wake up Canada ... Carney has ZERO intention to take any action on building strong economy. HIS values and agenda are to bankrupt Canada. HE will NEVER allow a new pipeline or sign any contract with USA that would help us. WAKE UP.

Seems like DJT feels the same way about Carney as real Canadians do...DJT reeled Carney in LIKE A FISH and then blew Carney off. It was actually quite a delicious moment to enjoy over THANKSGIVING. BUT NOT A GOOD OUTCOME FOR OUR ECONOMY. BUT I AM GOING TO CARVE A THANK YOU TO DJT INTO OUR TURKEY FOR CLEARLY SHOWING CANADIANS WHAT A HUMAN TURKEY CARNEY REALLY LOOKS LIKE.

Carney has accomplished nothing. Zero. Zilch.

This guy is a deer frozen in the headlights.

Bank of Canada Governor, Bank of England, Brookfield ... yet he is a lame duck.

If I did not know better, I would say this is by design ... but nah ... can't be. Can't it?

Something is amiss. Something. No one can be THIS inept.

It IS by design. Same WEF design Starmer in the UK is following. Digital ID and CBDC’s up next! Carney is a Globalist working towards a global government. A danger to Canada.

I can't help but wonder if Carney bit off more than he can chew? He spent most of his working life being a gubbermint drone in Finance and married wealth. None of that speaks to actual crisis management skillz.

If the Big Three leave Ontario and there is no appetite in the US to manufacture EVs, what will Minister Champagne do with all the batteries that he is willing onto the unravelling electric vehicle industry?

Taxpayers are on the hook for billions of dollars to prop up a fairy tale EV industry. Will these staggering losses be shrugged off as "capital investments"? Will the Liberals have an ounce of shame for seriously misreading the EV market?

Expand full comment
PRAIRIESUN615530's avatar

The word "shame" doesn't exist in the Lieberals Lexicon. They didn't "misread" the EV market they knew that 5-6 months of winter snow and ice in Canada would tank the EV business, but their "investments" of taxpayer dollars were no doubt shared with their pals in the EV businesses and maybe even some perks for the politicians that pushed taxpayer dollars into that mirage.

Always remember Carney's green agenda. He doesn't want cars made in Canada. He wants us to have to import them so they're more expensive & people can't afford to buy them. Plus he still wants to implement the ban on gas powered vehicles.

He is going to take tariffs off Chinese made cars and force them down our throats. He and Trudeau both admire China. I will never forgive Liberal voters for what is going to happen to Canada.

Losing the assembly plants but keeping the parts plants is probably a blessing. There is more money and far more technology in parts manufacturing (and design) than in assembly. Assembly is lower skill and can be largely automated. (I have been in the automation business for 30+ years with a lot of that in the auto sector on both sides of the border).

Expand full comment
K Brooker's avatar

What about the jobs though? Canada has been giving money to these car companies only to be stabbed in the back. What will Ontario be without them?

Expand full comment
Dean's avatar

Low skilled assembly jobs can be replaced by high skilled parts manufacturing jobs. Governments never should have given the money to these companies. With the dollar per job subsidies they handed out they could have sent these people back to school for retraining in higher skill and higher pay positions. Assembly plants are moving as much as possible to automation to reduce costs and because of the historical frictions between management and unions. Of the approximately 462000 automotive jobs in Canada, only about 37000 are directly related to assembly. Politicians love assembly plants because it's a lot of jobs in one location. But in the greater picture it's not that significant and not the type of high skill, high pay employment that drives productivity and boosts GDP. The money we have spent (foolishly) on subsidies is long gone. There is no point in following up bad money with good.

He is submissive …as maybe Canada should be. He lied though and has not delivered on his election promises. I'm guessing most Canadians are disappointed and disillusioned. I and many though are not surprised. It's very frustrating.

I don't think most Canadians are disappointed or at least they won't admit to it. The Liberal voters will never admit they screwed us by voting Liberal again after 10 years of Trudeau. That would mean they would almost have to admit they are idiots.

Keystone revival, great where is the oil coming I thought that was shut down by Trudeau. The tariffs are still here, Trump does not want one North American car made in Canada, he keeps hinting at the 51 st state. Perhaps Carney has a hidden agenda and he has a magic rabbit he and his party will bring us out of this financial dark hole. Personally I think he is putting a slightly different twist on Trudeau's philosophy of spending us out of debt. How long are we going let these "--------------" take us down into oblivion or worst to be th 51st.

How does 1 man have so much power over us? We have a pathetic economy and people are losing their jobs.

Cost of food is something he NEVER HAS TO THINK ABOUT.. ir the RENT..or paying for his kids hockey.. (Sports)

Im curious.. what does he think of that..he gets up and goes to work. Auto industry is at a stand still. Waiting...

IT'S NOT ONLY WESTERN PROVINCES THAT ARE DONE WITH WAITING, THEIR PEOPLE ARE FED UP SO IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON OR MOVE OUT OF CANADA. GIVE IT ALL BACK TO THE ABORIGINALS AND THE NEWEST 10 MILLION OR SO IMMIGRANTS FROM THE PAST 15 YEARS TO PAY THE TAXES. MOST TAXPAYERS EXPECT TO ACTUALLY BENEFIT FROM PAYING TAXES, NOT TO BE ROBBED BY PARLIAMENTARIANS IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS OR WHILE SERVING ON COMMITTEES. AND NOW EVEN CPP FUNDS ARE BEING CARVED OUT TO KEEP THIS GOVERNMENT GOING. IS THAT A LEGAL USE OF CPP FUNDS?? OR A THEFT? NO GOVERNMENT THAT I KNOW OF POST WWII HAS REMOVED TAXPAYER CPP FUNDS FOR GENERAL EXPENSES OR NEW PROJECTS THAT ARE NOT IN A BUDGET TO BE APPROVED IN PARLIAMENT. THE LIBERALS MUST PROVIDE TAXPAYERS WITH PROPER ACCOUNTING OF EXPENDITURES AND A VOTE ON MASSIVE BILLS TO SPEND MORE WITHOUT VOTING ON AND CLARIFICATION OF WHAT THOSE EXPENDITURES ARE FOR.
