Brian you don’t help by calling President Trump a bully. He is hard tough and America first. He is working everyday. Thats not a bully

Carney is on vacation.

Should I call him a weasel ?

This is an economic crisis in Carneys own words, and he is on vacation?

We are screwed.

Yes, Carney is un-serious about dealing with problems & making any real progress FOR Canada. It's like he's putting in the minimum & just trying to avoid the worst flare-ups, likely with plans to retire from the political office early on, at an opportune lull in Canada's huge de line & fall. He do patently doesn't give a damn what happens to Canada. This is just another impressive (& failed) entry on his CV/resume.

President Trump is a bully. He clouts with unsupportable tariffs and clamours up and down to create suspense. He golfs. A bully.

Honestly you should go to boarding school if you want to know bullying.

It’s not your fault.

You don’t know the difference between hard negotiating and bullying.

As liberals clutch their pearls they are on vacation; with no depth to their cabinet

Trump is working every day.

His cabinet is awesome. Undeniable.

Lutnick. Bessent. Hasset. Serious financial wizards.

Who has Canada got ? Freeland ? Leblanc? Joly?

Go in Peace.

Bread is 7.00 a loaf at Loblaws. Try Food Basics. 3.00. Still too much.

But the point is this. Until Canada sorts out its financial madness folks must survive looking for cheapest stuff they can buy.

Wherever it comes from.

Typically a liberal Poster will try and manipulate data to propose factually incorrect information that looks good. Rather than spend your time whining about Trump perhaps you should look at the pathetic 11 year record of massive spending, debt and inflation, continued by Mr Carney, aptly nicknamed ‘carnage’

For the record :

“Approximately 161 million people were registered to vote in the 2020 presidential election and roughly 96.3% ballots were submitted, totaling 158,427,986 votes. Roughly 81 million eligible voters did vote “

Trump won :

Trump negotiates like a mafia don. "Nice economy, too bad if something were to happen to it."

To say what he is doing is hard negotiation is to call a Honey Badger a nice kitty. The man has no clue about economics, financial or monetary policies or trade. You only have to look at what he believes about other countries paying tariffs to the US.

As for Trump working every day, the bill to the taxpayers for his golf outings says otherwise. He's certainly not working for the betterment of the country, but rather for betterment of his net worth. His cabinet is made up of former Fox News hosts, Campaign donors, fellow Billionaires, ant totally unqualified but loyal sycophants. You can see how bad his choices have been in the chaos that happens on an almost hourly basis. Hegseth making policy decisions without consulting the WH. A rogue senior Pentagon advisor undercutting Hegseth. A total incompetent head of DHS that spends half her time cosplaying and the other half fucking up royally to the point that people have died.

Lutnick is tone deaf, completely out of touch with the lower and middle class concerns. He actually said if his mother didn't get her SS cheque, she wouldn't complain about it. She'd be ok waiting for it. He ignores the fact that her son is a billionaire who can help out financially.

Bessent is either a total sycophant, or too afraid to contradict Trump, or is just ignorant.

So yes, Trump is a bully. Worse, he's a bully who is in rapid cognitive and physical decline. His cabinet is a collection of unqualified ass kissers who have no clue what they are doing. And prices in the US are not getting better, and will soon get worse.

You don't know me at all so spare me your pseudo psychological assessment. I am a centrist, not a liberal or conservative. And just so you understand correctly, TDS is not an affliction of the non-MAGA. It is an affliction of the MAGA Cult, who constantly refresh themselves on the orange coloured Kool-Aid. They are susceptible to every means of gaslighting, manipulation and falsehoods that come forth from Trump and his sycophantic partners in crime. It can also afflict lemmings and sheep. The only treatment for TDS is learning to think independently for yourself. Questioning everything you are told by either the left or the right, and educate yourself using non-biased information and sources independent of the two sides.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. That is all.

Do have yourself a good day.

I’d like to see you function on typically 3hrs. of sleep with as many irons in the fire as Trump has. What other global leader has seriously taken on negotiating peace on multiple fronts like he has? Sure leaves a lot of time for golfing, doesn’t it? At least we know where he is & that’s more than we can say for Conman Carney & his predecessor toddler Trudope!

Expand full comment
Chris Galletly's avatar

First, your use of the word "seriously" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. Bombing a country then getting a ceasefire doesn't exactly shout "Give us Peace". Still waiting for the Russia - Ukraine conflict to be over in 24 hours. India and Pakistan? They do this several times a year. You can set your calendar by it. Rwanda / Congo? It's been going on since the end of the Rwandan Genocide. And efforts have failed time and time again. It does leave a fair amount of time for spending taxpayer dollars driving around a golf course.

During Donald Trump's first term (January 20, 2017, to January 20, 2021), he played golf 293 days. The total cost to taxpayers for his golf outings during this term was approximately $151.5 million. This figure includes expenses related to flying Air Force One, transporting his motorcade, and providing security.

In his second term, which began on January 20, 2025, Trump has played golf 18 days so far. The cost to taxpayers for these golf outings has exceeded $26 million. This amount reflects similar expenses as in his first term, including travel and security costs.

Summary:

First Term:

Days Played: 293

Total Cost: $151.5 million

Second Term (so far):

Days Played: 18

Total Cost: Over $26 million

As for working on three hours of sleep a night, with many irons in the fire, you just described my life from 1984 through to today.

As for knowing where Trump is, there are days where he doesn't even know where he is.

And the unemployment umbers are starting to climb. S&P is all over the place. Every time Trump says the word tariff, the markets shit themselves. This isn't the school ground and it's not about bullying. It's a trade dispute. To even suggest, while negotiating a trade deal, that's it is bullying, displays a terrible weakness on our part. Historically, Canada hasn't been all that great at crafting the best beneficial trade deals with the US. Our first NAFTA agreement was crafted with Mickey Cantor for the US. I always remember my mom, who followed politics, saying that Canada was no match for Mickey Cantor. While Trump, admittedly, is an extreme, Americans are good at making trade deals that benefit them. If you accuse someone of bullying then that puts you into the role of victim. Not a strong negotiating point.

If PM Carney were in a room with Trump and walked over and slapped him in the face, Lilley would say:

“Slapping Trump in the face is the worst thing he could have done. Provocative!”

If in that same situation, PM Carney did NOT slap Trump, Lilley would say:

“Not slapping Trump is the worst thing he could have done. Weak!”

Meanwhile, PM Carney along with his war-effort cabinet, are forging a bold, can-do path forward. He's ignoring the perpetual naysayers who are getting left behind in the crumbling ghetto of can't-do.

Wesley Wark wrote an interesting thought piece on various aggressive positions that the Carney team could suggest very privately to the Trump team. We don't know that these ideas are not being pursued. Both PM Carney and Melanie Joly have stated that they're not negotiating on social media.

My (snide for which I apologize) comment was the suggestion that the Carney team is failing or weak in its response. I rather doubt that considering how many trade deals are being finalized including Anita Anand's apparently successful mission in the far east.
