For Carney, all roads lead to China via Brookfield and Canadians money. His ego loves this fight with Trump. Carney will chose to win even if every Canadian drowns in debt. As we saw with Trudeau ideology is everything and Canada isn't big enough for Carneys ego.

I don't see much of a future for Canada, but I hope Alberta gets out so there is at least a remnant of the true north.

As usual, Carole, I agree with all that you have posted herein. Particularly the final sentence.

Carney doesnt want a deal with the US, it has been made clear for 8 months that its not the US contingent that are difficult, its the Canadians.

As for Doug's plane, he doesnt need one and at a time with record lineups at food banks, its a moronic time to do something like that.

Media will hold Pollievre accountable while letting Carney skate. Saw they are already framing high inflation numbers as out of our control because of Iran. Does the war play a part - sure, but the liberal policies have led us there

Its so weird how all the hit pieces on Poilievre i was seeing on my feeds have dried up. There is some industrial strength psyops happening with the set up of the CUSMA failure. Im trying not to be conspiratorial in my thinking but I can't help thinking I am seeing a very purposeful destruction of Canada, but to what end?

China can take more of our businesses and land from us…

Look at Carney’s history starting with Goldman Sacks. This article spells it out nicely.

I find it hilarious that we have turned the keys over to GS BFFs Carney, Guzman and Hodgson.

if Carney was actually the master negotiator, he told everyone he was he would already have a deal for Canada and it would be a good deal. He should have been able to negotiate a deal with any American president. Instead, he has run with his tail between his legs. He clearly oversold his skill set. And I have to say that that video was absolutely cringe. Not sure what he was trying to get across there, but my hackles went up on the back of my neck.

Omg Merla, I felt the same. It was difficult to listen to. I know I'm not a brain surgeon, but when he finishes speaking I usually really have to wonder what he said. As for his little statue of Brock if it's in his office how would he ever see it? He's never here.

Pierre is the lighthouse in the storm. Its what we need to make canada prosperous.

No cusma deal, at first i did think it was trump, but its carney that doesn't want one..jmo then what? Mexico is doing great. Picking up our share i guess.

Agree on the plane . Numbers don't lie.. time is money.. we pay politicians to wait around in airports.. some like it..but busy people don't. Ford is one.

Good article

A political expert type once told me “ optics” counts in politics.

Yup. It was you.

Buy a used plane ? I can live with that. Do the math ? Charters may be more economical.

Regardless.

Optics killed this deal.

Anyone who thinks Trump and his advisors are just winging it need to read this. All 534 pages.

This is just a negotiation and it is not personal and Carney knows he has no cards to play so he is taking advantage of the ludicrous TDS that is rampant among the mad cow addled liberal baby boomer elbows up crowd.

If the facts support purchasing a $29m aircraft, then it is equally clear that Ford bases his decisions on votes and not on facts, practicality, or truths?

Brian Lilley's avatar

He responds to all the people that call and text him.

Tracy ooa's avatar

What ….I've sent emails to Ford probably a hundred times…nada .

Randy's avatar

Understood, thank you for the clarification. Are the callers not voters? Have the phone calls outweighed the facts supporting the practicality of having an aircraft? For what it is worth I believe all provincial governments need and should have an aircraft. WRT to Ford’s choice…I question the one his people picked…other than it is Canadian? My position is he should have spent some political capital and perhaps just downsized his choice? He did after all publicly state recently, that he is on solid ground in the polls (or something similar).

The silence surrounding the trade talks tells the story. There is nothing happening. It is the same silence that surrounded the last NAFTA talks. Many Canadians still think Freeland negotiated the deal.

When it was announced that Mexico and the US had begun talks, CBC rushed out a BS story quoting Liberals saying that Canada-US talks were beginning too.

We have been Tutored that Carney doesn’t do anything that won’t pay himself or his Company. Screwing a trade deal makes lots of winners & losers. You can bet he’s laying the ground work to profit from blowing up our economy.

Martin Dixon's avatar

Have not been a fan of a lot of Ford’s recent antics but the plane decision was a no brainer.

K Brooker's avatar

Doug can have his plane, and you are 100% correct about Carney wanting us to accept his failure with the US as good for us. It won’t be good for us! We are deep trouble.

An interesting article on what could be the snake Carney's plan for what's left of this Country.

Owning a plane is a lot more than purchase price. Charters avoid the headache of ownership & maintenance etc etc etc.

Ken Schultz's avatar

Yes, Trevor, charters avoid those items. On the other hand, if you took a taxi absolutely everywhere because you didn't want the cost of fuel, repairs, insurance, licensing, etc., etc., etc. you would get the transportation but you would pay far, far, far more simply because the taxi folks include all those costs in the fare that you pay. That would be the same for chartered aircraft. Further, have you ever tried to get a taxi on a rainy or a snowy day? Often you can't. The same condition can occur with aircraft charters simply because there are only so many aircraft available to be chartered and sometimes they are simply not available.

The point is, yes, you are correct but is there a cost to saving that money? I think the answer is very much a loud "Yes!"
