

Let’s focus on the real problem. Canada and the EU created these DS taxes to extract revenues from external sources — thus avoiding a domestic political cost. As many of these digital companies are American, Trump made it clear that he would not tolerate it — not if Canada and the EU wanted to negotiate lower tariffs. For the time being, Canadians should thank Trump for doing what Canadian voters lacked the courage to do. The Canadian government needs to stop spending money we don’t have! Eliminate barriers to productive enterprises that will generate wealth for Canadians — and tax revenues for governments!

The only reason Carney stepped on the gas pedal on the DST in the first place was to try to be loved by the EU, which has nothing going for it except fast degradation. America is going upward while Canada wants to follow the EU into Marxist-Islamist globalism. So sad.

Misinformation on the gas of life.

Some things on Planet Earth only work one way. Take your questions to a University Chemistry Professor and find out how things work in nature.

Carbon Dioxide, CO2 and without it, earth would look like the moon. CO2 is at 450 parts per million, in our air. If it goes below 150 parts per million all life on planet earth dies! PHOTOSYNTHESIS is the process in nature that needs the Sun, Water and CO2 to grow plants. Photosynthesis feeds the world with food for humans. CO2 that that feeds phytoplankton in our oceans makes half of our oxygen. Trees feed on CO2 and make almost half of the rest of our oxygen. CO2 is the gas of life, a miracle molecule – in the war on global hunger and poverty. Indeed, volcanoes were the original sources of CO2 that helped launch life on earth. Ask any

University Chemistry Student about these facts on CO2 that makes the world greener.... And you were believing the politics of the United Nations IPCC that CO2 was the devil ??

If photosynthesis ceased. There would soon be little food or organic matter on Earth. Most organisms would disappear, and in time Earth's atmosphere would become nearly devoid of gaseous oxygen. Double Blind science is important today. Make your choice, Al Gore science or William Happer science. Any questions go to “Climate the Movie” on youtube search.
