i just finished reading about the 1837-38 rebellion in upper canada. the people were not being heard. the LT governor had a small council that he appointed and they made all the rules, regardless of the laws the assembly passed. does this sound familiar?

That remnds me off the phrase "what goes around comes around".The idiom

suggests that if someone treats others poorly, they are likely to experience similar treatment in return. Both ford and trudeau and an extension in carney, need siimilar treatment by losing an election.

Yep. Now read ", ON Tyranny ", by Timothy Synder., Then, "Social Justice Fallac" , by Dr. Thomas Sowell,".

Too bad Everyone’s distracted by their phones and Netflix to bother with a rebellion

julia payne's avatar

And that is by design....and long-range plan started long ago to pacify and turn people into "useless eaters"...and it turns out those useless eaters will be eating genetically modified pigs now, too

And for those NOT based in reality (Liberal government)...not only are the increases in the prices of things much higher than a few %...the actual packaging size of what you receive for that cost is also less. We are being ripped at both ends.

And nothing to re balance the economy is being done...just more handouts. That does not fix the problem!!

Karen Benz's avatar

When will people realize that the handout they are getting is coming from their tax dollars. Honestly, I think my daughter's dog is smarter than most Canadian, specially those that vote liberal.

don morris's avatar

I DO wish CPC supporters would quit with the remarks about the supposed stupidity of voters who support the Liberals. Some of the most successful and accomplished people in this country are staunch Liberals. We may disagree with them politically, but stupid they are not.

Karen Benz's avatar

Then why do they keep voting liberal and hoping for better outcomes. The definition of insanity so it's said.

Lorrie Macfarlane's avatar

And I wish the Liberals would stop calling CPC supporters names like racists, for simply seeing things differently. Gone is civilized debate.

Clair de Luna's avatar

I expect the liberals to make that scab bleed when they announce another floor crossing during the Conservative convention. That's just how ugly their politics has become.

Claude Quintin's avatar

I would like to see a floor crossing in the opposite direction.

don morris's avatar

Political suicide for a Liberal. I expect a Dipper to cross to the Libs but maybe the CPC has another ambitious MP in their ranks. Is the phrase "political integrity" now obsolete?

UncleMac's avatar

I'm not a fan of political legacy candidates. I used to say Trudeau the Elder was Canada's worst PM but then along came Trudeau the Younger. Mind you, Carney is giving them both a run for our money.

Michael Law Cobb's avatar

Ford is a self dealing Liberal.

Terry Steeves's avatar

I believe those food inflation numbers are far less than the actual increases.

Ontario needs to boot Ford did they not vote for a conservative government.

Caroline /Mark Mulroney would be great options. Ford is a baffoon ,hypocrite & extremely stupid . He is neither a conservative ,he hurt our elections by supporting the Liberals while pretending to be a Conservative. Who wants a leader who has no loyalty or integrity,Ford lacks both

Karen Benz's avatar

Ford will definitely not get my vote next time around. I can't even hold my nose and vote for him.

“PM Carney not giving serious answers, to serious questions on affordability in the House of Commons” Was the MP for Kyiv in the house, or is she continuing to vote electronically so the Liberals can maintain their hold on power?MEESTER speaker Canada has the lowest inflation in the universe.

MEESTER speaker Canada has the best economy in the solar system.

MEESTER speaker Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives are the worst of all time. 🙄

She is supposed to have officially resigned her seat, which means that a by-election needs to be called. Funny it's not being mentioned in the media, eh?

don morris's avatar

Her resignation was effective Jan.9th/2026. A byelection should be held by March but maybe Carney plans on a general election as many CPC MP's are claiming when they ask for a donation to their already inflated war chest.

During the war, my father had a former rum runner as an executive office on his ship, plus another officer who chased the rumrunner on a rcmp boat. They all had deep sea certificates so the RCN called them up. The automatic raising of sin tax every April contrary to the magna carta, could lead to having a still in the backyard or running booze across border instead of drugs.

I'm wondering more and more which country or countries will be tapped to pick up the pieces of Canada, once they're done parting us out. At some point, we will probably wake up to news of a Special Operation by a foreign state. Then our politicians will probably just stand back and say “Oops.”

Lee-ann Harder's avatar

Which is the very reason that Alberta Separation is snowballing and it's getting a ton of interest from people across the country.

Verna Scott's avatar

Its a big job to separate and I'm not sure they can. Legally!

Will Smith's avatar

Everything is now legal for politicians in Canada, unless you are unwilling to proffer your hand and receive a gentle slap if someone notices. And, it's kangaroos all the way down now!

Mark Chapman's avatar

The Magna Carta was not "Signed" it was "Sealed" with the royal seal of the king.

With all due respect, this is what I expect from this man. He has never answered a question correctly, and more importantly, he tends to provide irrelevant responses instead of directly addressing the issue. He avoids attending Parliament for reasons we all know; he has to be one of the worst speakers to listen to, unless you enjoy fairy tales. Negotiation skills are awful unless he's working for Brookfield. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of accountability and transparency in leadership. The constituents deserve a representative who prioritizes their concerns and engages meaningfully in discussions that affect their lives.

Martin Dixon's avatar

A Junior Jimmy Olsen at the Toronto Daily Star by the name of Bruce Arthur actually posted a pic of Pierre on X to point out that his hands were a different shade than his face. He actually did that.

Verna Scott's avatar

Photographers have make up artists to get the right shot.. jmo

He sounds like a knob!

We don't need another celebrity child of a PM to run for office, in fact I'd like to see the practice banned even though that probably violates the Charter. Who was the statesman that said we would eventually lose our democracy to an exclusive club of politicians? We are at that stage. I don't know Ben Mulroney, did see him on CTV a few times, but celebrity is hardly a recommendation for political ability, as we've seen very much lately. Stay doing what you're doing,Ben, and good luck to you.

Verna Scott's avatar

Its a conundrum. They understand and know the ins and out of poliycs.. been around it since birth. Hes a lawyer , most PMS are lawyers .

But he might think he's too young and still wants experience.

Ben Mulroney has been in the USA for decades…please stay there

He lives in Toronto. Has hosted daily TV and radio shows from there for years

$2 US each for an Avocado in Arizona and they are picked but a few miles down the road from my location. Bag of 6 large freshly picked organic grapefruit $5.99 US. $16 per bag (organic) in Canada.

The cost of living has gone up incrementally since forever - it has always been that way. Those who think otherwise are living in the past. Good luck with living back there. Unfortunately that is a UPC downfall - "what it was like back when, blah blah" ........

More to the point, it's how much people are paid and what the job market is like that have always helped to offset those rising costs and that is what should be the greater concern. To focus on grocery costs by either party is a bloody waste of time. This is not the real issue at hand. With a flourishing economy that would not be an issue of concern for the majority. A few bitches here and there as prices go - also as it's alway been.

Why hasn't the Pipeline issue (the one that needs to go through BC) been resolved? We all know that is a huge gain for the economy as soon as that is approved. What is happening with the mining issues in BC (more strangleholds there by the same groups with the pipeline) - the Forestry issues in BC - caused by poorly executed forestry management in BC that has caused so much job loss. The uncertainty with fishing industries off the east and west coast.

Would be good to see some more push back on the China EV deal - that's also a really big concern.

I don't really care what Ben Mulroney's family are doing that seems like something I would look for in tabloids.
