Thank you, Brian. A firm, but sadly necessary grasp of the obvious. Right now, a majority of Canadians could be persuaded the earth is flat, if Trump declared it round. We're just not into reality all that much any more.
TDS is a liberal fuelled and supported media fixation. Tragically Canada is failing and its net zero to do with Trump. Trumps rough hyperbolic New Yorker persona aids the cause. Canadian basic national insecurity helps this mess
Sadly, there are no shortage of TDS-addled conservatives, either. That's one of our weaknesses, actually. The Libs are all united in their TDS, conservatives are split between TDS afflicted, Trump lovers and those who are ambiguous. We are united in our desire to oust the Libs but divided on the one topic that is currently keeping the Libs in power.
I think the true mark of a worthy politician are policies and cabinet.
Trumps policies of peace and prosperity and his worthy cabinet beginning with Sec of state Rubio? Match that to Canada’s Carney net zero policy and his cabinet of indolent sycophants
You forgot about the pragmatic conservatives who know, like all things, this too shall pass. If we lose our mind every time Trump opens his mouth, all we're showing is how emotionally fragile and immature we are as a country.
On this subject of TDS. The proposition that the Biden White House conspired to use lawfare against then former president Trump is becoming clear as more documents are released.
The accusation that Bill Gates and others were horrifically involved in sex trafficking with Epstein is proven correct.
As these dominoes fall and people are arrested I think Canadians need to look at our political system.
Questions about the level 4 Winnipeg lab scientists and their direct connection of virus samples and gain of function research information sent to Wuhan, China.
Coverups in parliament of government actions. Prorogued. Stalled. Resignation. Silence. Now a 15 year hold on document access relating to Covid under freedom of access laws.
The corruption of liberal government actions leads to questions about the entire “ wicked trump trade tarrifs “ obsession .
Is this a deliberate coverup?
Is Doug Ford’s justice department five year persecution of Lich and Barber for a mischief charge , just an enormous smoke screen?
Inexplicable actions such as these, lead to tin foil hats.
Canadians appear to be incapable of critical thinking. Too many were dumbed down after so many years of being sold Liberal propaganda. The Liberals own the media, compliments of Canadians tax dollars and probably the polling companies, too.
The mad cow doesn't help either and, to be fair, the Liberal baby boomers just want to keep their entitlements because they think they are entitled to them. It is not much different up here as it is in the US and I have the receipts:
"The average net worth of a person aged 65 to 74 was $1.8 million in 2022, up 178% from the same age group in 1989, adjusted for inflation."
Those folks actually think it is reasonable for a 75 year old couple who has properly arranged their affairs can make almost 370k in 2026 and still keep a bit of OAS. Explain that, slowly, to a 30 year old who can't afford rent and is having difficulty putting food on the table.
I am continually bewildered by Canadians and their thought process or should I say lack there of. The absense of logical evaluation of fact verses the rhetoric coming from the mainstream press (BL excluded) and the Liberal party that Canadians are buying into shows that have no common sense or critical thinking. As a Canadian I have never in all my many years been so disappointed in our people and government.
I concur with you 100%. My belief in this country is being seriously tested. My family has been in Canada since the 1840’s. My Father was a wounded WW2 veteran of the Canadian Army who loved our country with all of his heart. If he was alive, he would be appalled by what is going on here, especially with the media being nothing but a propaganda machine for the Liberals. This is not free speech - it’s propaganda pure and simple - one sided and whitewashed. Reporters shirk their responsibilities by asking soft ball questions and ignoring relevant probing enquires. I now try to spend as much time outside of Canada as I can, I am very disappointed by what our country has become, a nation of puppets.
I have always believed Canadians, in general, have an over inflated sense of moral high ground towards Americans. Like we are so superior. Just look what we’ve let happen here!
I wonder what will happen if and when Trump is no longer president. I have always stated that the Democrats and the Liberals were one and the same. Their loyalties and alliances are not with the people of the country they profess to “serve and protect”.
One only has to research, read and understand that their self interests are paramount. And they will achieve their ultimate goals through coercion and, unfortunately, compliance (of the ignorant and gullible). No offence intended.
Connect the dots and see the connections involving the “why’s”and the “who’s” GLOBALLY.
Exactly. Those may be US numbers, but Canada is NOT the US. You have to factor in ONE major difference. TAXES.
I won’t go into detail, however, I am sick and tired of “boomer bashing”. I for one, have worked extremely hard my entire life (since age 12), understood the values my parents instilled in me (and I with my sons and grandsons), and looked forward to a stable comfortable retirement. I’m far from “well off”. And I am extremely unhappy, disillusioned and frankly disgusted with the attitude of so many uninformed Canadians. There is NO “BIG PICTURE” element to their rationale. And rightly observed by many … emotions and biased media fuel their comments. As was once said. “The truth is out there!”
I did not vote for the consecutive so called Liberal governing bodies. Their economic acumen is severely lacking. And as with the Democrats in the US…they have been leading their respective countries down the wrong path.
I’m not necessarily a Trump fan, although some of his policies make sense for the sovereignty and prosperity of his country. I do not agree with the manner in which he implements these policies.
My concern will still be the return of the Democrats. If and when! By far, even in comparison with Carney and affiliates, a self serving criminal society. IMO.
The average Canadian has zero concept of geo-politics. They think themselves so superior to the rest of the world while being completely ignorant of what's going on in their own country. They know exactly what Trump said and when he said it but can't see that Carney is leading this country down the garden path. They'll tell whoever how divided the US is but can't see all the division and hatred going on north of the border. It's actually pretty embarrassing. To be honest, I don't think our legacy media has any concept of what's going on in the world either but I'm sure they could tell you what Trump had for breakfast! What are you gonna do?
I do own Brookfield stock and have been well pleased with my blue chip purchase. Smart investment is a key to prosperity, maybe you should try it. There is no sell out to China. Canada always did business with China and as you are likely well aware the amount of business the USA does with China dwarves anything Canada has done. All Carney did was do what was required to get those 100% tariffs that China applied to our canola, seafood, beef and pork removed. Those 100% tariffs were applied because Trudeau acquiesced to Biden's request to put 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs. We got screwed. When Canada did what Trump requested during his first term, arresting and holding Meng Wanzhou, deputy Chair of Huawei, they took 2 Canadian citizens in China and held them in terrible conditions for 3 years. Meng stayed with an ankle bracelet in her $3M Vancouver mansion. Trump did little to assist in their release despite Canada's repeated requests for assistance after we did you a favour. Again, Canada got screwed. Carney says, China is predictable. Predictable is not trustworthy. However it is better than unpredictable and untrustworthy. I have full confidence that China will not interfere in the NHL, or stop hockey from being played in Canada or anywhere else for that matter. Indeed they may ask Canada's help to learn the game, to field the best Chinese team and take a crack at it themselves. I will wager that beating a top team the USA could field would surely please the Chinese.
You think American understand geo-politics? LOL- They can't even name all 50 states in their own country. Most have never visited any other country so spare me your vitriol.
I don’t care how informed Americans are, I care that Canadians are such frighteningly uninformed headline readers always running to hide under Carney’s skirt.
I frankly am disgusted by my fellow Canadians. Their complete and utter lack of comprehension in regards to what is going on here frustrates me to no end. They spend all day, every day spewing forth vitriol towards the US while they remain completely ignorant to the failures of their own government to deal with the most pressing issues we have here in Canada. Most of those issues are made in Canada and have zero to do with Trump. In many ways one cannot blame them - the news and information being presented to them by the MSM in Canada is ridiculously biased and whitewashed. Unless they make a concerted effort to find alternative news and information sources - they are being completely duped and even brainwashed - yet they will vigorously deny any of this is happening to them and this sort of thing just is not possible in Canada. OK - sure.
There has always been a significant pocket of our population that has identified their Canadian patriotism, their Canadian identity by just being Anti-American. That’s all it took for these people to feel Canadian - “ we are not Americans”. Oh,OK. The Liberals have tapped into that and it helped them eke out a win in the last election. Despite the Liberals thinking they have this huge mandate - in reality they won by a squeak and that was entirely due to the collapse of the NDP and those voters , for the most part, voting Liberal.
I have just returned from a trip around the world - 18 countries - and no country is as obsessed with Trump as much as Canada. Thank God I am getting out of here and heading down to my second home in the southern U.S.. I can get away from hearing about Trump 24/7/365 while Canada itself it lurching towards a serious domestically caused economic decline yet the majority of Canadians couldn’t care less.
The bulk of Canadians are fragile, adult children. As such, they cannot cope with the concepts of responsibility, accountability and consequences. Because of this, the last thing they are willing to do is "look inside" themselves. No, pointing fingers is far easier, more comfortable, and self-satisfying.
The percentage of the vote in the election last year was Liberals 43%, Conservatives 41% and the NDP sunk to 6.3 from 19.7 in the previous election - that’s a 13% drop in voters, costing them official party status. The Liberals ran hoping to get a majority which they did not get, despite picking up all of those NDP voters. I don’t know what planet you live on but 2% is NOT an overwhelming mandate. So now - who is actually out of touch with reality ? The numbers don’t lie.
Not entirely. You're actually both almost equally correct. It's the difference of looking at seats and looking at how close seat races were. So yes, the Libs almost got enough seats for a majority, a pretty solid win. However, when you factor in how many ridings were extremely close counts, the Libs won them by only just over 8k votes total. That's a very close call of a win by that metric.
Sorry, I think was not entirely clear there, by 8k votes total, I mean the Libs won enough seats to win the election by a total of just over 8k votes. As in, they really won the election by only just over 8k votes.
In other news(and on point), the folks who want us to get into bed with China are losing their collective elbows up mad cow addled minds because 99 was interviewed before the game yesterday. Logic won't work with those people. Likely have to wait until enough of them leave this mortal coil but we will probably be the country formerly known as Canada by then.
I've always questioned polls and the results they purport to represent. 2000 adults is not 40 million Canadians. Who is taking part in these polls? How are the questions asked? I can't help seeing these polls as manipulation and possibly designed to make people think twice about their wrong opinions.
I hear you and it sucks. Many boomers’ wealth is tied up in their homes and yes, as they aged, they invested wisely knowing they had to be ready to retire. Can’t blame them. (Except for the way some of them vote). Canada’s population increased by 34% since 2015 when Justin got in. That impacts jobs, schools, health care, home ownership, welfare costs and more. DEI in Canada really harms our young people and plays a part in making it more difficult to break into the job market.
I am one of those “Boomers” except I detest the Liberals and I detest what they have done to our country. Saying that, those 30 year olds who want to complain about my generation and the wealth we acquired have no concept of the sacrifices that we had to make to acquire these nest eggs in the first place. They just did not pop up and throw money at us. I had to sacrifice a lot of things to get the money I now have and I had to do it while making 2 car payments, a mortgage, property tax, saving for my 4 kids college funds, braces, after school activities , and hopefully enough for a vacation. After all that was done hopefully I had some left over to invest because we were told back then - “ Do not count on the CPP and OAS to be there for you when you retire because there are not enough workers coming up behind you to support the system”. So we did what we were told and we scrimped and saved. My kids did not get all of the things they wanted and I was out at night working to make the money so we could all live somewhat comfortably. My investments paid off and I was lucky there. Thanks to the Liberals immigration policy making houses scarce - my home exploded in value - for 25 years it hardly appreciated at all. Now it’s worth 5 times what I paid for it. Is that somehow my fault ? I never bought it as an investment, I bought it because I had 4 kids and we needed a house to raise them in. The last 2 moved out just this past August at 33 years old. And no I am not about to sell it. It’s mine, I paid for it and I have had to maintain it for 35 years and my wife will never move. So get off our backs - we are not all Liberals and frankly I fail to understand what my generation sees in that gaggle of crooks in the first place. If housing prices fell, that would be fine by me - for the sake of our young people, I sure hope they do for your sake. We are not responsible for the times we live in , you just have to deal with them, however NOTHING is permanent and the times and the economic circumstances are fluid - they never last. Hang in there.
I too am one of those boomers who thinks liberals are ruining it for the upcoming generations. As you said, we did and saved as we had to. I'm sure we benefited from a few lucky breaks but nothing was handed to us either, we had to work hard for what we have. These days it seems the government is working hard to make sure no one succeeds except the ruling elite and their friends but hopefully this too shall pass.
Thank you Darryl. Getting through to the young folks that we lived in a point in time, and being human we could not foresee the future is completely out of their range of knowledge. Not that this is all on the liberal government, but Trudeau and Lizzy May proudly announced that Baby Boomers screwed the ensuing generations. I am 73, lost everything mostly due to the NEP, started over, and paid taxes since I was 15, only to have my financial life willfully destroyed by a federal government that was voted in to protect Canadians.
I get it - I have seen my RRSP eaten up mostly by the government making me withdraw it then hitting me with taxes when I did. I have not even paid my 2025 taxes yet and today I got a letter from Revenue Canada demanding $ 12,000 to pre pay my 2026 taxes. Ya right - like I have $ 12,000 lying around to send in to them so they “can hold on to it for me”. Why ? Am I a criminal ? I have paid my taxes in full every year as long as I have lived here. Why ask people to prepay next years taxes when they have yet to pay this years ? Are these people insane or just idiots ? I have no idea what my income totaled out to be last year because I have not gotten all of my T4’s yet, let alone know what it’s going to be next year - and if I don’t know neither do they. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Meanwhile the illustrious Carney under whose wise guidance our deficit has gone up to over $ 1 trillion dollars in the last 10 years - and half of that in the last 5 years ( and was he not the principal economic advisor to the Trudeau government from 2020 onward ?) - does not pay a dime in Canadian tax - oh no he holds his investments in Bermuda, Grand Cayman and the Isie of Mann. I love how these guys can run up our debt but they skate away paying nothing. It’s unbelievable really.
100% agree. After I wrote my response to the 30 year old, ten minutes later my husband said , and also, we Boomers PAID into OAS for over 40 years so why apologize for being proud that we made it work??? Love all your points, totally mirrors how we worked our asses off for whatever we have. No apology. ☺️🙋♀️
Well said! I too am a boomer and have never voted Liberal. My story is similar to yours and it bogles my imagination after what these crooks have done to this country for the last 11 years that they could even think about letting it continue. This country is broke, do you think the handouts are still going to be there. It saddens me to see how far this country has fallen. The new generation, If you want prosperity for Canada I implore you to vote Conservative as they are the only party I see to bring back Canada.
Hard work, and decades of it...not social media, not you tube, not face book, not any other platform will help you.....only you will do that...get to work, vote better, enjoy what you have created for your family, be proud of that, and no,,,it's not easy!
Oh boy..my family thinks the same, except me. We go shopping and we have to buy Canadian or somewhere other than the US. I tell them we could lose the blue jays, and the Canadian hockey nhl teams will just play amongst themselves. They are all crazy and will not listen, meanwhile the liberals are rubbing their hands.
This recent "buy Canadian" mania really gets my goat. When my husband and I got married 15 yrs ago (oh, those halcyon days of 2011!) we made a conscious decision to buy Canadian for our household whenever we could because a) we wanted to support what Canadian manufacturing there is and b) we wanted as little of our money going to China as possible. Our choices then went US, Europe, S. America. We have avoided buying Chinese made products as much as has been feasible and have maintained that position consistently. This new-found patriotism of people who never cared before, supported flying our flag at half-mast over a hoax and cancelling Canada Day makes me sick. The hypocrisy is rolling off of them in waves as they pat themselves on the back for being such good Canadians.
New found patriotism Modern Mantuamaker. It doesn't impress me at all. I, like you, have always looked to buy Canadian. If that failed I'd buy American or European
Remember, it's not facts or truth that our politicians are focusing on, it's what the population believes that's important. The idiocy of the covid operation proved that you can get people to believe and do just about anything using fear and propaganda.
Canadians were played by Skid Mark Carney Duh 🤡 and his 🤡 posse. Moving his assets to the U.S. before the Election, purchasing the Largest U.S. pipe from the Permian basin to the Tri cities area. All while pretending to contradict those actions with his elbows up theatre. Evasion of Canadian taxes in Caribbean laundry mats? But he is Captain Canuck right? Platform promises that totally contradict what he had advised Skippy Turdeaus team. Carney is a man of contradiction it seems. States one thing and does the complete opposite, has not truly made a step forward on any of his campaign promises. Certainly has not made life any easier for Canadian consumers, taxpayers.
Thank you, Brian. A firm, but sadly necessary grasp of the obvious. Right now, a majority of Canadians could be persuaded the earth is flat, if Trump declared it round. We're just not into reality all that much any more.
Most in canuckistan are brainwashed simpletons, not all mind, most.
Tis all theatre and simpletons watch the idiot box and believe it. The Americans are not going to eat your children, ignore government bullshit.
True.A Liberal MP just stated that high grocery costs are due to climate change. I think a majority probably agree with her.

I unfortunately hear what the Orange Overlord says, and tweets. He is all over the map when he is awake and talk about being full of rage!
Buy Brookfield. Might as well make some money while we are selling out to China.

You nailed that brother. Well said.
The legacy media says whatever they are told to say. Their funding comes from the govt.
should russians believe everything they read in pravda? Should canadians believe everything they hear on cbc, ctv, the globe and mail? Really?
Canadians who take all their info from the legacy media are 100% misinformed/ uninformed/ disinformed.

I've always questioned polls and the results they purport to represent. 2000 adults is not 40 million Canadians. Who is taking part in these polls? How are the questions asked? I can't help seeing these polls as manipulation and possibly designed to make people think twice about their wrong opinions.
Those who still have landlines, and are lonely, and have time on their hands.
Exactly my sentiment. WHO are they polling and WHERE.
I can certainly relate Darryl.
Critical thinking...no
Common sense.....NO
Mass formation TDS sycosis.....YUP!
TDS will continue to be pushed in Canada as long as it works for the Liberals, even at the expense of our future
💯 The last thing Libs care about is Canada or its future.
